Our Son was going to go to the justice of the peace to get married before his destination wedding next year. It turned into a family event and we asked Tom to officiant the wedding at the Embassey Suites hotel Sundance Square to include all the family. It was just perfect!! Tom was in contact with all our changes and the wedding ceremony was so much more than justice of the peace. It was personalized and he really spent time to make this our own special day for our son and new daughter-in-law!! Thank you-Tom!!

Oh my goodness where do I even begin? Tiffany has amazing talent. I looked so amazing for my wedding. Even through all the crying and sweating from dancing so much my face still looked gorgeous. I got so many compliments and my photos look amazing. I would recommend Tiffany 100 times over.

We hired Lyly to take photos at my husbands 70th birthday party. The photos are beautiful! Lyly and her husband expertly and discreetly covered the party and we now have an album full of memories. She also took some pre-party photos of our family that we will treasure forever. Thank you Lyly! We could not be happier.

Larissa provides quality materials, quality workmanship, is very detail-oriented and is always on time. She uses quality vendors and has good contacts. The roses in my bouquet were HUGE. The altar arrangements were so big! The groom's boutonniere and my bridal bouquet had the fine detail of having little rhinestones on the stems, and it made those items stand apart and look extra special. She even made sure to add a tiny closed bud to the groom's boutonniere and had it peeking over the large main rose by angling it just so. Larissa was one of the first vendors to show up for the ceremony. She provided an easy way to transport the flowers that she did not transport to the reception venue herself (because we still needed them for pictures). I don't think that you will find a better value for your money, given the quality materials and attention to detail that Larissa provides. I am very happy to recommend her to any bride-to-be!

The wedding guest, my husband and I had the best time with the DJ. They kept everyone on the dance floor the whole night, took request from guests and made everything super easy for us. Reasonably priced with the excellent service they provide.

Bryan Martin provided equipment for the karaoke at our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. I asked Bryan for additional songs and he provided everything that I asked for. He was very nice to work with. We actually chose to use him because he brought the equipment to the dinner location and picked it up the next day. Thanks, Bryan, for your outstanding service. The guests had a great time!

Can't say enough good things about Rachel!! We hired her last-minute when my husband and I decided to elope. We still wanted to have our dream wedding to include our family and friends, so we asked her to do that ceremony as well. Both ceremonies were absolutely beautiful and I couldn't have asked for a better officiant. She was so friendly and helpful, always professional, and very flexible. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Hector is a very patient, amazing man! Very friendly and dedicated. I really dont think I could have found anyone better to officiate my sons wedding. Even though we got off to a late start( and I was in a panic) he was quick to assure me that it happens all the time and he plans for it. I will definitely refer Hector to everyone I know, as well as use his services again for any future needs. Thank you Hector! You helped make this day extra special for our family! - Threasa

Erika was awesome....we had a wonderful experience with our wedding ceremony. Erika gave us serval options to choose from and even helped us pick a place.... Erika was and is very pleasant and easy to talk to....we communicated via phone, email and text.... On a scale from 1-10... she was at least a 12...our small wedding group was very impressed with the way the ceremony was performed and it’s content...would highly recommend Erika if you are getting married.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
