Blast did a great job installing our crown molding and installing custom made window cornices. He and his team are very hard workers and even missed watching the Superbowl as they were trying to finish our job before the start of the work week.

SILVER WATER DID A GREAT JOB! Silver Water did a deep clean on a house I have on the market. I had another company clean the house and was never satisfied with their work. Silver Water listened to the particulars I needed included in the house cleaning, and did a thorough job with great attention to detail. I am extremely happy with the work they have done. I will use them again.

I was extremely pleased with the work that they did. They completed the project in one day and left my home clean. They made sure to protect my floors because of the traffic in and out of the house. Isaac was in constant contact with me to make sure everything was going to my satisfaction. I would gladly recommend them and would use them again. Thank you Isaac.

I met with a number of different window companies and they all seemed to have the same used cars salesman approach which I could not stand. Then I discovered Bryan Swinford at Swinford Exterior. Bryan handled the entire process. From the initial meeting to go over the window options, to measuring windows and actually did all of the installs (with his crew)! Him and his crew were quick, clean and curtious. Best pricing by far! Always responsive and delivered when he said he would deliver. I've dealt with a lot of contractors and this was one of the smoothest processes I have ever had. I highly recommend Bryan!

Sheet rock work in our garage was amazing as was his concrete work between our barn and house. His tile work around our fireplace and the back splash in our kitchen was excellent as well. We also used him for framing and finishing a living area above our garage. This include installing laminate flooring, insulation and window units. He also completed a porch project outside our utility room. Our last project was to replace all the windows and doors in a mother-in-law cottage. His quoted price was accurate as was his estimate on completing each project. We used him multiple times during the course of a year and we wwre always pleased with the results

David a man of his word. I had a crack in my bedroom window where he did an excellent job replacing the window. Please note people that David is very hard working individual where he will setup an appointment to measure the window to give you accurate quote. Once he give you quote he will require some deposit to order the window...I was little hesitated on this but I TRUSTED David. Once I gave him deposit David immediately order my window and came next day to install it. Did a super job with excellent work quality. It was great doing business with you David. Keep up the good work.

Raul came exactly when he said he would, worked steadily and with amazing skill--he installed the door and the hardware perfectly in a surprisingly short time. I am so happy with my new door! It looks great and works better than when the house was new. He was very professional, courteous and thoughtful and made some suggestions that I had not even thought of, like telling me about the new blinds that are enclosed to enhance the door windows. As for value, I feel guilty that he didn't charge more, but I'll hire him again for the interior doors I still have to change out.

I have over 20 years of experience overseeing countless major painting projects and D&S is by far the very best in customer service, pricing, and professionalism to name a few. When we scheduled our day, he also offered other days, which I appreciated the ability to have some options if my schedule had permitted. They were very thorough and did a really fantastic job. We plan to use them again and recommend them for any job large or small. To D & S, We Thank you for making this military move of ours a little easier of a transition for the kids by personalizing their rooms. It's the small things that can change their outlook moving across the country. THANK YOU!!

Xclusive Residential Construction is amazing! I posted my request for a concrete job on thumbtack and within 10 minutes i had an email from the owner Jeffery. Within a day he came out to speak with my husband and I and provided us with a quote. Out of 7 different companies he was the only person to mention placing rebar into our existing patio slab so that the concrete would last longer and not separate. Once we were ready to have this project completed Jeffery and his crew were at our house ready to go in two days! The entire crew was very professional and timely. Within Two days they had dug out all of the dirt, placed rebar down and poured concrete! We are beyond excited to be able to use our new patio space this summer and wouldn't have been able to do it without Exclusive Residential Construction and Remodeling. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is needing concrete or any other type of home renovation.

Josh made half of my garage into a small living area. He did a good job. He changed it from a garage into a room. It has light, a window, flooring, insulated walls, cable access, door. It is perfect for somebody to live in or a game room for children and/or adults. He laid the flooring and sheet rocked and painted the walls. I am pleased with his work and will continue to use him for upgrades and such of that nature. He is fairly priced and dependable. He will get the job done.

Ecoview Windows did my windows in a timely and professional manner.I appreciated their advise on which windows in my price range would look best on my home. Also, the installers were professional and very tidy. I highly recommend them. I also refered them to a friend. They did her windows and siding. She was very pleased.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
