Introduction: Hi! My name is Laurie Philbin and I have been a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and nutrition specialist for over 9 years and would love to help you reach your goals! We are in difficult times with COVID and I want to offer a safe space for clients who want to get back on track with training with motivation and accountability! PHOTOS OF GYM ON WEBSITE/PROFILE! -- I am training clients out of our home garage gym in Lower Greenville. (made into a gym studio - photos below) it is cleaned daily and in between each client. All equipment sanitized daily after every client usage and we use special filters for bacteria in the air. Hand sanitizer is always available as well and I ask all clients to bring their own towel and water bottle. We do have a water jug dispenser in the gym as well. Social distancing is practiced as well for client comfort. Clorox wipes, Lysol spray and gym floor antibacterial cleaner is used after each client. -- I do require an initial phone consultation to get to know you, your goals and make sure we are a great match along with give you more information and answer all questions. PRICE: Right now I am offering sessions for $65 per session - normally $75/session. Sessions are pay per session right now through Venmo, Zelle or cash is accepted. PLEASE NOTE: Session prices include a 45 min with 5 minutes of stretching at the end so 50 minute session with nutritional guidance and all workouts are written on the white board and can be taken a photo of to have for your own workouts at home to repeat! (Due to COVID GUIDELINES, I must take at least 10 minutes in between every client to scrub down gym, rewash hands and time to set back up hence the 50 minute sessions so please be aware and on time to all sessions so we can get the full use of time!) CANCELLATION POLICY: All sessions are subject to a 12 hour cancellation policy unless of an emergency. If session is cancelled within 12 hours of scheduled session you will be charged a cancellation fee. While I am flexible, I do this not only for scheduling sake but also to hold you accountable to committing to your sessions and goals!

Personal Training

When I was searching for a trainer, I had a couple of specific things in mind: building a knowledge base for a healthy lifestyle and value. Laurie has exceeded my requirements and helped me expand areas I wasn’t aware needed improvement! I’m so thankful. A few key points below: Flexibility: I am somewhat new to the DFW area as I’ve recently returned to school for my doctorate. Laurie was flexible about setting and re-visiting scheduled sessions to accommodate my changing responsibilities. Amidst Covid-19, we were able to work-out in areas that adhered to safety guidelines (e.g., parks, rooftop garages, anywhere we could get some air flowing and keep physical distance). She is always ready to go as planned, and meets my 2-3 minutes “late” with a smile and understanding. Value/Expertise: I had a strict budget in mind that Laurie worked with and helped set realistic expectations for. Our total length together was scheduled for 3 months, but I’ve now adjusted my spending/expenses to keep training with Laurie for a couple of times a month, virtually rather than in-person. I am also delighted with Laurie’s thoughtfulness in crafting my work-outs. Work-outs that used to be very challenging are now more doable and that’s despite the fact that she increases the difficulty/complexity of them. Her expertise shows in how attuned she is to my steady progress and her creativity in designing something that pushes yet works for me. Of note, I was having some pretty bad lower back pain, and Laurie has also navigated this really well. My back pain has lessened as I’ve gained strength, which is exciting! Knowledge Base: As mentioned, 3 months was all I could afford and that was ample time, per my own learning pace and Laurie’s assurance, to help me gain fitness skills that will promote a healthier lifestyle. Everything Laurie teaches me is practical. I’ve found myself taking elements from different work-outs (she writes all of my work-outs down in my journal), and designing at-home, no/minimal equipment work-outs. “Give a woman a fish, and you feed her for a day; teach a woman to fish, and you feed her for a lifetime,” am I right?! Tangible Results: Increased strength and toning in arms, legs, and core. It’s nice when you notice yourself easily carrying things around your home without losing your breath (functional fitness for the win)! This is specific to me: I’ve had lower back pain that I consulted with my physician about. I needed to increase mobility, flexibility, and strength, which is hard when you’re in the classroom or at a desk for hours on end. Since starting this endeavor with Laurie, my back pain has lessened, which was one of my biggest priorities. I am also in a better mood overall. The world is a tough place right now. I’m so thankful I can escape it for a while when I’m working out with Laurie or when I’m applying the skills she’s taught me to work out on my own. Bonus: Laurie has a warm, nonjudgmental (so hard to find!), collaborative, and kind spirit. I’m personally motivated more by someone who lives by how she preaches, does so without being in-your-face about it, and is patient with me when I have an “off” week(s). She’s also embedded nutritional guidance, which has been very helpful. Lastly, I alluded to unexpected growth in other aspects of my life. I think that the fact that I’ve been able to change some unnecessary spending habits to accommodate for continued training with Laurie is also a result of our mutual investment in me. I’m feeling better all-around :)

Personal Training

I am so thrilled I found Laurie, she’s such a genuine person and as a trainer she was able to gently motivate me in the early morning sessions while still challenging me to push myself and work harder! I absolutely loved that each session was different and there were a lot of exercises I have never done before. It was also great to be able to so openly and easily communicate when something caused pain to adapt and adjust for it in the next session. After a year of not working out so thankful to have met Laurie and for her guiding me back into working out!!

I’ve really enjoyed having Laurie as my trainer. She keeps me focused and on task, and I always feel like we accomplish a lot in 45 min. Laurie also takes COVID precautions quite seriously so I feel safe and confident in working out with her. Laurie is a great choice if you’re looking for a trainer who is knowledgeable, fast paced, and dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness goals.

Personal Training

Working out with Laurie means that you’ll never get bored and I get bored easily. She always has something new up her sleeve so workouts are dynamic and a lot of fun. Make no mistake, you will work hard but that’s how you get results. I’ve been training with Laurie for about 5 months now and I am stronger, more disciplined and getting in a much better shape. Another thing to note is safety (thanks Covid!). She disinfects her gym and keeps everything clean. I’m very happy with my progress and highly recommend her to you too!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Due to Covid, I am not offering packages right now as a precaution during the pandemic so that sessions are not left in the unknown. I am however offering the same discounted prices I use for packages in a pay-per session way through Venmo or Zelle. This means I will request the session about after each session through Venmo or Zelle instead of as a whole package of a set of sessions. This also is more budget friendly for clients as well! There is a 12 hour cancellation policy - if session is cancelled within 12 hours of scheduled session, you will be charged for the training session unless due to emergency.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with a new customer, we begin with a phone consultation where I get to know you and your fitness goals along with getting to ask me any questions/concerns. We then meet in person for a first session which is free to go through showing you the fitness area, do measurements, payments, and paperwork along with setting up a schedule. After that we begin our sessions which are each an hour long.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have over 10 years experience in fitness and am a former college athlete. This includes multiple certifications including being a NASM certified personal trainer, group fitness certification, nutrition specialist certification among balance/flexibility, corrective exercise, weight loss specialist, and working in many studio and gym environments. I have worked with a wide range of clients from all ages including teens all the way up to clients in their 80s! I have also worked with a wide range of injuries, pregnant clients, and all ranges of abilities and fitness levels.
