She did an excellent job on our wedding. Very responsive and professional. Outstanding value for the cost. Our wedding was very small and short but we did not feel any less care was taken. We were very pleased with the outcome.

Absolutely brilliant team. Great service before and after the event. Our highlights video could not be better - we will cherish it forever. I would not be surprised to see these guys in the credits of Hollywood blockbusters in a few years - get them as your wedding videographers now before they are famous. For the amount of hours they spend planning and editing as well as the filming on the day - they are exceptional value. Could not be happier.

Monica and her husband are both very nice persons. They helped me take the video of my wedding and reception, about 4 hours. They took every single detail of my wedding. In order to make sure it would be fine on the wedding day, they came to our church the day before. After the wedding, they helped me cut the film into a highlight, as well as full films for that day, which are more than awesome. They always smile to everybody, and help me a lot. I feel that they are the persons truly loving their work. It's my pleasure to invite them as my videographer.

I would like to give Tim a standing ovation for doing such an amazing job on our wedding video. He captured moments that I didn't even think to add to my shot list. He was very professional and listened to what my husband and I wanted. We opted to have him for 6 hours, so that he could film the pre-ceremony preparations. The end result was so beautiful and sentimental. He even offered to give us a highlight video to post to our social network page, how awesome is that! If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely choose Highlight Weds.

Working with GM Media Production was truly a memorable and captivating experience. Grant captured our wedding day in such a way that will be remembered throughout the years and beyond! We have watched our video nearly every day since we received it and have loved sharing the experience with family and friends– especially those who were unable to make it to the wedding. The video takes us back to our wedding day every time and reminds us of the grace set before us. Grant captured every moment (even those we may have missed), caught it on camera, and used his skill set to bless our hearts tremendously. We would highly recommend GM Media Production to any and all engaged couples looking for a way to capture their special moment and make it last forever. Though we have only been married 3 months, we are eager to sit down 50 years down the road and be reminded of the day that changed our lives forever. Grant, thank you for using your gift in a mighty way to impact our lives. We will cherish this video till the end of our days!

Ali and his son are amazing and super hard working. When you use sites like this, it's always scary if you'll end up with the right person, but they are amazing videographers and photographers. I'm so enthralled by my beautiful pictures and the amazing extra work he did on them. Made my special day memorable and 100% more special. I highly recommend them.

We are thrilled that we hired Andre as our videographer for our wedding. Andre made the hiring process very easy and he has a very professional appearance. He stayed for the full 6 hours of filming to capture the best moments of wedding. Our feature film perfectly fit our taste and we feel transported back to our wedding day each time we watch it. Andre is an extremely talented videographer and he captured the exact feeling of the day with his camera. I highly recommend that you hire him for your wedding.

I do not even know where to begin...Alex did an INCREDIBLE job with our wedding video. Being a wedding photographer myself, I knew that the value of wedding day storytelling. So with that, I have always been a big supporter of photography, but now Alex has now shown me the value of wedding videography (especially as a bride). I have watched our video I don't know how many times, and every single time I notice something new, feel something new, and just experience all the emotions all over again. Alex knows how to capture the essence of your day through interactions, different angles, details...he has an amazing eye! During the day, I hardly noticed him (which is what you want)...he did a great job of being "unseen", and capturing the raw moments without being intrusive. All of this to say, definitely book Alex to capture your wedding...you will not be disappointed in the quality and beauty in his work! -Kate & Andrew

My wife and I got married on 11.03.12. J&J did a FANTASTIC job on our wedding video. They were on time; they were courteous and great to work with. They had multiple HD cameras and captured lots of moments that we were not able to see or enjoy during the event, which makes our video that much more valuable to us. A short time after the ceremony they contacted us and asked us if we had any song suggestions which we sent to them and they used perfectly. We would not hesitate to use them again and we would strongly recommend them to anyone that might need a videographer for any occasion. GREAT job guys!! Look forward to using you all again as our children start to have events in their lives.

When I first met Rachel I knew right off the bat that she was going to be our (my wife I) wedding videographer. We expressed our needs/requests for the wedding video and Rachel went above and beyond. Anyone who has been or is married knows that planning your wedding can be a strenuous task mentally and physically, but Rachel helped alleviate most of the stress. Theres' an old adage that says 'you get what you pay for', and I can tell you that never before have I felt like I got every pennies' (plus more) worth out of Rachels videography. Rachel is a tedious, patient, hardworking, and most of all genuine videographer who takes pride and passion in her profession to the next level. On our wedding day Rachel was the first person to arrive and the last person to leave. Rachel was kind enough to even take last minute requests from my wife and I and she never complained, she only responded "its your wedding day, I am here to serve you." Rachel got every moment in our wedding that we could have wished for recorded to perfection. Rachel is not just a 'videographer', she can literally do all things wedding related, she helped arrange/consult and give insight in regards to design strategy, angles of guest perception, and even cut our wedding cake. Most wedding videographers have a flat rate, but Rachel only charges you for the services she provides.Once the wedding was over she gives you daily and weekly updates in regards to your video as its being finalized. After she finalizes your wedding video and approves it, she provides dvd's and USB access, along side your own personal video site link so that you have unlimited access to your happily ever after moment forever. Rachel is the best, and they say.."chose the best, or chose nothing." Her dedication, attention to detail, quality, convenience, efficiency, and reliability are unmatched. Here is the video link to our wedding. https://vimeo.com/151580821 The video speaks volumes for itself. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact her or myself if you need more details.

Brady Clayton is a 5-star individual, both as a videographer and as a person! When we watched the videos he made before deciding to have him shoot our wedding, we knew within just a few moments that we wanted him to capture our special day and we are so glad we made that decision! The wedding video he made for my husband and I took our breath away and he was so easy to work with from start to finish, and he always got back to our questions really quickly. He was very attentive to our video wishes as a couple, very professional on our wedding day and he's hands down the funniest guy we've ever met, so it's very easy to just relax and be yourself when he's around. I cannot recommend him highly enough as a videographer! Hire him, you won't regret it at all!!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
