Dan replaced wooden porch rails pickets. Work included painting the new wood and attaching the rail assemblies to brick pillars. Quality of work was good, rails were mounted well and were symetrical. Work was done in a timely manner. Rate was very reasonable.

Hiring Jackye for the cleaning house we were moving in was a worth of money. Her bid was little higher than other cleaning service but I hired her since she had great reviews and it was the right choice. She was very patient also on my change of schedule(twice) due to the painting of the house. My house is now sparkly clean! Thank you Jackye!

Fantastic job!! We had some issues with the previous owner painting over the vents leaving them sealed around the edges. Robbin made sure everything was removed and done well. Could not have asked for a more professional job.

Larry installed 3 toilets on his 1st visit and did a list of other items on his 2nd visit (e.g. painting behind toilets to cover up wallpaper, installing front door handle/lock, assembling headboard, etc.). He is very quick and efficient in addition to being reasonably-priced. I will definitely be using him again for other things around the house.

Mr. Macon performed an outstanding job on the interior painting of my house in Plano. Macon Painting was On-Time and On-Quote for the job. I thought I had the week off to hang out and watch, turned out there was no need too. Mr. Macon proved to me and my family he was an honest person AND contractor. I had to leave for work and left Mr. Macon and his crew there to work the painting and never had an issue with theft or not showing up as I've had with other contractors unfortunately. I would recommend this Painting company to anyone who is in need of a great paint job with no headaches! Please contact me if you have any questions about this Company. Would be happy to answer them. Carlos Carmano replaced wood on our roof line chewed by the squirrels and painted - it was as if no damage had happened at all once he finished his work. We are VERY satisfied.

Manny's Painting was easy to communicate with. Very professional. He always responded quickly. The price was great and the quality of work was amazing. I had him install shelves in a coat closet for a food storage pantry. I have ten children and there isn't a pantry in this fifty year old house. I was running all over the house to get supplies to make dinner. Manny made the shelves strong and durable. Since this closet is in the mud room I don't have him paint the shelves. He caulked them anyways so they would be prepared in case I changed my mind. He worked quickly and since I purchased all the materials he was thorough making sure I purchased all the correct items. They were finished a couple hours before they said they would be done.

Rey and his team did a great job painting the inside and outside of our house even when I added extra rooms at the last minute. They repaired siding and drywall where needed making the repairs unnoticeable. They washed the cabinets down before painting them and installed new hardware. They even came back to paint the new baseboards after we had new flooring installed. They were on time, polite, professional, cleaned up when they were done and reasonably priced. We would hire them again if we needed work done.

Sam and his crew were awesome!!! They were on time, professional and the quality is above excellent! I will definitely be hiring them again to complete other work at my home!!!! Sam is awesome and I didn’t get the other guy name that was with him but he was awesome as well! You can tell there was a great working relationship between them that made the job go by seamless! I 1000% recommend them! Attached or before and after pics! FYI: Paint and plastic is in picture because that was the remainder of the paint I purchased. They did not leave anything in the room except exceptional painting!

Jacob told me that the area didn't need KILZ used on it before he painted. He stated that if the water stain showed through he would come back and redo the paint work. He has made plans to come and fix or repaint the area but each time he has not shown up and has not called or texted the reason he did not show up; he often has not returned my text. At this point we are not at all satisfied with his work. An explanation would be nice.

Steve is an amazing artist, with the creativity to help you draw a vision for your space. He painted a mural on a plain, white wall in the entrance of our office that impeccably portrays the vibrancy of Uptown Dallas. Our office was transformed from dull to exciting in a matter of days. There is not a single person who walks into our office that does not stop and say, "Wow! What an incredible mural! Who did that?!" - Peyton Shea with Uptown Dallas, Inc.

Sherry painted an amazing mural to surprised my husband for our 25th wedding anniversary. He loves jimmy buffet and she created a one of a kind margarita style beach mural with palm trees, ocean and a beach on our 36x36 barn front. She also painted our herd cow Dixie the Hereford on our tack room. She is amazing, is super kind, and an paint anything on any surface. Your neighbors and city will be envious once she paints your design.

We love Bill and his crew! We initially hired him to paint the exterior of our historic home and were so impressed that we keep hiring him to do more. He has now painted our home's exterior, living room, stairwell, outdoor decks, exterior doors, and Study wall. Up next is the master and kitchen! They do a phenomenal job, are timely, and fair priced. You will not be disappointed if you hire Bill!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
