I'm so thankful I found Hurricane Steam. Aaron was very professional and accommodating. He was able to come out on short notice, and did a fantastic job cleaning my tile and carpet. I had damage after my hot water heater flooded part of my home. He was able to remove all the musty/mildewed odor from the carpets, and also treated my Saltillo Tile with extra care. There were a few spots that had mold due to the flood, and he knew just how to gently clean those spots. I found him to be very knowledgeable, and he provided and excellent service at an affordable price. I will definitely use him again, and recommend him to friends and family.

I hired this company to do a move out cleaning , refrigerator cleaning , carpet cleaning , and pooper scooper clean up. They were very respectful and nice. We did a walk through to explain everything that I wanted to get done . They made sure I was happy every step of the way. When we did the final walk through together as soon as I walked into the house it smelled really good. They went the extra mile for me by even polishing my floors and cleaning all my windows . My carpets looked brand new once they were done with them. I had a pretty big house and they seemed to get everything done pretty quickly. I will definitely be recommending them to my family and friends and will probably be using them for more jobs in the future! Thanks for all your help.

We had Sparkle-Maids do the carpets and cleaning to clear our military housing moving inspection. They did an amazing job on a house that had 5 small children. We had zero failures on the house. They made it a very smooth process for us. Thank you again Sparkle-Maids!

They cleaned two bathrooms, shampoo carpets, vacuumed the whole house and washed porcelain tile floors. My house sparkles and hasn't been this clean since a flood a year ago. I am having them back soon for window cleaning. Great workers and very nice people.

Tony re-tiled an area around the bathroom window that was old and moldy--looks like new. He is an excellent tiler and charges a fair price. I am using him on a regular basis for repairs on my rental properties.

Upon moving into a new house, I found a lot of termite damage and Tim has been helping me with this along with other renovations. Because of the termites he has replaced all the sheet rock in my kitchen along with other kitchen renovations. He helped with porch supports, remodeled my bathrooms, replaced tile. He has helped me with electrical syetm in my home by moving light switches, replacing breakers and moving wires. He replaced my water heater, and even took out a few trees in my yard. He knocked out spare walls, and has basically helped me rebuild my house from the ground up. He has been a great advocate to help me do all of these projects within my budget, helping me find the best priced quality materials. Tim is efficient in all aspects of home remodel. I've been amazed by the great work that's been done.

I had 9 different people come give quotes for my project and jm flooring and remodeling was the best value for price quoted. I felt extremely comfortable with them from the beginnings. I trusted his judgements and suggestions as I was pretty clueless on the type of work that needed to be done. I'm glad I did. My floors and walls look great. If I wasn't 100% satisfied he went in and corrected the issue no questions asked. I will definitely be a repeat customer,

Newsky El Paso (El Paso, TX) did the remodel work on 2 of our bathrooms to our complete satisfaction. Larry, the owner, uses his own employees, who along with him, have all the requisite craftsmanship/building skills to complete the jobs. When they ran into unexpected difficulties, Larry relied on his decades of experience to recommend resolutions and has the skills to implement the fix. You will need to make all your own purchases of major items: toilets, tubs, cabinets, tops, faucets, paint, tile, etc., He supplies the ancillary stuff needed to complete the install which is built into his estimate. Make sure you get all the installation instructions, warranty papers, operating manuals, extra parts, etc. His guys are really good about getting rid of trash, but you need to let Larry know what you want to keep or out it goes. Let him know you want quality painting - no short cuts like leaving switch plates on the walls or hinges on doors and painting around them. He'll ensure the painter complies.

Amazing! He and his crew told me step by step of the process. Detailed what would be done and were amazing at not tossing some cups and home decor that I had left in our kitchen. The house was cleaner than how we received it when we moved in back in 2013. Even the property manager made a comment about how clean and how much better it looked compared to before. After they were done, they walked us through and showed us everything that was done. Definitely passing referrals along and definitely using Attention 2 Detail in the future!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
