I have had few personal trainers in my quest to reach my goals in fitness for the past 3 years. So, this is not a new year resolution for me. Recently, my TWO!!!! different personal trainers have become a little hard to establish a routine. My overall progress in strength, cardio and flexibility have stalled. Having a bad lower doesn't help, but with a KNOWLEDGEABLE professional trainer, the sky is the limit. Enter here Adam Smith. He is what I was lacking to reach the next level. Adam was quick to communicate, easy to schedule and was on time. Today after my first session, I can tell I finally got a Professional Trainer, that knows his trade. The session was ALL fun, full of new challenges and most important safe to my lower back. The Kickboxing part was an eye opening fun experience. Having a Karate background, I felt back at home. Can't wait for the next session in 3 days. I guess that the saying: "Can't teach an old dog new tricks", doesn't apply to me. At 55 years young, I am ready to learn and kick some serious........ ;-) If you are stuck in your fitness journey or are looking for a lifestyle change, don't waste time and call Adam. I Have studied with Justin for over 2 years. In that time amongst the many things he has taught me are ; sun, yang, and old yang style tai chi, bagua, self defense, and chi kung. I really appreciate the detailed explanations he gives as to what is behind what he teaches and the way the energy works. He is a very experienced, dedicated, knowledgable, patient, and grounded teacher. I have seen various students come to him after years of training in karate, grasshopper, or kung fu for example, and in one session realize that they have much to learn. Justin is the real deal. Yet he meets you at whatever level you are at. I highly recommend him.
Mike Suber was my martial arts mentor for four years. I can say firsthand that he has been a fantastic teacher and mentor. He has a wealth of knowledge and a depth of understanding in Okinawan karate, and a kind and patient heart to teach others. I would absolutely recommend Mike Suber as a martial arts teacher and as a mentor through life in general.
My Son took his lessons, and he was very patient and knowledgable about Martial Arts and Self-Defense. He teaches adults and children and made it easy to learn for everybody. It was such a great experience for the kids and adults. I would Highly Recommend him!
Both my son and I are students at the Steele School and have been so for 2 years. In addition to being a very talented martial artist and martial arts teacher, Sifu Steele goes the extra distance to teach my son valuable lessons related to character development. As to studying karate myself, it provides many of the actvities/exercise recommended for those of us hitting mid-age, i.e. core strengthening and flexibility. In addition Sifu Steele has created a wonderful environment, for learning and "belonging". The older kids look out for the younger kids, and the adults look out for all. A great place and great decision.
My daughter loves Southlake ATA! She has learned so much and become a lot more confident all while having fun, getting great exercise and making new friends. My daughter is only 4 belts in and is already enjoying the weapons program as well as the leadership program. Her confidence has improved 100% as well as her attitude. Mr. and Mrs. Boyer as well as the other instructors are patient and willing to work with a very wide range of ages and abilities. My daughters favorite thing is competing in tournaments and watching her fellow classmates compete and learning from them. She enjoys watching the students that are World Champions and State Champions and strives to follow in their footsteps. I am confident she is in the right place to do just that! This is the place to go if you are wanting to try Martial Arts for you or your kids!
I took self defense lessons from him for about a year and it helped with my self confidence and took away a lot of fear I had about going out in public, especially evenings alone. He introduced me to moves that I dont think you can learn from anywhere else with the intention of self defense, and not karate, but actual self defense if someone grabbed you from behind. I was very impressed with the knowledge and the care he took to release my fears. I would recommend hum for any woman for self defense.
