John is a very gifted and intuitive massage therapist. I have worked with him for over 4 years on a regular (every 2 weeks) basis for 2 1/2 hour sessions. Needless to say, at this point he knows exactly what my body, mind, and spirit need although we chat about my current needs before each massage. Remembering my first experiences with John, he put me at ease from the start, making certain that I was having the best massage experience possible. Being a woman, the thought of working with a male therapist was a little unnerving at first. But it quickly became apparent that John was the best therapist out there. John pays a great deal of attention to the details of each massage, very carefully setting up the room so that I am completely comfortable. It is clear that he considers each massage an honor not just another job. The warm oil and the aromatherapy that he incorporates are awesome! I honestly cannot come up with suggestions for improvements...John is always open to feedback. I wish that everyone who is seeking massage therapy has the opportunity to get to know John.

Destiny is a true professional in massage therapy. She is always on schedule for my appointment(even if I’m late). She responds to texts for appointments within a fair time especially if she is with other clients. Destiny listens to me too and she knows how to massage and stretch out any ailments I may have!

Work quality and responsiveness distinguish a mssage therapist. Punctuality and professionalism are just givens. They have to be there but you don't choose someone because of them. Value obviously depend on price and companies get their profit which doesn't benefit the customer. Daniel worked on me at Elements after two other massage therapists, who were good, did not quite give me the level of relief I was hoping for. Besides all the good things that good massage therapists do (smooth flow, right touch, listen to what I want) Daniel had more to give. His knowledge of techniques and ability to apply them put him among the top masseurs among many, many I've had. He could vary his touch and stroke according to what he felt with a greater degree of sensitivity than most. He was great with hot stones. Beyond that, he combined styles, added stretches that helped a lot (showing me how to do them at home) and sometimes would manipulate a part of my body into a position that alleviated pain. I think he would do some home study to find the best ways to help. Can you get more responsive or give better quality than that? But I kept up at elements because I was getting great massages from Daniel. I really wanted to focus on what makes Daniel great. I had to suspend massages when I started physical therapy. When I finished, Daniel was gone. Very sad. I tried someone else once or twice, then ended my contract. I wish massage was covered by insurance the way PT is.

I know massage therapy from 10 years experience getting them. I can safely say that for my money, there is no better massage therapist than Hector. He is a natural for this work because of his gentle strength, intuitive responses, and his calm and unassuming demeanor. He has one goal: to make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Plus, his fees are are quite reasonable, so he deserves any extra you might consider.

I’ve been working with Billy for several years. Had been to a few others before finally meeting him. Billy always checks on how I’m doing and knows exactly what needs to be done to keep me mobile and active despite my bad back, neck and shoulders. Highly recommend Billy for massage therapy, especially if you’re dealing with medical issues and want to do conservative treatment as long as possible to avoid surgery.

i had losts of pain, tried exercises, and unfortunately resolvee to use painkillers, after visiting personal Doctor. I have seen Dr, Rod work on others, and did not subscribe to these methods. I submitted to an attempt with him, and after one treatment I feel relieved of pain that other therapy (Doctors, Therapist, Chiropractors, Massages and drugs) could not nor did not resolve. It is amazing the simplicity of what he did brought me great relief. If he can help you, then I Highly recommend him. I know that he will do all that he can for you.

I came to massage therapy after years of working closely with Physical Therapists and Chiropractors. Treating ailments, that were a result of injuries, weight training, aerobics, and an active life style, drove me to help others. My 21 years of experience makes it possible for me to offer a world class massage. My clients have experienced relief from stress and fatigue, back pain, neck pain, sciatica, arthritis, muscle spasms and many other symptoms. My work is my passion. The quality of massage and your satisfaction are the most important to me. My clean & charming private studio is located in Plano, Texas. My sheets and towels are sterilized. I use only 100% organic products.

My mission as a Lifecoach at World Star Therapy is to provide an out of this world service when it comes to lighting up the lives of our Dallas's professionals. “Following your dreams” and reaching your full potential can at times seem impossible. However, as a life enthusiast with a psychology and business degree it’s my goal to harness the power of positivity to break down the mental barriers we unknowingly create for ourselves. As a neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) practictitioner, I will use a specialized technique to help guide you to realize that the only thing holding you back in life, yourself. NLP practitioners use the idea of a map to illustrate how we can only view our own representations of the world, not the world itself. Because of this, NLP is considered to be one of the most useful and accessible tools to come from modern psychology. NLP is used to assist the development of stress management, improving feelings of empathy, improving communication skills and resolving destructive relationship patterns. Together with positive psychology, I will help you to be the best person that you can be in this life. It is easy for people to set themselves up for failure if they are constantly thinking negative thoughts. Comments such as, “I’m not good enough”, or “other people are better than me” can limit an experience and the chance of accomplishment. As your coach of life, I will identify self-imposed restrictions by tracking cognitive behavior patterns and give you the tools to work on them allowing you to move forward. My background in psychology investigated people’s beliefs about causal relationships and how it influenced their thinking, especially in regard to how they think about categories in the world. My social psychology research interests fall at the intersection of attitudes and persuasion, automaticity, and the self. Imagine having clarity about who you truly are and what the purpose of your life is. Meditate on why you are so uniquely you, and what your beautiful soul has to offer this world. Clarity is such a wonderful thing, and I can provide that for you helping you awaken the soul. Without the right guidance in your life, your mindset will continue to be under active, blocked or over active thus bringing you confusion, inability to focus, negative thoughts and feelings, bad health, suppression of emotions, feelings of insecurity and doubt in yourself, fear, shyness, and going backwards on the path of life. It’s your time. Through my professional life coaching techniques you experience personal growth and feel a positive change! The only thing holding you back is requesting a free quote today!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

    • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
    • Nutritional medicine
    • Botanical medicine
    • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
    • Hygiene
    • Counseling
    • Minor surgery
    • Homeopathy
    • Acupuncture
    • Intravenous and injection therapy
    • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

    Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

    • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
      • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
    • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
      • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
      • Do I need a referral?
      • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
      • What will the co-pay be?
      • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
    • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.

    Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.
