Introduction: I became a teacher because it has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I guess you could say it is in my blood because my grandmother, great-grandmother, and great aunt were all teachers. I feel that as a teacher I am given the opportunity to help change lives and inspire students to always aim to give their best in all they do. When I teach it is my goal to have my students fall in love with the content I am teaching because it is my hope they see the passion and love I have for the content. I am a Houston-area-based teacher; my teaching career began in Atlanta, teaching 10th and 11th grade English. Shortly after which I moved to the Houston-area and began teaching 11th grade English. Since living in the Houston-area, I have taught in both the high school and middle school environment; I have taught, in all, 11th grade English, 7th grade on-level and Pre-AP English (along with STAAR tutoring and test prep), 9th grade Sheltered (which includes both English Language Learners (ELLs) and on-level students combined into one class), and 10th grade Opportunity (a class built and structured for students that failed the 9th grade and are now given the opportunity to take a class that gives them credit for both 9th and 10th grade). I have served as a TELPAS rater and tutor for ELLs and as an EOC/STAAR tutor for both students that failed the previous year and had to retake the test, and students that were taking the test for the very first time. Although my primary content has been English, I have a Generalist certification for grades 4-8 (meaning I can teach any subject), an English Language Arts and Reading certification for grades 4-12, and ESL Generalist certification for grades 4-12.
