David and his team were very pleasant to work with. David was the person who trimmed the trees/shrubs and the others did the clean-up. It was obvious they all took pride in their work and wanted to please the customer. The only thing I would recommend is to let them know if you want them to try to leave down the mulch when they're cleaning up the trimmings. Perhaps they could lay down plastic or something to catch the trimmings? I ended up needing to replace most of my mulch which wasn't a problem. I certainly plan on asking them to come back in the fall so that I can keep up with the bushes and it won't be so much work for them!

The Cut Above has been mowing my rental for two seasons. The tenants say they are very friendly. The grass is cut and edged at a great price. Chris has always been quick to respond to my messages. It's convenient to be emailed an invoice and pay via PayPal instead of finding cash to stick under the door mat for the lawn guy.

Brick work and mulch in yard. Jose did a very good job of placing the bricks around my flower bed for edging and also bought mulch and spread it around the flowrr bed. He was very patient and did the job well. Will definitely recommend him to my friends.

Removed two small trees with roots, and another old root. Trimmed bushes. Added compost to flower beds and mixed in. Picked up and planted the plants I bought. Applied mulch and straightened the brick border. All for $300. Good work! Very quick.

Wow! Matt got in touch with us super quick one night & came over the next day to give us a quote on all the work we needed done. We needed side yard completely sodded, weeds pulled, bushes trimmed, flowers & new plants planted, mulch in Front & back yard. Matt & his worker showed up right on time and completed the job before we ever expected! They did a fabulous job and saved us so much time and back aches! The price was way better than we expected, also. The guys cleaned up and hauled everything away. Wonderful experience and we will use them again. We can't say enough how impressed we are with this company!

***** HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR! A+++ RATING! ***** We live outside the city limits (in the boonies you could say). Nate responded to my request within 10 mins of submitting job needs. I didn't get back to him until after 6pm & asked when he could start. He responded, "right now" & he meant it! He started on his way to our house & constantly had contact right down to eta of 7:21...now that's precise communication!! Upon identifying the leak, he quickly jumped into action. You could tell he knew his business & genuinely had concern to "repair" the pipe the "correct" way. He could've just put a "fix" on the pipe & left, but he said he'd rather ensure job was done "correctly" & wanted to give that area time to dry out overnight. He returned as promised 1st thing the next morning. He explained exactly what was wrong, what they did to "repair" (not "fix") & was adamant that we call him if ANY further issue comes up with that leak. I felt 100% confident that he meant it when he said he would rush right back "should" there be any further issues. In addition, Nate went a step further by installing thicker pipe & 2 couplings to the 1 broken area. We had old Crate Myrtles that had been cut down 2 yrs ago that have a maze of long, thick branches under the soil that have been putting pressure against the pipes for years. The job surely was more tedious than anyone could've known due to the way the branches overlap! None the less, Nate was true to his original bid he had given me on Thumbtack (which was almost TOO fair). I hired Nate based on the fact he was the 1st to respond to my Thumbtack request, not because of price! He ended up being 1/2 price of other contractor bids that I received (after hiring Nate). In fact, I felt obliged in paying him a little extra as he truly did go beyond our expectations (even put down new landscape mesh over the area replaced, securing it to surrounding mesh & neatly covering area with mulch)! Obviously, Nate realized that it's not JUST a name on the side of his truck, but it's HIS identity & genuinely WANTS his name to represent his quality of workmanship positively! HIRE HIM!!

We hired this company for regular landscaping after trying out four other companies unsuccessfully. I can’t say enough good things about Colop Landscaping. They show up on time, every week they are scheduled. Trim bushes with care, pick weeds, bag grass when needed, and I even see them clean the grass clippings that fall in our pool with a net we keep in the back yard. After I found out they do landscape design and pavement laying, I had them redesign our entire front yard with stone edging, mulch, moved bushes, and planted flower beds.. WOW! It looks AMAZING. Thought it would take them weeks to finish ....they finished in two days. Hard workers ...working from sun up to sun down. Cleaned up perfectly after themselves. Now I have them started on a backyard pavement job. Thank you Colop landscaping!!!

Total Yard Cleanup and Flowerbed overhaul. Chance gave me a same day quote and was on the job a couple days later. We have extensive flowerbeds and ended up needing more mulch than originally thought, but Chance kept great communication with me throughout the entire process and did things to my specifications and met my expectations. He even came out and worked even though he was sick in order to finish the job on time. I would highly recommend his services and intend to use him again myself.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
