FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing system is fairly simple, based upon the time we figure it will take to execute an event, and the related costs of doing the event. We generally quote a base price and provide an option for one or two discounts due to "early booking" and "giving positive testimonials".
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Unfortunately, most of the "continuing education" I have experienced has revolved around salesman tactics for booking more events, and new and fancy equipment. Our continuing education is our events. Our personalities will always be good for DJing events, and the type of people we prefer to work with don't need nor care about all of the fancy fluff that a lot of extremely high-priced DJs like to add on to their services. (We don't need, for example, photo booths or game shows. For the events that we do, that'd be outrageously uncalled for!) We keep on top of modern music, and make sure that we know what's clean and what's not. Our clients and their guests are our continuing education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have loved dance music since my high school years and I started spinning records in my parents' basement for fun... I bought some lighting and turned the basement into a little "club" so that anyone who came downstairs could dance. I used to use that to the advantage of people in my family when we'd host get-togethers and the kids would come along... they'd stay downstairs and out of the way of the adults, because I was playing music to keep them dancing. As a party DJ, I started working band concerts for music students of mine, and eventually realized I could make money doing what I do. I already had experience as a performing live musician, and I have a college degree in physics. This all adds up to me understanding music and sound much better than the average person, so it is a natural effect of that that I can be a DJ. Kristen got into DJing because she met and ultimately married me. To this day, she has run certain events by herself when I cannot be there at the same time.
