Cathy was such a delight to work with. Throughout the wedding planning process, people were asking me, "So, are you stressed?". And I would think about it, and respond, "Not really!". Cathy and her team made the experience so easy. She knew what I liked, and contributed wonderful ideas that matched my personality. She also did a TON of the work... buying decorations, editing invitations, making place cards, communicating with all of the vendors, etc.! She remained organized, level-headed, and patient with our indecisiveness. I would HIGHLY recommend Cathy and her team to any brides who want to truly enjoy the wedding planning experience. I honestly have no idea how my family and I would have been able to survive the process without her!

Attending an "out of town" wedding is always a potential for disaster and/or unwanted stress. Not when we recently traveled to the Dallas area to see our niece get married. The planning and attention to detail was obviously well thought out and orchestrated beautifully. Details including hotel choice, maps and time schedules for group dinners for the out of town visitors both prior to the wedding as well as the actual wedding day were so helpful. The venues were perfectly layed out and the fluidity of the day made the hours fly by! All of the "extras" that were at the wedding added to the experience. The choices in food, baked items, photography, DJ and all the services that go along with a big wedding were obviously suited to the Bride and Groom rather than the wedding planner. As guests, we focused on the beautiful experience and everthing around us happened seemlessly. No one ever seemed stressed or led us to believe there was ever a problem or issue coordinating everything. Hats off to a job well done!

I could not imagine planning my wedding without a wedding planner like Donna. From start to finish she kept everything extremely organized and on track. From managing and scheduling all my vendor meetings and quotes to preparing all the decorations to take to the venue, Donna had everything under control. Her style choices were right on point. All the little details and decor that went into my wedding were styled and executed by Donna (and they were awesome)! If you are looking for excellent taste, vision, organization, knowledge, and competence, Donna is the perfect choice.

Megan was the wedding planner for my daughter's wedding, and we would have never made it without her! She was very organized and had lots of great ideas. She was instrumental in helping to make my daughter's ideas become a reality, and she is a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Megan if you need someone to make your event special!

Brandy is AMAZING! She kept me on track and made everything so simple and easy from so far away! The day of went equally as smooth with Brandy running the show, I don't think the wedding could have gone any better. I am usually the planner and it was nice on my wedding day not to be the one worrying about what was happening, where everyone was, etc. I highly recommend her to plan your event!

I saw Cher speaking about her PinTwist Parties on CBS1 which looked like something fun and different for our 13 year old upcoming birthday party. Cher was very responsive and helpful Ashlee and her friends had a such a fun time creating their art project while having fun with Cher as well. So glad I saw her on tv!

We hired Janelle just a few days before the wedding and we were so happy that we did! Se did a custom pkg for us that ended up being perfecdt for us. She had a package for set up and clean up, and we did that but we also added a few separate services. She put together all of our centerpieces, picked up my dress and helped with some other crafts that I hadn't finished. Withoug hiring her, I don't know if I would have walked down the aisle with my hair done or not! I only wish that I had hired her sooner!

I was one of the people that were under the impression that I did not need a wedding planner. That was until the time came and I was overwhelmed and didn’t know what the next step should have been. Chanel remained calm, stepped right in and made our day go off without a hitch. She really went above and beyond with her duties. I would definitely recommend her to other brides.

After attending a wedding that was so beautifully put together, I too used Whimsical Wonders Events and Wedding planning. The wedding I had attended was a wonderful experience everyone had a great time and the decor was detailed and lovely. Each moment of the celebration was timed out perfectly. I decided to use Whimsical Wonders for a family reunion, a smaller event yes only about 50 people, but details were very important to me. I was extremely pleased with my event, everything was set up perfectly my family was thrilled we had such an amazing time! I will no doubt be using Whimsical Wonders Events and Wedding planning again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much does it cost for a wedding planner?

Wedding planning is a full-time job — unless you hire a professional to handle the hard work for you. The cost for a wedding planner will depend on the level of service you desire. The least expensive wedding planner option is day-of coordination, then partial service, then full-service.

The national average cost for wedding planning is between $990 and $1,300. Costs are greatly affected by region, with rural or smaller-town wedding planners often far more affordable than planners in higher-cost cities. Here are some examples of the various levels of wedding planning and their potential average costs:

    • Day-of-wedding coordination: $800-$1,700. Day-of services can include the planner finalizing all details, creating a timeline, confirming vendors and overseeing all setup, day-of activities, and cleanup. The couple does all the front-end planning and contracts all the vendors. Time commitment could be about 15-25 hours, depending on pricing.
    • Partial service: $1,500-$3,800. Here the planner works with the couple from the beginning, helping contract vendors, creating a timeline, and overseeing all details of day-of execution. Time commitment could be about 30-60 hours, depending on package and pricing.
    • Full service: $3,500-$8,000 or more. Here the professional handles all wedding and planning details including working on design, securing rentals, getting the venue and vendors, and handling complete execution of the event. Time commitment could be 50-150 hours or more, depending on package and pricing.
    • Consulting: $50-$150 per hour for design, vendor, reception and other wedding planning consultation.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
