Mike did a great job with our project. We had new countertops installed, and he came and reconnected our sink plumbing, disposal, and new faucet. He was attentive to detail, made sure we were aware of different issues, and worked to keep cost as low as possible. Also, he made himself available on short notice, trying to work around current jobs he had lined up. It was a very positive experience. Very knowledgable and courteous.

Dan installed cabinets for me and did an amazing job. The cabinets were 2nd hand so I didn't know the layout but he was patient and came up with a great design.

I am probably one of the most "picky, detailed oriented and incriminating" of all clients, or that anyone can ever experience in their life! In fact, I am so "Picky" about repairs; drywall, textures and paint, probably most everything about a job, I do not trust most people to even do my jobs, and end up doing most everything myself. I am explaining and saying this because, I give credit where it is due, and can not say enough to praise Mr. Rosalio Gamez and his incredible team (Gamez Drywall & Repair) for their EXCELLENT work! I can not say enough about Rosalio and his team; They arrived promptly, and did everything, and more, than expected. They were quite, courteous, polite, very detailed oriented, worked in sequence with one another, as the great team they are, cleaned up as they go and made sure everything was completed and satisfactory before leaving. I have NEVER experienced a team that works together so well and hard, and did everything to perfection, specifications and to my satisfaction, no questions asked, and had very fair pricing. I had various home projects that needed done, which included; Kitchen Demo (removal) to a built-in-wall & shelving unit, kitchen cabinets, counter and back splashes, all baseboards, carpet and tile removal from my kitchen, dining room, living room and stairs, commode and sink and tile floor, removed and hauled off, (they even repaired my sink valve and went to Home Depot to pick up necessary supplies as needed and they took old kitchen cabinets to my storage building!), among many other CONSTRUCTION REPAIRS to include; Drywall Cracks, Ceiling and Nail Pops repaired (which, by the way, he used screws and reinforcements, which was done correctly and not just a quick fix like most repair people would do!). His drywall repairs and textures, matched to perfection. The new ceiling and wall painting, on my 20' walls, along with the perfect paint lines, up against the ceiling paint was PERFECT, just to name a few of the projects that were done to perfection. He preformed all construction quickly, and supplied the very best quality and expertise bar-none! There is no short-cuts with Gamez Construction, Drywall and Repair. You get the very best, quality, and a professional job, anyone could ever ask for! It was a pleasure to have Rosalio Gamez and his wonderful team work in my home! He was both professional, gracious, respectful and courteous through-out the entire job, all the way to the end. My house was as clean after the job as when it had been before. If you need drywall, or any construction repair, and/or painting job, ask expert, Rosalio Gamez. He's by far the very best in the industry! I would highly and strongly recommend Rosalio Gamez & his incredible team, which I do not do easily. He went above and beyond the Scope of Work and Quality and Perfection! I just hope, when I need his services again, which will be soon; for marble and tile work, he will come back to me! Rosalia, if you see this, please forgive me for putting you through the wringer, being so hard on you and your team, and Thank You! You have my full trust and respect now, Rosalio! You are a real trooper! Thank you again! Iris Selasky

Ever tackled a big remodel job for us and did an excellent job. He installed laminate floors throughout our home and remodeled our kitchen (painted cabinets, installed granite, and new backsplash). He also completed several painting projects (trim & bedrooms). He was easy to communicate with and finished the job within a reasonable amount of time.

My bathroom was really ugly and dysfunctional, with a big hole exposing the plumbing in the bathtub and broken vanity drawers that fell out when opened. After 31 years and being home to a family of 5, it was in dire need of a complete remodel. We had spent two years getting estimates, but they were all so high, we just couldn’t afford to have the work done. The companies we contacted offered no options and didn’t even seem interested in working on such a small project. Needless to say, I was discouraged. From the minute we walked into Watson Tile and Stone, it was different. We met Patsy and her husband and Angie and Ed. They were friendly and positive. The day, Ed came to our home to measure and give an estimate. I was embarrassed to even show him the bathroom, but he was so reassuring and gave me the opinion that my ideas were achievable and my small bathroom project was important. We found their estimate reasonable, and entered an agreement to have the work done. Two and a half weeks later, I couldn’t believe the transformation that had taken place in that bathroom. From the initial tear down, to the last screw put into place, the job was done by professional craftsmen, who took pride in their work, cared about our property and exceeded our expectations. The room is beautiful and I love it. Watson Tile and Stone and their skilled craftsmen delivered exactly what they promised and even more. They did it with the personal touch of people who care. Thank you Patsy and Angie for helping me pick colors, tile and granite and for always responding when I had questions or wanted to add something to the project. Thank you Hosea and Cirilo for the beautiful texture and paint; it really looks nice. The custom cabinets and granite are wonderful and look fantastic. I can’t even find words to thank James for all he did throughout the project and even afterwards. He is creative and skilled in so many aspects of his craft, but is outstanding in his attention to detail and customer satisfaction. He and his son, Jacob are a great team. That was last year, July 2010. In October 2011, I called Watson Tile and Stone and asked if they would be interested in doing our other bathroom. They agreed and I told Patsy I wanted it to be just like the first one with the same tile, granite, fixtures and etc. I also asked if the same craftsmen might be available to do the work. Now it’s finished and decorated and even more beautiful than our first project. No more ugly bathrooms in this house. We had the same level of support and the same professional craftsmen on our second project. We are VERY happy and appreciative customers. Thank you Watson Tile and Stone. Don’t be surprised if the phone rings again next year.

