My partner and I wanted to hire DJ For Hire because we seen Dexter at our friend’s wedding and he did such a great job that we had to hire him for ours. At first, we were apprehensive due to past experiences with interviewing other DJ’s and us being a same sex couple. However, Dexter was open and made us feel comfortable. He has such a great sense of humor. We used him for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. When we met with Dexter before our wedding we communicated the vibe we wanted and he nailed it. He rocked the house. The dance floor was packed the entire night. Dexter is such an amazing talent! We also decided to hire his coordinator because she was reasonably priced for the quality of services she would provide. On the day of my wedding, Denise went through the timeline, details of the event and checklist to make sure nothing had been overlooked. She also made suggestions on any decisions we were unsure of. I never thought I could relax and truly enjoy my wedding day but having Denise guiding my steps was the best investment. She was easy to work with, kind and friendly. Although we married two weeks ago we still remember the night being a huge success and we couldn’t be happier.

DJ Dexter was the DJ for our daughter Bat-Mitzvah party. He gets 5-stars for everything we expect of a DJ: music selection, timing of each music genre, keeping the crowd engaged, knowing when and how to change music styles. It was a particular challenging DJ event because of a mix of traditional Jewish music, teen dance-pop and Brazilian Bossa-Nova. DJ Dexter hit the right balance, and kept our guests dancing all the time. He also took special song requests from our daughter and her teen friends, and correctly played it always keeping everybody engaged and dancing. Thanks DJ Dexter for making our party such a memorable event.

We are so glad we went with DJforhire. We had already decided on ceremony, venue, cake, flowers, etc. The only thing missing was a DJ and day of coordination. Initially, we were given a list of recommendations for DJ’s to hire. The issues we found was the DJ companies didn’t also offer coordinating services. Needless to say when we found DJforhire who offered both services we were elated. From the beginning to the end, they were professional, pleasant and easy to work with. Dexter played all the right stuff at the right times. I really liked that he had the wedding party and guests on the dance floor all night. He made all my announcements and had the crowd stand around us for our first dance. It felt really special to have our closest friends and family right there. Denise, the coordinator was very responsive, helpful, organized and understood my needs. She made the entire process easy and stress-free. Denise kept it right in my price range. She only charged $200 and in comparison to other day of coordinators who charges anywhere from $700-$1000, she was a steal.

We were still on the sidelines down to the week before the ceremony on whether to hire a DJ or not. We wanted the music to run seamlessly, but we were also on a budget. After our initial phone call with Dex, we liked his energy and were sold on him running the music for our reception. (We had our own musicians for the ceremony.) He was also willing to work with our budget. We are glad we hired Dex because on the big day, there were so many unexpected things going on, that we didn’t have time to worry about the music. Even though we only decided on Dex a week before the event, Dex made it work and took care of us for our reception. The father-daughter/mother-son dance along with our first dance flowed smoothly. His song selection worked great to set the mood and keep the energy up for the guests, especially during the times when my wife and I were too busy to dance with them. Denise, Dex’s assistant, was also great. She came down to dance with us at our request to help the crowd get into it. You won’t go wrong with hiring Dex!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes I do a standard pricing system and that is by the hour; that makes it easy for a client to build around their budget. If you would like more details please give me a call so that I can explain how anyone should be able to afford a good DJ for their event!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like for a client to contact me via telephone so that both the client and I can see first are we a good match, and to discuss what their specific needs are. And after we talk a little we can discuss pricing to see if we can move forward. I like to keep it simple!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
This a very good question! In this line of work as a professional disc jockey the street is your best teacher or I could use the word stage! But the bottom-line is raw talent and you will not see too many DJs use this word. But, honestly being a good DJ is like being a good singer, quarterback, or drummer. Most are born with a talent that most don't have. I took music for 5 years that helps when it comes to my mixing skills and counting music, but the rest of my performance comes from the streets!
