Gene, thank you so much for a great first lesson! I can't wait for the next one, and to practice my new techniques on my own. Gene was able, in the first few minutes, address a problem that I have been having since I first started singing in choirs. It has always been very difficult for me to sing low. He was able to tell me why I was having the problem and some of the common misconceptions about it. One of the major paradigms I will have to shift in my own mind is that head voice isn't everything. I feel like even though I will be working outside of my comfort zone, (I love to sing the high stuff) being able to establish my lower range will provide a good foundation for those high notes that I love so much. I'm so excited about being able to work on new music that I always thought was outside of my capabilities!!!
Mr. Witebsky is an excellent piano teacher that I would recommend to others. I personally am a music teacher and I know what to look for in private teachers. You can't beat his rates. He works well with young people
Jake is definitely the most skilled guitar teacher I've had and overall a great guy. He can do any genre of music you throw at him any style. He creates a lesson plan based around your goals and does everything step by step without overwhelming you with loads of information. I would highly recommend his services.
I have been taking lessons with Rob for about 2 years now. He is the most patient person I know. He has a way of explaining music and music theory in a way that makes sense. He is a very talented musician and always keeps lessons fun as well as educational. I recommend him to anyone who is looking to take lessons.
Great singer, great teacher. Kylah possesses considerable knowledge of vocal technique and musicianship. She maintains this without losing touch with the primary propose of music; to enjoy the music itself. One can not ask for more when searching for a vocal teacher.
Tim is an excellent vocal teacher of singing and voice. He is helping me with my pitch optimization, tonal quality, and projection. I always thought I'd be very nervous taking a singing lesson, but his manner made it easy for me. I've had only three lessons and already see an improvement in my speaking and singing. The lessons are enjoyable, and he is very patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Ms. Kay has been an outstanding piano teacher for my son. She is careful and precise in her teaching methods, and she has a wonderful cheerful demeanor. We are very happy we found Ms. Kay to enrich our son’s development in music with her incredible expertise in piano instruction.
Amir had been the guitar and drums teacher of my children. He had taught two of my children for over 5 years each, and has taken one of them through his music matriculation examination. Amir is not only a versatile and talented musician. He is also a wonderful teacher - kind, attentive, with a wonderful personal touch and ability to find exactly what is right for each student. Amir is highly involved in his students' music studies, even when they have musical endeavors outside of Amir's lessons. Thus he would attend their concerts and shows even if those events had not occurred under his personal guidance. My older son is today a musician himself, and Amir has a huge part in teaching him, encouraging him, mentoring him and supporting him on this journey. I recommend Amir not only as a musician and a teacher, but as a wonderful person. Anyone would be lucky to spend time with him.
We have just finished our 6th lesson with John. My 5 year old daughter is taking piano lessons and I am taking guitar lessons. John is always on time, is always prepared, and is always eager to teach. My 5 year old can barely contain her excitement when he comes over. I am amazed at how much she has learned at such a young age. John encourages family participation during her lessons which is something that I fully agree with. Music in our house is a family affair. He has an obvious compassion for teaching young children and it is very obvious with the method he uses to teach them. He makes music fun. I am a middle school teacher, and would highly recommend him as a music teacher with your children too. As an adult student in guitar, John is always listening to my wants and needs. He is teaching me with a style that will benefit my ultimate guitar playing goal, and addresses my learning style carefully. I would highly recommend him as a guitar teacher too.
Lisa is a great teacher and my son really enjoys seeing her every week. She’s very professional and works well with younger kids. Would definitely recommend her services.
Its fun to lurn the guitar becuse I like to lurn new stuff and my guitar teacher is very nice, very good guitar teacher.
Daniel is by far one of the greatest music teachers I’ve met. When my guitar teacher left Daniel was the replacement and I wanted to quit the lessons, but then I decided to give him a chance and it turned out to be one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made in my life. If I could go back in time and take the lessons again from him I would do it because he is a very caring teacher. Always asking about your day, always patient with your progress in music. And at times where you see a music piece that looks difficult, or just something that you can’t do. Daniel will be there to encourage you, cause he has faith in the students that he teaches and their ability to play it. This is a pretty long review, but these are one of many great traits that you would want in a teacher.
Awesome from the start. I decided in my 50s that it was time to finally learn guitar. I took some lessons from another instructor, but we just didn’t jive. Tried Zach and my search is over. I learned more in the first lesson than a half dozen from the other guy. Zach’s best qualities are that he is patient and he listens to you. Great combination for a beginner. He already has me playing several chords and simple songs after two lessons. His approach to practice keeps me motivated. My frustration level decreased dramatically and I’m finally excited about learning again. Save yourself some time and give Zach a call!
Jay is one of the very best voice teachers you'll work with. His ear for finding vocal "problem areas" and building strength and musicality in the voice is something he's obviously honed over many years. Every time we worked together, he'd have me singing before the door even closed. He's very respectful of your time, and you'll definitely get your money's worth.
