FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing in this field is tough because projects differ in so many ways. Take logo design, for example. No two logos are the same, so the requirements of completing such a design vary greatly by project. As such, I avoid setting up hard pricing. Instead, I provide a rough estimate that is at the top of a range for the given project. I keep track of my time and charge hourly up to the quoted estimate. If my hourly charges equate to less of the estimate, I charge only what is incurred. If they go over, I max myself out on charges at the estimate (I do, of course, complete the project at the same service level of when I was charging). So your project may cost less than the quoted price, but it will never cost more.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yep! In addition to my undergraduate degrees (B.A.s in both Journalism & Mass Communication and International Studies), I've also achieved my MBA in Marketing and Executive Development. Additionally, I frequently enroll in design courses just to ensure I stay on top of current trends and developments.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
To be honest, it was never really a choice; it was more of a calling. I've always had a dorky passion for the work I do (wordsmithing and document design are my favorites). I was pre-accepted into a collegiate Journalism & Mass Communication program when I was in high school and I've never looked back since!
