Arrived on time. The installation went quickly. Did a good job except he didn't put in the lights. Left it open for me to do later. Maybe that's the standard in the garage door industry, but if I'm doing a job, I'm going to complete it.

We hired Michael and his team to secure pictures on the wall that went crooked every time we closed the closet door. They no longer move! They also hung a couple extra items for us we had just had framed. Very pleased with results.

David did everything the right way. He communicated well before arrival making sure we were all set to go the day of the repairs. He worked efficiently and effectively completing all repairs in a little more than an hour. He replaced the flush and flap parts on two commodes, replaced a kitchen faucet and rehung a cabinet door that had come loose. And he was a funny guy to converse with as well! I think we will most likely do business again...I have more home repair projects. Thanks David!

Frank and his son installed a bathroom vanity, shower faucets, and lighting fixtures for us. After our previous handyman left our bathroom projects unfinished, we were a little wary of hiring a new one. Frank had such outstanding reviews that we felt safe trying him. His reviews are spot on! Frank has such a genuine, friendly personality. We were pleased with his work, positive attitude, and helpfulness. We are also hiring Frank to install our new garage door opener and future projects! Hire this handyman & you won't regret it!

Mitchell was able to complete several things we needed done on our home renovation. He was very honest, trustworthy, and helpful. To name a few things he completed: retired a bathroom floor and repaired some areas of tile in another bathroom and laundry room, converted 3 laundry chute into a cabinet, disconnected some air ducts from an old garage conversion, fixed a bathroom knob, soldered some valves and a few other things. He was willing to get materials and submit receipts. I will surely use him again when needed.

Jamm Construction responded immediately. They came out to fix a ceiling fan and after inspecting it, they tolde I had the wrong bulbs in it. Then, I asked them to look at several other things and they happily agreed and fixed my doorbell and lights in the study. They were fast, efficient and VERY affordable. I am very pleased with tj and will definitely use them again!

I contacted GiddyUp after receiving an online quote. I described my situation to him, sent him some pictures by text messaging, and we discussed the price. They are up front about pricing, no upselling and no surprises, and VERY FAIR. The brought a technician out very quickly, and the work was done perfectly. My work included changing the dead bolt, replacing the front door handle, and rekeying 4 other locks to all match a single key. Would definitely use them again if needed and would definitely recommend and refer. Work was done on 4/27/18.

Zach built a wall to close off the second bedroom in my condo and changed out the doors to the bathroom and master bedroom to match. We encountered a small hiccup but he fixed it right away. He showed up when he said he would and took his time making sure that everything looked just right. Not to mention the price was very reasonable. The wall looks like it was built with the condo not after! Textured walls are NOT easy to blend. Thank you for a job well done!

What can I say. These guys were fantastic. Very easy to work with and visit with while doing the job. They put in a doggy for for me. But we had the wrong size door so they went to the store and got the right size and even did a few other little things while they were at the house. I HIGHLY recommend them and will definitely be calling on them for more projects.

Sirgo and his team did fantastic job on the concrete coating, before due to the foundation repair, the concrete is cracked, Sirgo's team patch it and smooth the surface then apply the coating , now it looks much better. For their great service, I also give the garage door/yard door repair and stain work to them. Sirgo is very patient and come back couple times for good customer service.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How does a locksmith open a locked door?

Locksmiths use specialized tools and techniques to open your door in the case of lockouts or lost keys. Trained locksmiths can pick your door lock with lock-picking tools such as a rake, a tension wrench, a half diamond or a hook. They may use a technique called bumping, which will work on pin tumbler locks, or as a last resort they may use a drill to remove your existing lock. The national average locksmith price ranges between $70 and $100. A locksmith can also replace your current lock system, re-key your locks if you have lost your keys, repair a broken lock, install a deadlock and more. Locksmiths not only help with front doors, they can help if you are locked out of your car, locked out of your mailbox, locked out of your shed … you name it. There may be an additional charge for emergency after-hours locksmith services. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a car locksmith?

There are several reasons you may need a car locksmith. You may be locked out of your car (either with the keys inside or with no keys at all), you may have lost your car keys and need a new key, or you may want to make a duplicate car key. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Getting locked out of your car can be scary and overwhelming — especially if it’s cold and dark out. Fortunately, professional locksmiths provide round-the-clock assistance to help people in these circumstances.

Car lockouts are one of the main reasons people need a locksmith. Your locksmith’s price can depend on the type of car you have, the time of day (or night) it is, and where you are located. Locksmith pricing may be based on a flat rate, or pricing may be quoted to you after the locksmith determines the circumstances. For example, a flat rate for a car lockout could be $65 for standard vehicles. That price could be higher for after-hours or long-distance service, or service during extreme weather. If you have entirely lost your car keys, a locksmith can make you a new car key, but first they must verify that you are the owner of the car. Locksmiths can even program new car key fobs for you — often at a lower price than a dealership.

How much does it cost to make a new key for a car?

Locksmiths’ prices for making new car keys can vary depending on the make of your car as well as the time of day and location. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100, but duplicating a key may cost as little as $30, while extraction a key stuck in the ignition, cutting a new key and programming the fob can cost much more.

You might need a new car key if you have lost your key, the key broke in the ignition, the key is bent or damaged, or you just want a duplicate in case of emergency. You can request a duplicate of a key you have on hand, or you can have a new key made or cut if you have lost your original car keys. If you need to replace lost keys, you’ll need to first provide proof that you are the owner of the car along with the vehicle identification number (VIN). If you’re just locked out of your car but don’t need a key made, a locksmith may charge $65 to get you back in. Locksmith car key services are often far more affordable than dealership prices for new keys.

How much does it cost to have a deadbolt lock installed?

Installing a new deadbolt lock can improve your home security, especially if you think your current lock system has been compromised or there are unaccounted-for copies of your house keys in circulation. A professional locksmith can install a new deadbolt for you in a matter of hours. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Locksmith prices for installing deadbolts may be higher based on whether the professional provides the lock or you have it on hand, how many components the locking system includes, and how long the installation takes. The cost to purchase a lock yourself from a big-box store can range from approximately $70 to $225 or more, depending on quality and materials. Higher-security locks often take longer and therefore cost more to install.
