I have always had a bad taste in my mouth when dealing with roofers, however Dana Gregory and Rowley Roofing has changed all that. The crew worked hard. quickly and neatly. I would give Rowley an "outstanding" rating.

I had a mysterious roof leak around the chimney. I called three roofers, one suggested I replace the entire roof, the second suggested the water is leaking from the ridges. And Darrell, suggested that the roof is leaking due to improper flashing. Darrell's suggestion was more inline with my observation. I hired Darrell, and he came out and did the job right. Today we had a pretty serious thunderstorm and I checked the leak and there was none. I feel relief now that the leak issue is fixed. Thank you Darrell for a job well done. Since you also gave a 1 year warranty I have extra peace of mind on the workmanship. I highly recommend Darrell for any roof repair work. Thanks Darrell.

We had a hard time figuring out, who was gonna do our roof. For we wanted someone honest. Any roofer will work a deal, but finding one that is honest was not as hard as we thought. Firewheel did exactly as he said he would do. Very experienced crew, clean and fast. Definitely recommend Firewheel to anybody seeking honest, clean, fast, and experienced roofing.

Five Stars All the way! Carsa Construction did a fabulous job on our roof and ceilings. We purchased our home last year and our inspector did not thoroughly inspect our roof. With all the rain this year we ended up having 5 leaks and damage to the interior. C.J. came out understanding that we were paying out of pocket they replaced our roof and repaired the inside ceilings. C.J. followed up on the work always making sure the work was up to our satisfaction. The roofers did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. The drywall and painters did a super job on the ceilings. One of our ceilings is a 18-20ft ceiling and is located in the entrance of our home. His guys worked and worked to make sure the area was repaired properly and it looks amazing. We are extremely pleased with Carsa Construction. Thank you C.J.

I hired Infinity Roofing to work on my home from the recent hail storms from March 2016. The initial contact from Josh the project manager was amazing. He was very professional and walked me through the entire process. If I had any questions once the work began he just a phone call away. This was important to me due to my recent experience with another company. From the outside work to the inside work the workers were great as well and picked up after themselves. I would recommend Infinity Roofing as a profession company. Thanks guys for the great work and professionalism!!!! Ms. Talib

Titan Roofing did a great job on our roof. This last summer we had Walter come out and inspect our roof due to last springs hail storms. Walter was exceptionally professional and knowledgeable about roofing. He took his time to walk us through the entire process. He helped us through the entire process including the filing of the claim with our insurance company. He was able to be here when our adjuster came out to inspect and worked with the adjuster to make sure that the adjuster noted all the various damaged items. The hail storms had caused damage to the roof, vents, gutters, fencing, A/C condensors, and even our solar screens. When our claim was approved, Titan roofing was able to complete all the repairs, or provided reputable company referrals to have the additions repairs completed. Walter scheduled our repairs to be completed on our timeframe with what worked best for us. My wife and I both work full time and with two small children we wanted a company that would work with our schedules. Walter communicated every aspect of the repairs prior to work begining. The materials and crew to replace the roof arrived on the scheduled day and time, the job was completed in two days due to the size of our roof. When the crew finished our site was cleaned throughly with no trash or nails left on site. Walter reinspected the roof, and even inspected the attic to make sure the work was completed to his standards. Walter made sure to double check that his crew had not missed any nails by also rolling our yard with his own magnet aswell as our neighbors. The remaining repairs were also completed in the same exact manner with Walter confirming each repair was completed to our approval. This is the second time that we have used Titan roofing, we love their work and the attention to detail. We will be using Titan Roofing again in the future! Would certainly recommend!

David did a thorough professional job regarding my roof calling out a damaged roof right on the dot - which insurance agreed with - and then followed up to negotiate with them for adjusting underestimations. He scheduled on time working around weather predictions with caution. He is not only a honest and professional roofer, but the best representative you can get for yourself with your insurance.

If anyone is in need of a good and reputable roofer, I recommend Zip Roofing & Construction Services. They provided a complimentary inspection of my roof and the exterior property that was damaged during the storm. They replaced our window screens and a cracked glass window in addition to repairing our fence and installing new gutters and downspouts. Mike and the crew are really friendly, very reliable and completed the work without interrupting our daily schedules. They made sure that the attic ventilation is balanced so that our attic is as cool as it can be. Never did I feel pressured by anyone in their organization. They are giving all their customers a new solar powered attic fan with every new roof. By calling Marissa anytime at 214-200-6008, you are taking the first step to a very rewarding experience.

Because I had to pay out of pocket to get my roof replaced, I had to find a roofer that would give me a good job at a very reasonable rate. The well-known roofing companies that I contacted had quotes for me that made me uncomfortable. In my searching I found Thumbtack. I had never the service before, but I thought I would give it a try. I posted my need on Thumbtack and JemPro was fast to communicate with me and to come out and give me a free estimate. I highly recommend JemPro for your roofing needs. They are a family owned and operated company and their price simply cannot be beat! They were on time and very diligent in getting the job done right (I actually witnessed the pains they took when working around my chimney). Their cleanup was perfect. I do not have one complaint. They were absolutely wonderful!

I hired Mike when I needed to sell my home and move upstate. I was reluctant in hiring him because he didn't have a crew. He promised me that he would get the job done in the time frame he said. I hired him on his word and was surprised by his efforts. He had his work down to a science. I was home most of the time to check on him and he proved his word to me. My new roof looked great. We had a heavy rain a couple of days later and my wife and I looked everywhere for any leaks. We didn't find any. Even though he had no crew he worked hard and did a great job. I would certainly hire him again if we ever move back to Texas and need a roofer.

I contacted Alpha Roofing to get a quote and statement of work for Hail damage to my roof. I had contacted other roofers in the metroplex and clearly selected Alpha Roofing. Glenn was upfront and answered any and all questions that I had. I also wanted roof vents added and he provided addtional costing which was very reasonable. I would Highly recommend Alpha Roofing to anyone needing their roof replaced. They came in, replaced the roof, cleaned up and did an excellent job.

My wife and I hired Alpha construction to replace our roof after a hail storm. Seth, the General Contractor we worked with, was excellent. He was very easy to talk to and kept us very up-to-date with all the steps in the process. He worked very hard with us and our HOA on getting the right materials approved for a special metal section when the HOA denied my wife and I's first choice. All of the sub-contractors he sent out, the roofers, electricians, and AC/Heating did quality work, and Seth made sure during the work and after if we were happy with them. It was a large job dealing with all the different repair people, the insurance co, and the HOA, and Seth handled it very professionally and we really felt that he took very good care of us, and made our satisfaction his top priority. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend him.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
