very reasonable price although they didn't paint one side of the fence, I still think they are pretty honest people. Highly recommend to other people.

Bobby Ross of Paint Pro was very detail oriented and professional from the get-go. Bobby provided insight, suggestions, plans, and was very polite and flexible with my ever changing mind. Bobby is a great communicator by phone, text, email, and in person. One thing I really appreciated about Bobby is that he checks in on the job frequently with his sub-contractors and also shows up in person at the job site to see how everything is looking. Bobby provided us with nice English-speaking subcontractors to paint the entire inside of our house. It was a huge job which required numerous patch jobs, tape and floating, texture, baseboard replacements, etc. The previous owners did a lot of damage to this house that had to be corrected before we moved in. Bobby's guys, (Francisco & Samuel), did a great job of staying positive and even sang on the job numerous times. They stuck to the plan that Bobby provided and did exactly what he told them to do. Francisco and Samuel did an excellent job and took pride in their work. The house was so poorly painted before that they took before and after pictures to use on their profile page. Bobby also hired another subcontractor named Matt to refinish our kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Matt worked slow but meticulously. The cabinets look great. The only negative thing I can say is that Matt put the bathroom cabinet doors on upside down so we have to turn them around... but no biggie. That should be an easy fix. Paint Pro uses high quality paint from Sherwin Williams., not the cheap stuff you find at the big box stores. I highly recommend Paint Pro for any paint job you need.

Her lines were very clean, and she even shared a trick in case I ever decide to diy a project. I will not hesitate to hire her again when I need something painted.

Dan Popovich, the project manager for TEX PAINTING is all he says he is... He has a professional eye for detail. His moniker could very well be the FLASH action hero. He is fast, has inclinations for OCD perfection, and a marvelous help. I had all the exterior repainted in three different colors. Needed to have 1x6x12 wood trimming wrapping all the bottoms, and rework and caulk on aging seams and where those naughty squirrels scratched at my siding. So Dan really impressed me: in price, in speed, efficiency, and effectiveness. As a professional IT project manager for over 30-years, his skills are marvelous and a credit to our profession. I think he is better than me. His crew was almost perfect too. He said 4-men for three days, but it only took two men on two days, and one man for 1/2 day on the 3d day. Dan extended a professional courtesy in saving me money in the paint purchase, touching up some very minor oversights his crew overlooked, and is going to help me return these $9 pieces of wood I have left over. He says he lives in our neighborhood and I really felt safe and in good hands with Dan managing this project. Ask for Dan Popovich at TEX PAINTING to estimate and manage your painting projects. You will save so much money and be left with an exquisite masterpiece. Yours truly, Kendall Johns

Mario was amazing!! He was prompt and so polite. His work was impeccable and he was super clean. We will surely use Mario for more work around our house. Mario even went above and beyond by not only painting the walls but also all of the trim. After completing the work, Mario spent time cleaning the site and ensuring that everything had been returned to the proper location. I didn’t purchase enough paint so Mario was kind enough to go back to the paint store to get more. He brought the receipt and didn’t charge a dime more for the paint then it originally cost to purchase.

Okay so the job I asked for was admittedly simplified, but when Bill and Tony showed up they immediately sized up the job and began work immediately. They removed the existing cabinets and placed them in my garage for later use. Then they installed the new light fixtures, patched and painted the wall and installed the new cabinets. I was impressed at this point, but when the Master Electrician came to inspect the electrical work, I was amazed! My wife is so happy with the work that I have been given permission to hire Fixed again to install the old cabinets in my garage! Stay tuned, guys! And great touch with the door mat and shoe covers! That was the icing on the cake for my wife! Thank again!

Matt was excellent to work with. I had him paint all of my interior doors, frames, window wills, and baseboards/trim. He responded to my request very quickly and was available almost immediately to start work. He communicated very well and made sure we were on the same page about the project. He is knowledgeable and took the time to explain things to me when I had questions. Matt was very accommodating and arrived very early before I left for work (as I requested) and stayed late (until I got home from work). He would bring food so he could work mostly uninterrupted and so he didn't have to leave my house unlocked during the day. He payed attention to detail, taped off appropriate areas, covered furniture, etc and cleaned up the mess as much as possible. When he finished, he had me go around the whole house and inspect to make sure I was completely happy with his work and he touched up any areas I requested. I still have one more door that needs to be installed before he can paint it and he offered to come back and paint it within a timely fashion. All in all, Matt is very friendly, trustworthy, and hard-working with reasonable prices. He made the process as easy as possible and I would definitely hire him again.

