From the moment I asked for help with a wall mural, Freddy was wonderful. I think he responded with a quote within 1 minute! He was always on time, very professional and polite, and quite the artist. He took us through the whole process and didn't mind the numerous questions we had and design changes by my wife (wives...gees). In the end, we ended up with a beautiful beach mural on the side of our garage that is the focal point of our pool area in the backyard. If we ever decide to sell, I'm positive this mural will make our house stand out from the rest and add value. Thanks Freddy!!!

Deciding on your photographer can be a daunting task and also the most crucial decision (and investment) you make during your planning process. We had about a year to plan our wedding and we had the pleasure with working with Eugene for about six (6) months up to the big day. We used him for our 1) engagement photos (seen on our save the date), 2) my boudoir photos 3) our Laotian traditional ceremony and American ceremony and reception 4) and holiday photos (our wedding thank you card). The first thing you need to get out of your consultation is CHEMISTRY! When we met Eugene and his wife, Andrea, we were very comfortable with moving forward. It wasn’t until our engagement photo shoot that we noticed what sets them apart. We were extremely nervous and stiff, but Eugene and his wife gave us guidance, direction, and made it completely fun! As a newly engaged couple, it was refreshing to be in the company of another couple that was just being themselves (loving and patient with each other and with both of us). Eugene has a gift of capturing the chemistry of a couple on camera. Anyone can take photos and videos, but it takes talent and tenacity to evoke those emotions in a candid setting. He has an extensive range – whatever your vision is, he will make sure to deliver. We had a cross section of artistic, portrait, and candid photos. The best part for me (personally) was my traditional Laotian morning ceremony. Eugene and I worked on a journalistic style vision where he captured all the carefully curated details of the ceremony that tells a story about my culture. I’ve seen thousands of Pinterest photos, YouTube videos, but hands down, no one will have moments and the details captured like my Laotian ceremony. Eugene made that possible for me and my family. For me, it was not just photos to admire years from now, but it was about forging history for my family. Whatever your goals are for your wedding, I can assure you, Eugene and his team will make that happen for you! Aside from his grandiose artistic talent, Eugene collaborates so well with our other vendors/coordinators. We wish we could clone him for everything, but if you want a dream team for the wedding, start with this gem here!

Jason has gone above and beyond for the work we send. He takes time to ask the right questions to insure a phenomenal product. Professionalism and customer care are, clearly, a top priority. Jason has altered his schedule, tapped his resources, and bent his budget to get the job done. As a multi-talented artist, our company never ceases to send him a project that might seem out of his wheelhouse, and so far, nothing has been. Jason utilizes various payment mediums to limit the strain on the client and allows alterations to finished projects in emergency situations. His confidence in his artistry has placed him at the top of our vendor list for audio/media/design. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Thanks Jason!! -Incandescent Inc.

Dawn did a Banner for me (Last Minute) for a memorial fund raiser I did last year. I sent her art I wanted incorporated and some ideas on text to use. The finished product was so much more than I could have ever hoped for. There was a point when everyone gathered around the Banner instead of my friends picture because it was so perfectly in tune with him and the reason we were all there. Dawn is an AMAZING artist with an eye for even the smallest detail, the little things that take a picture and bring it to life with meaning and almost a soul. She has a heart of Gold, is honest to a tee and will go far and beyond to make you happy with her work. Her work was fast but it didn't show that. I know I am raving about a simple banner but to us it was so much more and she understood that! Dawn will be my forever goto with anything print or art related... She should be yours too!!!

Have used this artist/designer for about 30 years. His fledgeling work on my graduation invitations was excellent and his work has only grown finer over the years. I've used him for portrait work as well as for graphic design. His most recent work for me include an impressive album cover/booklet and a new logo.

Project is in the review process and it looks fabulous. Gerald was over-the-top helpful and flexible. He scanned over 100 still, photos, and combined them with photos from other sources. Music was provided to him and he used his expertise to coordinate the songs with the video. We are very impressed and pleased. You won't b disappointed if you choose him!

For nonprofit Dionysus Theatre, the only theater in Texas to cast actors with disabilities along with able-bodied actors, Dan Bonetati's task was formidable: To design a logo that would attract attention and combine the themes of theater and actors with disabilities. He came up with several stylish, inspiring, attention-grabbing logos from which the theater director chose one that was a perfect fit for Dionysus' needs and so much more. Mr. Bonetati's work is nothing short of brilliant. He is highly professional and a joy to work with, and his graphics abilities include the widest possible range of styles with the highest skill level imaginable. His portfolio is astonishing and his rates are unbelievably reasonable. He truly is an artist of first-rate magnitude and I heartily recommend him to anyone considering employing a designer for any job that requires style, imagination and excellence.

We just relaxed and laughed and did what she told us, and the results were stunning. Not too photo-shopped but beautifully enhanced to highlight colors and features that might otherwise sink into the background. She came highly recommended from a friend and had done some work for my mom. The contract was clearly laid out, so we knew what we were getting, but she went above and beyond, evening staying later for the shoot than planned, to be sure we would have a lot to choose from. Her background with digital media and eye for lighting are what set her apart.

Suzanne is a creative and talented freelance illustrator. We were brought together through a web browser search but the relationship has grown to a collaborative partnership at its finest. While it is one thing to be an excellent artist, it is another to understand and interpret the voice of the client (author)—and Suzanne has done both for my book project. From the very first written description I sent to Suzanne, she “heard my innermost humorous voice!” She was successful in translating my brief description on the first iteration. Suzanne has sense created and delivered 24 high-quality and hilarious illustrations, which have exceeded my expectations. During the creative process she quickly made minor edits and continuously collaborated with me until each illustrations was to my satisfaction. Suzanne even provided creative suggestions to strength the subtleness of several of my illustrations. The work that Suzanne has done for me is noteworthy and I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with professional of her caliber, skills, and talent. I would recommended Suzanne for any future projects without hesitation and plan to continue our working relationship well into the future. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

      • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
      • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
      • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

What do you look for in a web design company?

The web design company you choose must be able to interpret your company’s mission and identity and turn it into an appealing website that connects with potential customers. They must help you reach your target audience and meet your business goals. A web design agency should have on staff both talented web designers, with fresh ideas and extensive technical and creative skills, and a marketing team that knows how to drive traffic to your site, encourage visitor engagement, and convert visitors into customers. Web designers should be able to build in search optimization and integrate your site with a content management system and e-commerce tools. Look, too, for a website design company that understands responsive design and can optimize your website for mobile devices and desktop browsers. The right web design company understand current design and website trends, has experience building sites in a variety of industries (not just yours), and has an expansive portfolio of live websites. Finally, don’t simply hire the cheapest bidder — in web design, as in all things, you get what you pay for.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
