I obtained my M.Ed. in Education/Mid-Management from Southern Methodist University and my BS in Interdisciplinary Studies/Education from the University of North Texas.
I have been an educator for over 18 years now, and I truly understand the value of an education and the meaning of lifelong learners.

The SAT is just one factor in the admissions' decision. Schools also consider your high school GPA, academic transcript, letters of recommendation, interviews and personal essays. The weight placed on SAT scores varies from school to school. Most colleges and universities will accept the ACT in lieu of the SAT.

What specifically is the SAT?
There are 3 SAT sections: math, critical reading, and writing. The writing section includes an essay, which, unlike the ACT, is not optional. From start to finish, the test will take you 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Should I take the SAT or the ACT?
Is one harder? Is one better, more prestigious, or more useful? If only it were that simple. More information about the SAT vs. the ACT will depend on your school of choice.
How is the SAT scored?
Each section is scored on a 200 to 800-point scale, making the perfect score 2400.
How do I know if my score is good enough to get me into my dream school?
Good question. Check out the admissions department at the university you wish to attend by either searching their website or by setting up an appointment.
How do I register?
SAT registration deadlines fall approximately 5 weeks before each test date. Ask your guidance counselors for test dates, and applications are available in every high schools.
How can I prepare?
Practice all three sections, and take each practice test seriously. Get a one-on-one tutoring or help to secure a better or higher score.
The GED is a high school equivalency examination.
You need a total of 2250 points and a basic score of 400 on each test in order to pass. The scores are derived from a special scoring system that isn't based on percentage or rank. If you fail any of the individual tests, you'll have to take that test over again. If necessary, you can take each test up to three times in the span of one year.
The following comprise GED's five-part structure:
* The GED Writing Skills Test - This measures your ability to use standard English in writing in two ways. Multiple-choice questions test your knowledge in sentence structure, usage, punctuation, capitalization and your ability to organize sentences. The second part is a 250 to 300-word essay in which the student is asked to demonstrate an ability to organize thoughts and express them clearly. Two hours are allotted for this section of the GED.
* The GED Social Studies Test - This is 80 minutes in length and tests knowledge of US geography, history, political science, behavioral science and economics. The student reads articles and essays on social science topics and answers questions about maps, charts and related graphs. Students are expected to understand broad concepts and trends in US history and politics.
* The GED Science Test - This covers life and physical sciences and includes formats such as short essays, diagrams and charts. Students are expected to understand the context of the readings and answer questions based on a solid knowledge of science. 80 minutes are allotted for this section.
* The GED Literature and Arts Test - This includes excerpts from short stories, poetry and novels. Students are asked to understand and describe the themes, meaning, tone and mood of the pieces, expressing themselves in clear and concise English. This section is comprised of 40 questions and takes approximately 65 minutes.
* The GED Mathematics Test - This covers knowledge of arithmetic, algebra and geometry. Questions are posed as sentence problems that cover a variety of mathematical concepts. A calculator (provided by the test administrator) can be used for the first half of the math test, but not during the second half. There are 50 questions in total, and a 90-minute period is given to complete them.
