- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied jazz/contemporary guitar with Frank Rodriguez, classical guitar with Tom Johnson at the University of North Texas, and voice with Paul Busselberg. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. I am also a certified classroom music teacher. I have received formal training in teaching the classical guitar from Austin Classical Guitar, the most active guitar organization in classical guitar education. My work as a teacher has included teaching guitar in private and group settings, as well as judging competitions and teaching masterclasses. I have performed in masterclasses for world-renown guitarists such as Pavel Steidl, Zoran Dukic, Valerie Hartzell, and Matt Palmer. As an educator, I have also traveled abroad to Hungary to study the Kodály method which is a widely used music teaching method in Texas schools.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with many students of various interests. I have worked with those who want to play guitar as a hobby, in bands, or professionally. My teaching has brought many students to perform successfully in recitals, local venues, write their own music and even earn scholarships in music
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Every summer I teach at the Summer Guitar Conservatory in Houston. At the Conservatory, I teach guitar classes, private lessons, direct guitar ensembles (imagine an orchestra with guitars!), and teach the adult classes. I am also a teacher trainer who specializes in teaching the guitar to children in the classroom setting.
