Julie B. says, "We needed help extracting water and drying our floors, from the recent floods in Houston. We contacted Elite Emergency Solutions and the team was very responsive, considering the situations all over the city. Erick (owner) was on-site with the team and explained everything that would need to be done, breaking down the information in detail, so that it was easy to understand. They didn't waste anytime getting the equipment setup and running. Everyone courteous and professional and after a few hours, everything was clean and in order, and we have avoided any further damage or future issues with mold. Elite Emergency Solutions is the perfect name for this company and they are highly recommended!"See more

Kim N. says, "Christian and Julian did an EXCEPTIONAL JOB on my home (above and beyond the project at hand). My home is only 4 years old (built from the ground up), due to lack of job completion from the builders, I started having mold coming out of my A/C vents; getting all over my furniture. When I called Clean, Restore & More, Christian came out the same day, and walked and talked me through the whole process of what was needed to be repaired in my home. I was given a reasonable quote (I had called around and other places were sky high), and I set the day I wanted the work to be done. Christian and Julian arrived 15 minutes early, we walked my home and I was explained the process that was going to take place. Every two hours, I was receiving pictures of the work being done via text message, and they completed the job two hours ahead of schedule. Being in a fairly still new home, I should not have been experiencing mold in my home, but I am truly THANKFUL that I was able to get it taken care of by professional, courteous, caring, friendly people. I would HIGHLY RECCOMMEND anyone that may be experiencing mold problems in their home to call Clean, Restore & More, ASAP!!! Again, THANK YOU... THANK YOU... THANK YOU... Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How much does it cost to repair a couch?

It can cost anywhere from $55-$300 to repair furniture, such as a couch. However, most people spend $100-$150 on furniture repairs. Ultimately, how much you’ll pay to fix a broken couch will depend on the specific repairs needed, the couch’s size and other factors. That’s why you should always get cost estimates from several repair services to find out how much it’ll cost to repair your couch or sofa.

What does it cost to reupholster furniture?

Most people pay between $249-$454 for upholstery service. Prices can range from $55 to over $3,000. You can get personalized cost estimates for your furniture by contacting professionals on Thumbtack

Give the pros details about your furniture. For example, do you need a couch, loveseat, dining chairs, armchair, recliner and car seat reupholstered? How many pieces of furniture do you have? And what’s the material? These details can help the pro accurately estimate the cost to reupholster your furniture.

How much does upholstery repair cost?

Furniture upholstery services cost $360, on average. The average cost range is $249-$454, but prices can range from $55 to over $3,000.

Various factors will drive the cost up and down, including the type of furniture, its details and material. Get personalized price quotes from upholstery repair services near you.

How much does upholstery cleaning cost?

The cost to have your upholstered furniture cleaned depends mostly on two factors: the size of the furniture and the type of fabric. The national average cost of upholstery cleaning ranges from $120 to $150. Most people have multiple pieces cleaned at once, but sofa cleaners will come to your home for just one heavily soiled couch or to spot-treat stains. The smaller the furniture, the lower the cost: A lounge chair may cost an average of $50 to clean, while a couch costs an average of $135 and an L-shaped sectional costs an average of $190. Delicate materials such as antique fabrics or suede upholstery are more expensive to clean than sturdier ones. Having the sofa cleaner do repairs will also add to the cost. Repairs such as mending a tear in fabric or patching a hole in leather may be charged by the task or by the hour; in general, repairs cost an average of $15 each. Special or delicate fabrics may cost additional fees, too.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

How do you repair torn upholstery?

To repair torn upholstery, you may be able to patch the tear with glue and fabric. Or, you might be able to sew the seams together. But if you don’t know how to DIY this repair, the tear is too big or you just don’t want to do this task, you can hire an upholstery repair professional instead.

Who can repair car upholstery?

Look for upholstery repair services near you on Thumbtack. Many of these professionals can repair car seats, sofas, dining chairs, armchairs and more.

Is it cheaper to reupholster or buy new furniture?

It may be cheaper to reupholster your sofa, chairs and other furniture instead of buying new pieces. However, you’ll need to do a bit of research to be sure.

First, get cost estimates from upholstery professionals in your area. Then, compare the cost of reupholstery to the cost of buying new furniture. If it’s cheaper to reupholster the pieces than buy new sets, book an appointment with the pro who provides the best price.
