The J&M Move It team did a very good quality job with my move. They had 3 movers and 2 supervisors come out for my move. Although it took much longer (7 hours) for the move than I expected, I did not have anything damaged and Matt even came out a couple of days later to bring me something I forgot to get back from one of the movers that I needed. He and the team really went above and beyond. Nice job J&M

I moved many times in the past, from doing it myself to hiring movers, King David Movers provided by far the best experience. From the sales agent in the office to the movers themselves, the team of movers came to our house were highly skilled and concerned with making sure we were well-informed about and satisfied with our move. Our main concern was getting several heavy items to the third floor. With their competitive price it was worth it to just have them do the whole move rather than doing it myself. We are happy that we appointed them for our move.

The movers at AmerApex Moving could not have done a better job moving our belongings over 2,000 miles away. The crew was on time, polite, very careful, and kept the move fun and in good spirits. Nothing was damaged and the price did not budge a penny. Thank you again for making my move across country stress free. I will be recommending AmerApex Moving to all my friends and family!

Moving across the country is stressful. Great Nation made things so much better. I read horror story after horror story about every moving company, scary. Finally, I just went with my gut, which was guiding me to Great Nation. I was afraid of standard things like items breaking or being charged way more than expected, but mostly I was nervous about my things arriving in a timely fashion so I could begin my new job and feel organized. I was picked up and delivered 3 days later. It was super fast and I was almost afraid they would get to New York before me. I would not hesitate to hire this company. My contract was spot on and I had zero issues, no damage, no scratches, no breaks! They take extreme care with wrapping all my furniture so I was very happy to see everything arrive in perfect condition

These guys worked hard and fast. They wrapped my furniture and loaded my u haul for me. They gave me a great deal and really took a lot of stress off me. Super respectful too! I was driving a u haul by myself across country and they even checked in on me to make sure I arrived safely. They really care about their clients and I would recommend them to any one!

K & C 1st Class Movers were the absolute best movers I had ever encountered. I've used them several times from small in-house furniture moves to across the country moves for some of my family members. Ken, the owner, of the company exhibits the utmost professionalism and ensures that his employees do the same, in addition to utilizing the top of the line skills and problem-solving strategies during each and every move. I highly recommend this company above all others!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
