I would highly recommend Medina Construction and Roofing for several reasons. First, Marcial Medina went above and beyond to help me with my insurance claim. He was willing to meet with my insurance adjustor (on the roof) and negotiated for me to receive a full replacement instead of a partial. Secondly, he kept in contact with me to let me know his schedule as we waited for HOA approval. Lastly, I expected to pay up front, at least partially, but his reply was, " when I am finished is fine. " this let me know he manages time and finances carefully. I was able to repair the entire roof, upgrade to a laminate 30yr shingle. The job was done in one day (under 2000sq ' house) and clean up was immaculate! Thanks again Marcial!

These guys were truly professional. After doing extensive repairs to my roof and laminate flooring, they even offered at any time to come back to fix ANYTHING they might have missed. Since then i have not found a single problem and look forward to having them back to complete my bathroom renovation. Keto Roofing and Contracting earned an A+ from me.

Fantastic service, I will definitely use again and will recommend to everyone I know. City Wide was the third company who came out to investigate a roof leak. The other companies were unable to determine the cause. These guys found the leak very quickly and patched it right up.

Darrell and his crew did a great job of replacing my roof at a very fair price. Darrell took the time to suggest what was appropriate for my style of roof and evaluated and prescribed a solution for the problem that I was having with valley leaks and explained why I was having those issues. When it came time to execute the job Darrell recommended that we wait until after the predicted weather that was scheduled to hit at the time that we agreed to do the job. As it turned out the weather event was pretty extreme and a large branch had fallen from a tree and clipped the corner of my house, damaging the support for that corner. No worries, Darrell's crew had a experienced carpenter that quickly repaired the structural damage. The roof went on fine and Darrell took the time between the old roof coming off and the new roof going on to inspect the existing decking on the house. I was prepared to replace the decking if need be but Darrell explained why the existing decking is vastly superior to what is being produced today and that I should definitely keep it on and even use it as selling point should I ever choose to sell the house. Nice to know. When the job was complete everything was cleaned up to the point that you would have never known anyone was there ripping off an entire roof. The new roof looks great. Even the neighbors have commented on how nice the roof looks. And, no more issues with the low sloping valleys. Job well done.

Select Construction did an excellent job with the roof repair and replacement. They worked with the insurance company and the public adjustor to get the job done right. After the construction was complete, they were extremely patient with us and in dealing with the insurance company. The roof looks wonderful and the work was done in one day.

Eddie Rollins and his team did a great job on our fence. Everything is straight, sharp, even height, and clean. The fencing crew showed up in well-maintained vehicles, looked and acted professional, went about their job quickly and efficiently, and cleaned up thoroughly every day when they were done. They showed care and respect for our property. Eddie explained the process before they started, and communicated with us during the job. He also coordinated the payment for shared fence lines with the neighbors. CMC made the process as easy and painless as they possibly could, and we couldn't be happier with the fence. We had lower bids but went with a reputable, BBB-accredited member, and I am glad we did. I would not hesitate to recommend them for a fence or a roof.

Five Star Renovations built a covered patio that tied into the existing roof of my house and it looks like it was built with the house. The guys did great job and continually strived for a flawless product. They cleaned the site on a daily basis and treated my home with great respect. They repainted my house and it looks amazing. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and will use his service again. Chong will not leave until you are satisfied.

I called Velesa Construction to ask for an estimate regarding roof repairs for a house we are about to buy. Veronica responded promptly and emailed an estimate in less than 24 hours. The project is not completed because the seller of the house is responsible for it.

A&K were very responsive to my needs. They got me an estimate very quickly and performed the work on-time, even finishing up some last minute items on a Sunday at my request. I think the price was fair for the work done and the warranty period is sufficient to confirm the job is complete. I am glad I used a waterproofing company rather than a generic handyman.

I contacted A Plus with a small request. Luis picked up the ball and ran with it. Not only did he help me with my roofing claim and the insurance adjuster, but so many other projects I had coming on that property and others. As a Property Manager, I love having all my repairs performed by someone I already work with!

Brandon and his team did a great job! I had a minor leak in my roof that was dripping into my attic, and they got it fixed. They were fast and got right to work. I had a small issue right after the repair and he sent someone out immediately to fix it. I really trust his guarantee and quality of work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
