Introduction: MTNA member FORUM member Houston Music Teacher Association member Having been a performing professional as well as piano teacher with 25 years of experience, I have developed efficiency and results in guiding students, beginning to advanced level, children and adults. My students find my classes rewarding and challenging, engaging and fun. My goal is to create a nurturing environment to sustain musical interest, that's catered to individual student, to showcase the strengths and to find strategies for the weaknesses. In the years I have worked as a performer, and pianist, I have enjoyed the process of rehearsing in attaining brilliance. I love detailed works, and have many strategies in dealing with difficulties, as different person may encounter different challenges. The reward is the mastery my students achieve. It makes me happy.

I've taken piano lessons with Phebe from second grade to my junior year in high school. In that time, Phebe introduced me to the state exams in California (Certificate of Merit) and I progressed from level 3 to Advanced Panel within 8 years. Throughout my time with Phebe, she has taught me so much about all aspects of playing the piano. Whether she was teaching me new techniques, helping me cultivate my own musical judgment, or imparting her little tips and tricks from her numerous years of playing, Phebe was always patient and truly wanted to see me succeed. Unlike many other piano teachers, Phebe puts on as many student recitals as possible to allow students to refine their performance skills as well as listen to others' playing. I always looked forward to hearing what the other students had been working on and it was always amazing to see how much each student had grown since the last performance. Phebe's attention to detail and the effort she puts into each student is unparalleled. I would highly recommend Phebe to anyone who is looking to start or continue playing the piano.

We switched between a few piano teachers for our daughter before we finally met Phebe Wusan. Since then, our daughter took piano lessons from Phebe for 6+ years until Phebe moved out of California. Phebe is a professional musician and performer and has a lot of stage experience. This makes her unique from other teachers. She didnât just focus on accuracy but also on artistic sound quality and dynamics. While teaching each piece of music, she would patiently talk about the musicâs history and authorsâ stories, which made our daughter more interested in learning piano and helped her gain knowledge. During summer months ( June - August ) per lesson: 30 min - $35 45 min - $50 60 min - $65 During school year ( September - May ) monthly rate as follows: 30 mins / week ($132/mth) 45 mins / week ($192/mth) 60 mins / week ($258/mth) Ask for free trial lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In general, I typically make observations and notes, what the student knows, how he or she learns, so the adjustment period between us can be shortened, and learning can be efficient and optimized.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After attaining Cum Laude in Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance, I delved into many collaboration works and later became known as a Ballet Pianist. All these, while maintaining my own Piano Studio for 14 years in San Francisco Bay Area. Moved to Houston to take up a position in the prestigious Houston Ballet as a Company Pianist.
