We had a back door and security door installed. We needed some frame work done, as well. The hardware we bought for this project was not compatible for the outdoors. Blast went and found the appropriate items we needed and come back out to finish the job with no extra charge! We are looking forward to our next project with Blast!

Hired them after seeing my next door neighbors job. They did a great job, much better than I expected. Very detailed and did not rush. At the end we did a walk through and they addressed the few items of concern. Great Job!!

The work he did for us was very extensive. It included removing the carpet on the whole top floor of our house, including the stairs. Then it was replaced with laminate, added new side boards, and brand new wooden stairs. The whole master bathroom was redone, took out the bathtub and flooring and redone with a full tile shower. We also needed an opening between two bedrooms to combine into a bigger master suite, which included having to open up a wall and install a new opening/door. Everything was done very neatly and beautiful. His work is excellent and very well done!

Adan responded to my custom request for help removing the glass panel in my oven so it could be cleaned. I'd seen some videos on YouTube and it looked like a fairly complicated process. Not to mention what a pain it would be if the glass broke. Adan and I traded messages about the project. I was satisfied that he had the skills and knowledge to help. He was able to come by the same day. The project wasn't as difficult as I feared but I'm really glad that I hired Adan to do it. The oven door is cleaned and reinstalled. Looks great! Thank you!

I hired Galveston Construction to remove both my neighbors' 6' privacy fences and my own 4' corral fence and replace them with one 6' pine privacy fence. They pulled out all of the old posts planted in concrete. They filled in all of the holes and erected a new fence using the latest construction tricks that I would have never thought of. They implimented a 2x6 Rot Board at the base with a 2x4 back creating a ledge to nail the slats into. The gates were framed in steel which he welded together, and included supports for additional strength. In addition to using only top grade lumber, the gate hardware is heavy duty and locks easily when closed. He custom fashioned the fence with great carpentry work around a few trees that were growing right on my property line. He was very careful to make sure that the neighbors were happy with the new construction. He even went as far as repairing the gate on the next door neighbor's fence that had been hanging in disrepair for years. What I got from Stan was a beautiful fence that will remain standing for years and years. Will I hire him again? I certainly will. His bid was his word. And written on a signed contract. No add-ons, no additional charges, no hassles, no bull shit. I never had a question as to what he was going to do at any time. A real pro.

John and his crew were awesome! They showed up when promised. They did a beautiful job and we couldn't be happier! I definitely recommend John & Atlas Construction.

These guys came thru in the clutch! They were very accommodating, as well as helpful with providing solutions to our security concerns beyond just installing the door that we called them to install initially. Even though they came to give an estimate when they realized the importance & urgency of the matter not only were they willing but they were prepared to give top notch service on the spot.

Eugene’s experience and professionalism show in the quality of his work. Eugene did a beautiful job of removing my old exterior back door and installing a new frame and door. He arrived at my house at the time we scheduled and had all the tools the tools to complete the job. There was a flaw in the way the manufacturer built the doorframe, but Eugene had no trouble resolving the problem and leaving me with a new working door.

Simon came to my rental house and fixed the broken lock immediately. Before our conversation, I thought I have to replace all the lock but he found the convenient solution for me as a landlord and it costed me less than I thought. He is very professional and knows what he is doing. I highly recommend him to everyone and will hire him again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How does a locksmith open a locked door?

Locksmiths use specialized tools and techniques to open your door in the case of lockouts or lost keys. Trained locksmiths can pick your door lock with lock-picking tools such as a rake, a tension wrench, a half diamond or a hook. They may use a technique called bumping, which will work on pin tumbler locks, or as a last resort they may use a drill to remove your existing lock. The national average locksmith price ranges between $70 and $100. A locksmith can also replace your current lock system, re-key your locks if you have lost your keys, repair a broken lock, install a deadlock and more. Locksmiths not only help with front doors, they can help if you are locked out of your car, locked out of your mailbox, locked out of your shed … you name it. There may be an additional charge for emergency after-hours locksmith services. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a car locksmith?

There are several reasons you may need a car locksmith. You may be locked out of your car (either with the keys inside or with no keys at all), you may have lost your car keys and need a new key, or you may want to make a duplicate car key. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Getting locked out of your car can be scary and overwhelming — especially if it’s cold and dark out. Fortunately, professional locksmiths provide round-the-clock assistance to help people in these circumstances.

Car lockouts are one of the main reasons people need a locksmith. Your locksmith’s price can depend on the type of car you have, the time of day (or night) it is, and where you are located. Locksmith pricing may be based on a flat rate, or pricing may be quoted to you after the locksmith determines the circumstances. For example, a flat rate for a car lockout could be $65 for standard vehicles. That price could be higher for after-hours or long-distance service, or service during extreme weather. If you have entirely lost your car keys, a locksmith can make you a new car key, but first they must verify that you are the owner of the car. Locksmiths can even program new car key fobs for you — often at a lower price than a dealership.

How much does it cost to make a new key for a car?

Locksmiths’ prices for making new car keys can vary depending on the make of your car as well as the time of day and location. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100, but duplicating a key may cost as little as $30, while extraction a key stuck in the ignition, cutting a new key and programming the fob can cost much more.

You might need a new car key if you have lost your key, the key broke in the ignition, the key is bent or damaged, or you just want a duplicate in case of emergency. You can request a duplicate of a key you have on hand, or you can have a new key made or cut if you have lost your original car keys. If you need to replace lost keys, you’ll need to first provide proof that you are the owner of the car along with the vehicle identification number (VIN). If you’re just locked out of your car but don’t need a key made, a locksmith may charge $65 to get you back in. Locksmith car key services are often far more affordable than dealership prices for new keys.

How much does it cost to have a deadbolt lock installed?

Installing a new deadbolt lock can improve your home security, especially if you think your current lock system has been compromised or there are unaccounted-for copies of your house keys in circulation. A professional locksmith can install a new deadbolt for you in a matter of hours. The national average locksmith price ranges from $70 to $100. Locksmith prices for installing deadbolts may be higher based on whether the professional provides the lock or you have it on hand, how many components the locking system includes, and how long the installation takes. The cost to purchase a lock yourself from a big-box store can range from approximately $70 to $225 or more, depending on quality and materials. Higher-security locks often take longer and therefore cost more to install.