I needed someone to paint the exterior of our 1940 house. I wanted a contractor willing to remove as much of the old, peeling paint as possible, and the big painting outfits are just not interested in doing this amount of prep work. I got five bids, and Fina Ross of ROSS Painting Contracting stood out to me from the start. As we walked around my house the first time, I noticed immediately her extreme attention to detail. She expressed concern about the various ways our house wasn't sealed against water and educated me on how she suggested correcting this prior to painting. Although I was also very interested in one other contractor, I chose Fina because she said she "really wants to give people what they want." I believed her, and she delivered on this promise. Fina worked hard to organize crews to powerwash, scrape, and sand the original wood siding. She made sure her guys filled every nook and cranny before painting. I also had Fina replace the trim around the windows. When the old trim was removed, Fina discovered that there was no insulation around any of the windows. She paused in the work to purchase what she needed to insulate the windows before replacing the trim. Once Fina addressed this unexpected need, it made a huge difference in reducing the street noise coming into our house. Throughout the project, we ran into unexpected bumps, and Fina did an excellent job of proposing the most cost-effective solutions that would also retain or add value to our home. I will not hesitate to hire Fina again for other home projects.

I'm sorely disappointed in the lack of professionalism in this work. On the phone, Joseph said that there would be a drop cloth to cover the sidewalk from drops, walls would be taped, that they always do a great job. I mistakenly took his quick phone contact as the real deal and scheduled without getting any other quotes. Upon arrival, there was no drop cloth, no tape to tape the side wall. He said he was initially going to use a paint roller to apply the stain, but now that it requires hand painting it will take a little longer. I put out a sheet for the guy to start working, and within minutes there were some splatters proving it was necessary. So many things were unsatisfactorily done. As you can see from the pictures, the poor attention to detail, lack of full staining on upper boards, splatters on the jam, etc. Moreover, I just built a bench, and the guy stepped on the bench with his boots leaving boot marks that I had to sand out and restain this afternoon. I also had to get out my ladder and stain areas that were missed on the lower areas. I got out the touch up paint for the side wall since they were going to try to use paint thinner on my exterior walls, so I stopped that before it could happen. A paint can was knocked over accidentally into my planter that now I had to clean out this afternoon as well. There's nothing I hate more than hiring someone to do work that requires me to do more work afterward. Despite my feedback throughout the process, they said that wood would always look different and that they indeed stained it. However, when I go back over with my cloth with stain and fix the spots, it's clear that they just wanted a quick job--which I was hoping for too. For as simple and straight forward as climbing a ladder and putting stain on a brush and being careful of were that stain went, It was an excruciatingly frustrating job that I just wanted to be over. Lesson learned about using Thumbtack.

Marcos did an exceptional job on our deck! We needed some boards replaced due to wood rot and also needed new paint. Marcos was easy to work with and an excellent communicator. We always knew what was going on each step of the way. He even hauled away the old wood. I would highly recommend Primetime Painting to anyone and will definitely give my friends and family his info when they need a paint job!

I would give Galactic Construction six stars if I could. I took a number of bids for an interior paint job. Marco was the most helpful out of all of the people who came by. He listened to our needs, understood our budget limits and what we *didn't* need, and offered a very fair price. After Marco and his team efficiently completed the job, my wife and I were very glad to see that Galactic Construction completed what we asked to a high standard. But what really impressed us was that Marco decided to paint parts of the walls and trim that we didn't think we could afford. He didn't charge us extra. He did it because he thought it would look better, and he wanted to do a great job. So we have here a company with integrity, professionalism, affordability, and promptness. You couldn't ask for more.

Johnny and his crew did amazing work at a great price. Hired for exterior and interior painting. They had a very high attention to detail and noticed some things I hadn’t and worked with me to make sure they were included in the job within my budget. They went above and beyond, making sure to remove shelves to paint inside closets and didn’t get any paint on the cabinet hardware. Very impressed. I will definitely hire them again for painting, and possibly tile or floor work as well.

Had a very good experience with Jose. He communicated well, was priced fairy, and did a thorough job painting a few rooms on very short notice. Even painted one room twice because he wasn’t satisfied with only 1 coat. After drying the walls looked excellent! Will hire him again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
