If anyone is looking to get their tile and grout cleaned, call Lone Star Pro Services, $0.68 per sqft as promised and $49.99 for the first 100sqft special! They just cleaned my entire first-floor tile over 19 years old and it looks as good as new. Amazing customer service and very thorough technicians. I highly recommend.

We hired M. Gourault for a leak repair that required problem-solving, scaling heights and ingenuity. Upon our first conversation, I came away impressed with his knowledge and ability to explain matters in a way that I could understand. Mr. Gourault uncovered the source of the leak (damaged caulking from an exterior fan vent) after checking the windows, attic and gutter. It was repaired along with the damage to the window to look as good as new. He even cleaned another fan vent clogged by lint and properly secured it to the wall. Throughout, Mr. Gourault provided cost effective suggestions to fix up our property. As a bonus, we were able to conduct our business together entirely in French - customer service is certainly a strength. I would recommend Mr. Gourault without hesitation for general home repairs and look forward to working with him again.

Stephen was prompt, professional, and honest about what we should expect from our carpet cleaning. Great job. We also had the tile and grout done at a home we are purchasing with equally great results and service! I would not hesitate to recommend him or use him again!!!

Good work at great price. Overall the work was very good, but I had some small issues. A few of the tiles were not level with their neighbours and we had to go back and clean up some grout lines by hand the day after, but nothing major.

We had all of our downstairs carpet removed and 18" tiles installed over about 1000 sq ft. Juan was prompt, courteous and professional as all of the previous posters already commented. In our case, he performed miracles, our formal living room and dining room had over a full inch variance in the slab and we were sure we were doomed to have to put carpet back down but Juan has such great technical ability he was able to level the area and still match the tile transitions with our existing wood floors. They came out looking spectacular! The grout lines are exactly as we wanted and he hauled off and cleaned up everything when he was finished. We couldn't be happier as he did all he promised and more. We highly recommend him to anyone considering tile work. Thanks again Juan, we will be using you for future shower remodel.

Darron was fantastic! He answered me very quickly and was able to do my job the next day. My carpet is pretty old and has a very heavy traffic pattern with bad spots so I wasn't expecting it to all come out, however, I wanted as clean as he could get it. Darron immediately told me he thought he could get a lot out. When he was done it LOOKED LIKE NEW CARPET!! He was so knowledgeable and informative and I was shocked at how beautiful my carpet and all the dinning room chairs looked when he was finished. As they dried they looked even better. I am planning to use him again for the upstairs and grout cleaning. I have already given my neighbor his name and number. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DARRON!!!

Gilberto is a true profesional. He worked around our schedule from the start and was very attentive to our needs and wants. He took his time while still getting the job done in a timely manner. He did a superb job with the installation of our tile and even made recommendations to seal the grout before hand opposed of sealing after the fact and this is what I would expect a true profesisional to do (give you advise). As a home owner we where looking for a competitive price and obviously looking to get the most experienced tile guy out there. We couldn't have made a better choice in using Gilberto. Both him and his brother Rolando have many years of experience and were very polite and respectful. I will be using him again to do my backsplash in a couple of weeks. Being in the design field I am a very matriculate individual and I am glad to say that Gilberto and his brother met my expectations. Saitisgied client!!

Very polite technicians- worked fast, offered variety of services, and did not make a mess. Was hoping to get my grout cleaned from a dingy white to a bright white, but previous home owner must have painted grout so the floors did not look much different. Not the company's fault.

Welton was punctual, displayed great professionalism, wonderful to deal with, very amicable and honest. He did tile replacement, grouting, and caulking on my masters bathroom. It only took him a few hours, his price was fair, and the work came out looking like new and clean. I am very happy with the quality of his work and strongly recommend him.

Rey re-grouted my entire flagstone courtyard and cut out a piece of the patio that I wanted removed. He did a good job and the rain was definitely a problem beyond his control. There was some concrete debris left at the job from the demo and the grouting which is why I did not rate him as excellent.

About

We clean the dirt and grime out of your grout lines and clean entire floor in the process. We also offer to re-seal the grout line to help keep your floors looking great. We use the power of steam and mild cleaners if necessary to blast the grout lines that usually aren't sealed after installation. We do not use any upsell tactics like the big companies. We quote the price, and that's it!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.
