Introduction: I have over 24 years of experience representing clients in personal bankruptcy cases. I also worked for the Chapter 13 Trustee in Dallas for four years, and have relationships with all the trustees and judges in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I handle all phases of my clients' cases personally, and do not pawn them off on paralegals or other staff. By keeping my overhead low, I am able to take a smaller number of cases and give my clients personalized, caring service. I enjoy helping my clients get a fresh start. When they first come in for a consultation, most of them are distressed and anxious. My goal is for them to feel relieved and confident when we finish our first meeting. I have heard many times - "I feel like the weight of the world just fell off my shoulders." It's my goal to make them feel that way, and to continue feeling confident as we navigate through the process. I want my clients to feel comfortable with me and to ask any questions they have so they will know exactly how we are going to address their problems. Although I have been doing this for over two decades, I know my clients usually know very little about what can be a complex process. I make every effort to start with the basics and explain each step thoroughly. I work for them, and I always give them my best effort. Every case is different, and I look forward to the challenge of getting the best result for each client. At this time, I am doing all of my work and meetings remotely from my home office. It has turned out to be very convenient and efficient for everyone, and it is likely it will remain this way in the future. I'm happy to have a Zoom meeting with you, but we will no longer have to go to a trustee's office or to the Federal Building downtown for trustee meetings. Chapter 13 meetings are being done by Zoom, as are court hearings. Chapter 7 meetings are being held by telephone. We can do the whole case without you ever having to leave your house.

Personal Bankruptcy Attorney

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Five stars isn’t enough. Ms. Munden was very helpful throughout our entire process. We had a lot of questions, and some odd situations during our bankruptcy. Ms. Munden is always very kind, knowledgeable, and reassuring. We felt as if we had a mama bear on our side, and still do. She doesn’t ditch you after the filing. We are blessed to have found her!

Personal Bankruptcy Attorney

Ms. Munden is a remarkable attorney. It's a shame they only let you pick three items above because she meets all of them plus more. She is very dedicated to her work and very attentive to her clients. She made me feel at ease about my decision and didn't make me feel worse off about how I was feeling having to file bankruptcy. Moreover, she assured me that many go through this and things happen and held my hand through every step of the bankruptcy. She literally was always reassuring me that everything was going to be ok. When I did have questions she was quick to respond. She is easy to get a hold of and her price was reasonable and worth every penny. She even offered her assistance for after the fact if anything was unclear or if I had an issue with something pertaining to the bankruptcy or anything else that she is capable of helping with. She is OUTSTANDING, WONDERFUL, FABULOUS, CARING, CONSIDERATE, HELPFUL, GIVING, OVERALL A REMARKABLE LADY/ATTORNEY!!!! I literally could go on and on about Ms. Muden. She is definitely not just a 5 STAR but a 100 STAR recommended!!!!!!! I can't thank you enough Ms. Muden!!!!! You are AWESOME!!!!! Evelyn

Personal Bankruptcy Attorney

Kathleen is an outstanding lawyer. Bankruptcy is not an easy decision to make - but she took the time to explain every detail of the process. She gave me piece of mind, great advice, and tips on how to improve my credit score after filing. She was extremely diligent and always quick to respond. She's head and shoulders above other lawyers at her price point.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My fees for Chapter 7 cases are on the low side of what most attorneys in this area charge. I am able to offer a lower rate because I do all my work myself, rather than depending upon paralegals or other support staff. For that reason, I am also able to take fewer cases than other lawyers, maintain control of the quality of my work, and have a more personal relationship with my clients. The fee for Chapter 13 cases is set by the court, and all attorneys charge the same. I normally charge $600 down to file a Chapter 13, which covers the filing fee that is paid to the court ($310) and a small portion of my fees. The remainder of the attorney's fees are paid through the Chapter 13 plan gradually over the term of the plan.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I prefer to have a free telephone conversation before meeting. By doing so, I can let the client know what he or she should bring to the first meeting, and can get an idea of their particular circumstances. The first meeting normally takes about an hour, and I will give the client a workbook to help gather all the information I will need to prepare the paperwork in their case. When the client comes back with the completed workbook and necessary documents (pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, etc.), we will go over that information. Once I have prepared the documents that will be filed with the court, we will meet again to review and sign those documents. I will then file the case, which immediately stops any actions by creditors. About a month after the case is filed, we will meet with the trustee assigned to the case. Those are normally the only times a client will have to appear in person either in my office or with the trustee. Some events can require the client to go to court, but I will thoroughly prepare the client for any such hearing so they feel comfortable. I am always available via email or phone to answer any questions during the course of the preparation of the case and after it has been filed. I am always happy to set an appointment for a meeting at any time.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I received my Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Baylor University School of Law in 1996. I started my own practice, doing family law, bankruptcy, juvenile law, and labor & employment law. As time went on, I found that bankruptcy was what I enjoyed the most, and have limited my practice to consumer bankruptcy since that time. I received an offer to work for the Chapter 13 Trustee in Dallas in 2013, and worked there for four years. It was a wonderful experience, and I learned a tremendous amount about other aspects of bankruptcy, from the perspective of the trustees, the judges, and creditors. However, I missed representing consumers, and joined an existing consumer bankruptcy firm in Fort Worth in 2017. I am now reestablishing my own practice, since that is what I enjoy the most.