I would like to send this letter in support of Tom Lopez and his music lessons through the Universal City Music Studio. My son Jacob Bissell has been a student of Tom's since his days in the band at Kitty Hawk Middle School. At that time, Thomas was teaching Jacob drum techniques to supplement the lessons at Kitty Hawk Middle School. Jacob ended up his Middle School tenure as an honored/awarded musician with a great foundation in music. Jacob moved on to Judson High School, and auditioned for the marching band. He won a spot on the Judson Drum Line as a bass player. He held this position for two years, even though he could have moved to "snare position" his second year, but stayed on bass to help the Director. Around this time, Jacob was starting guitar lessons with Mr. Lopez. After two years with the Varsity Judson High School Band, Drum Line, Jacob decided to take a break from the marching band. At this time, it was found that Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) needed a percussionist. An audition was arrainged with YOSA, and Jacob was awarded a percussion seat with the Philharmonic Orchestra (YOSA's number one performing orchestra). He held this position with YOSA during his Junior and Senior years at Judson High School. His Senior year of high school, Jacob had to be in the music program to be eligible for YOSA, so he talked to the orchestra director at Judson HS. The Director needed a bass for the orchestra, so Jacob accepted the position. He started the semester in the Beginner Orchestra. With his excellent musicianship, he learned the instrument and was moved to the Honors Orchestra. He did receive honors for this position. All this time, Jacob had continued taking music lessons and having recitals with Thomas Lopez. Jacob had continuisly been a student of Tom's since middle school at Kitty Hawk. Now it was time to think of college. Jacob had thought that "Music Thearpy" was an area of study he wanted to pursue. Looking at the information from Texas colleges, only two in the state offered music therapy. One was in Houston, and the other was the University of the Incarnate Word, in San Antonio, Texas. After applying, and going through Music School auditions with the Director at Incarnate Word, he was awarded a Music School scholarship and an academic scholarship. With the substantial scholarship money, he accepted the spot on the Incarnate Word music school roster. I would like to congratulate Thomas Lopez for instilling in his student Jacob, the musicianship needed to advance to the level he has. He is active in the Incarnate Word Chorale, so he is learning about another instrument- his voice. Jacob is active in two bands- Disposable and 16 Psyche. As well as writing music, singing (fronting Disposable), he is currently teaching himself piano. I want to add links below to several of Jacob's performances. If the links get lost, you may find performances on YouTube by searching the names of the groups, and looking for "YOSA presents Carmina Burrana," where you'll see Jacob's senior slide on the screen behind the orchestra, at the beginning credits. While in YOSA, Jacob was with the first group to perform in the new Tobin Center, appearing twice about a month before Paul McCartney played the venue. Jacob has performed with nationally known artists while in the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, and went on tour to Canada with the organization. Thanks again Thomas, for bringing out the best in your music students.
Very happy with this guys, really nice place and very professional staff
Excellent teacher for my daughter
I am an Minneapolis based choreographer and artistic director of a dance company by the name of STRONGmovement. I had the opportunity to work with Animal Abstrakt on a 35min production that was performed in July of 2017. Collaborating with Animal Abstrakt was an amazing experience, he was able to make my vision come to reality with the sound scape he created tailored to the piece I created. This was my first time producing a show were the music was specifically tailored for the movement on stage. All three show sold out, we had about a total of 2000 audience members and had nothing but great feedback about the vibe and power of the show. Thank Animal Abstrakt.
Mike Baez is an excellent drum teacher. My 7 year old learned to read music and learned to play much better quickly. Mike is very good at connecting with any age student and is always prepared to teach the minute we arrived. I highly recommend him.
Howard is a professional musician who puts as much effort into his lessons as he does his performances. He has taught me jazz, country, folk, pop, & rock songs that I can play following his instructions and the tabs he writes for me. My interest is in learning the different techniques pro guitar players use, which Howard has taught me. He has the patience to teach novices to play a song from beginning to end, including riffs and solos once they become more advanced. I've also learned music theory from him, which has helped me become a better singer with the choirs I've joined, in addition to making me a better guitar player. He accommodates whatever I request and is always prepared in advance. I live in NW Austin, but the drive is well worth the effort for his lessons. It's a beautiful and relaxing drive to Lakeway, and I wouldn't go anywhere else for instructions even if they were just around the block.
Chantel has the perfect combination of enthusiasm, love of music, teaching ability, and innate ability to connect with kids that works great for my daughter, who has been taking voice lessons from her for several months now. My daughter is inspired to practice at home, and she looks forward to every lesson with great anticipation. I highly recommend Chantel to any parent looking for a great voice teacher for their kids. While we don't have direct experience with her husband Derek's instrument lessons, we know several parents whose kids take guitar, ukulele, etc from Derek and love him as well.
