Introduction: Hello & congratulations on taking your first step in finding a piano teacher! My studio is located on the border of Cypress and Katy. I travel to a majority of my students so distance will not be a problem. My goal is to instill in each of my students a clear understanding of core principles that will allow them to successfully achieve their musical goals. As a piano teacher, the key to success in music education is to develop a sincere interest in my students. I focus on my students’ musical tastes and show them how to reach their goals. Simply telling my students to practice isn’t enough. We focus on how to practice and why certain practice techniques work while others don’t. I provide my students with music books, work sheets, sheet music, videos, and applications. Most importantly, I custom-create sheet music for my students to match their playing level. Pianists are just like normal people - our minds wander which can hinder our playing. I have been his student for around 2 years and I find his lessons to be extremely fun and helpful as he gives you the freedom to pick any song you want to learn. And when the song is proved to be too difficult he simplifies the music and teaches you how to practice that song. He points out your mistakes in order for you to play the piece perfectly and he teaches you music theory to understand the song structure along the way. Overall I have found that his guidance had helped me improve myself as a pianist at my own pace and am very thankful for his lessons these past years and I am expecting great improvements in my piano skills for years to come.

He is an excellent teacher. He taught two of my kids for for 5 years and they learned well. He helped my kids a lot! He really knows how to play piano and teach it. He is very nice and kind. 10/10 would recommend.

I have been taught by him for many years and it has been the best of my experiences because he is fun to talk to, and is very patience to his students, he also keeps his responsibilities in check when he makes his lessons. Overall he is a respectable and a great person to work with.

Working with Brill for over a year now, I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be where I am with my keyboard skills without him. It seemed childish and rough at at first going through simple songs and chords but he was very patient with me. As we went along with lesson after lesson I trusted his process even though some times it was very repetitive and tiring. Even at times things seemed to come to a plateau but Brill always encouraged me to push forward. Today I am glad i went to those lessons, listened to him, put in extra time and always trusted that he knew what was best for me to progress. Highly recommend with his fair prices and flexible schedule, Brill will do everything in his power to bring out the musician in anyone. -Luke

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $25 per lesson if I have to drive to the student. I charge $20 per lesson if the student drives to me.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually, when meeting a new student, I like to get to know them a bit. Firstly, I want to find out what their musical goals are so that I can tailor my lessons to better fit their expectations. I also like to learn about their taste in music and what songs they are looking forward to learning down the line.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken formal piano lessons and classes since the age of 5 and have been teaching since 14. I practice piano 2-3 hours every day and read one piano education book a month. I am constantly writing new sheet music for my students as well as holding myself accountable to learning 1 new song a week. I also like to research piano theory and teaching methods to better educate my students on problems that they may have.
