FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. Continuing education is a must in personal training. I feel lucky to live so close to the Cooper Institute, where I can attend classes, read articles, and/or take webinars to increase my knowledge. In addition, I use information available through my membership with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had 2 careers running in parallel for almost 25 years, corporate health care industry and martial arts. I started as a medical technologist working in a hospital lab that studied, trained, and competed in Taekwondo. I held many different jobs at Abbott Laboratories while teaching martial arts at the Grapevine Community Activities Center. Toward the end of my career at Abbott, I felt a pull to focus on my passion for sports and fitness. I retired from Abbott, and returned to school earning a Master of Science in Sports Management and attended the personal training program at the Cooper Institute. I love martial arts and personal training, which still relates to healthy living and well being.