It is rare when you find a company that exceeds your expectations in every way. Bruce is a good communicator, responding quickly to all emails, texts, etc. He was punctual, professional and the quality of his work is excellent. His pricing was very fair compared to other quotes I received (especially the in-house estimates). He left both work areas neat and tidy. The work I had performed was part of an overall kitchen remodel as well as installing cabinets in the laundry room. The kitchen cabinets are Ikea but the laundry room cabinets are another pre-fab brand. While the installation process was different for the two types of cabinets, Bruce assembled and installed both sets of cabinets so well they look like custom cabinets! Bruce is very friendly and had endless patience for all my questions throughout the project. When he encountered a couple of quirks that weren't apparent on the blueprints, he suggested alternatives on how to make accommodations to provide the high-quality look I was expecting. My hardware came in late, so Bruce had to make a 2nd trip back to install it. He was able to get back out right away. I am extremely pleased with the experience I had working with Bruce and will definitely call him to work on my bathroom remodels! I highly recommend Dakota Cabinet Installation!

Mary is a great designer to work with. She redesigned my kitchen and breakfast area with the constraint I wanted to keep the countertops and cabinets. She did such a good job I don't even recognize my kitchen anymore. She is personable, professional and creative (to your tastes) yet will suggest ideas that might be slightly beyond, but in a good way. She listens to your suggestions and takes a very collaborative approach. I actually liked that she didn't necessarily work on a "get it done as quick as we can" approach as I can now look back on the final outcome with no regrets.

We had a large peninsula in our kitchen area jutting into our living room. I had the guys cut off the extra cabinets and counter. They framed in the new area and finished it off to look like it was built that way. They gave me a quote, showed up when they said they would and got the job done.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new kitchen!!! I ordered a modern style kitchen with glass facades from Modern Concept in May, the kitchen arrived from Europe in less than 5 weeks and was delivered and installed in my new house in North Dallas without any issues. It is SPUR stylish cool looking and specially created for my kitchen and house design. I love automatic opening hardware on drawers and cabinets, glass facades look slick and very modern! All my friends and neighbors are very impressed by this design, quality, and especially absolutely affordable price! I could get IKEA MDF kitchen for price of this European glass beauty! So happy with my order from Modern Concept and would highly recommend this company and glass kitchen. You can email me if you want my review o recommendations.

I had what I felt was an emergency leak and Chris came out quickly to remedy the problem. While he was here I had him look at my cabinets that were not opening and closing correctly and he fixed that while he was here. It’s great to find someone that takes pride in their work. I plan to have him upgrade one of my bathrooms next.

My wife and I chose NHance Advantage for cabinet refacing and we are stunned with the outcome. The quality and attention to detail John and his team provided told us that we made the best choice possible in a custom cabinet builder. I had put this project off for so long because we wanted to make sure we chose the right company and my only regret is that I hadn’t found NHance much sooner. John, Christen and Mike are very professional and easy to work with, they had our best interest in mind. The proof was in the workmanship. Thanks again! Jeff and Nikky

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you refinish kitchen cabinets?

If you’re ready for a new look and feel in your kitchen but don’t want to replace the cabinet layout or your cabinet doors, refinishing your existing kitchen cabinets is a great option. To be a good candidate for cabinet refinishing, your cabinet boxes and doors need to be in good condition. Cabinet refinishing includes taking down your doors, sanding or stripping the surface, preparing the doors with primer as needed, refinishing them with as many coats of stain or paint are necessary, then re-hanging them in their original locations. If you’re not in love with your kitchen cabinet layout, talk to a designer or contractor about creating an alternative. Refinishing simply means adding new shine to the existing setup, so if you’re dying to have a pull-out pantry or maximize wall space by going flush to the ceiling, you may want a different approach. Functional and stylish ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinets can be similar in cost to refacing your existing cabinets, so keep the budget-friendly RTA option in mind when making decisions.

      Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

      Can you resurface laminate cabinets?

Resurfacing laminate cabinets is an affordable and relatively easy way to give an outdated kitchen a fresh new look. If your existing cabinets are in good shape and you like your current cabinet layout, putting a fresh face on your kitchen could mean simply painting over the current laminate or putting a new laminate surface on the doors and drawers. Cabinet resurfacing may be possible for the capable DIY homeowner, but if you don’t have the proper tools or the know-how, it’s wise to call a handyman or a cabinet installation specialist to ensure you have a professional-looking outcome. To make sure your kitchen is right for cabinet resurfacing (as opposed to completely replacing your cabinets), ask yourself:

      • Do I like the layout of my current cabinets?
      • Are the cabinet boxes structurally sound?
      • Are the floor and framing in good condition to keep cabinets supported over time?
      • Are the cabinets free of water or wood damage?

      How do you resurface cabinets?

Resurfacing kitchen cabinets means that you retain your original cabinet boxes and existing cabinet layout and simply remove and replace the front layer of your cabinet doors. Cabinet resurfacing can also entail replacing damaged cabinet doors, keeping those that are in good shape, and installing a new surface on all of them. Cabinet resurfacing may also refer to a decision to completely change out cabinet doors because they are damaged or their style is out of date, but keeping the existing cabinet boxes and layout.

If you’re handy and have all the proper tools, cabinet resurfacing can be a DIY project, especially if you’re simply repainting. However, if you’re not comfortable removing and replacing your cabinet doors, doing precision measurements and cutting, or working with sanders and power tools, then this may be a project better left to the pros. You or your handyman or cabinet installation specialist will remove all cabinet door and drawer fronts and all hardware, then prepare the surfaces for a new layer. The pros should also update the veneer or laminate the frames to match. Once the new laminate, veneer or surface has been applied and new hardware installed, your cabinet doors and drawers are hung once more in their original locations. The national average cost for refacing cabinets is $5,000.

      How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
