FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Regarding quilt projects: I do have a base price per shirt / block for t-shirt and similar type quilts. # shirts / finished size are the main variables. Regarding any sewing / alterations - I have a minimum $20 charge. If you only have one repair / alteration, depending on your timeline, you may want to consolidate projects. * the $20 minimum is not PER ITEM, rather per project group: i.e., 2 pr pants and a zipper replacement - the $20 minimum would apply to that batch of items.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For many projects, it helps to have pictures from you to begin a quote, whether it is a garment repair / alteration, or a quilt design / idea that you have. In the case of quilt projects, I will often set a zoom or facetime call to cover more details before we meet up (this saves us both time and travel!). For quilt / custom sewing projects, I will often meet customers at local fabric store to get needed supplies and at least start the design. I will provide estimate for cost and time to complete; and may need to update you thru the course of the project. When project requires materials / supplies, you may be required to pay for these up front.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been sewing since I was 6; learned thru 4-H, local courses and thru many willing friends and relatives that have encouraged my love for sewing and design.
