We are a family with 2 boys who have been a few days living in our first house in Allen. Walking out the door on our first couple nights, I walked straight into a hefty sized web, greeted by a few sizeable spiders. After that we began seeing more inside our home, along with some mosquitos and other flying creatures, and I did not want to risk my 2, or 10 year old from being on the receiving end of a spider or insect bite. I reached out to M&M Pest control services and immediately I was working with their crew for help. Scheduling a time for a technician to arrive was a cinch. The technician was punctual, polite, and easy to work with. He carefully listened and answered every question I had. I now feel comfortable in our new home with the confidence of walking on our floors barefoot, not having to worry about something bothering my family. I am impressed with their level of professionalism and customer service. They are passionate about what they do and the service they provide. I highly recommend M&M to anyone needing help with pest/wildlife control.

I had a fantastic experience with this company! The techs were always prompt and a pleasure to work with. They addressed any concerns I might have and took the time to answer all my questions. Also, between the text reminders for treatments and the automated bill pay I basically didn't have to think about our pest control, which as a busy mom of four is a huge relief.

Kory came out and saved us from a chigger apocalypse! He was personable, profressional, and thorough. It took 2 rounds to get them under control but Kory didn't even bat an eyelash at having to come back. He offered round 2 as a freebie(under his guarantee) even though I have almost 3 acres. I gave him some $ anyway for his excellent work ethic and attitude. Great guy, great work. He will be my bug go to guy for the future!

We found A Wildlife Pro by way of a link on the website AA Animal Control.com as a recommended local source in Plano, TX. I called the owner, Matt Evans, and left a voice message. Within five minutes, Matt returned my call. He explained in detail the process for our problem and gave me a ballpark cost for normal jobs of this type. Matt was very friendly and informative. I liked what he said so we decided to schedule an appointment. At Matt's instructions, I emailed Katherine, the office manager, with my information and to request an appointment. She emailed me back in less than 30 minutes to get an idea of my availability. She sent out Carl the next morning. He inspected the outside of our house, explained what holes needed to be sealed, and gave us the cost. We agreed, and Carl immediately sealed all outside openings where rodents could get in and then set traps in the attic. Carl returned in five days to check the traps and found three dead juvenile rats. Since I had still heard something running around a few hours before he arrived to check the traps, Carl reset them and returned in four days to recheck the traps. Nothing was in the traps, and I have not heard anymore sounds. To be on the safe side, Carl said he would return again in a few days to recheck the traps, but he felt all the rodents were gone. A Wildlife Pro did a wonderful job, and their customer service is outstanding. Matt's and Katherine's quick replies to my initial inquiries were very much appreciated as I was very uncomfortable knowing animals were in the attic, and my sleep was being disturbed by the noise. Katherine maintained excellent email contact with me about all follow-up appointments and also supplied more explanations about what to expect during this process which greatly reassured me. Carl was always exactly on time as promised, was very friendly and professional, did an excellent job of sealing the outside of the house, and reassured me the problem would be easily resolved. A few months later, we contacted Katherine again with a problem of rats in our backyard. She sent Matt out that evening, and with a few trappings, that problem was also solved. I highly recommend A Wildlife Pro for anyone with unwanted wildlife problems. They're wonderful!

We had a small problem with roaches, totally disgusting. Jessy responded to my post right away and was very helpful just over the phone. We scheduled him for the weekend, which was very helpful, and he was right on time. He treated our kitchen (the problem area) and sprayed the house. His price is amazing, he is knowledgeable and very friendly. Its been only two days since treatment and we are already seeing a difference! We have had services from Orkin and not been this satisfied with service. I would highly recommend 1st Line Termite & Pest Control.

Vitero was easy to hire, responsive, punctual, and great value for the regular pest control services. He is the owner of this service -so you are not dealing with subcontractor etc. He recently treated my place, so it's too early to comment on the overall quality but he was very professional and transparent to the services he has to offer.

We've recently had some new unwanted "friends" in and around our house lately. Taylor Crabtree and Quick Capture Animal Control were recommended to me by a friend - and I would like to recommend them to you. Taylor Crabtree is a professional. He was very quick on returning any/all of my calls, setting up appointments (initial, service call and follow up) etc. He and his colleague Chad, were very knowledgeable about who was visiting and the best way to deter any further problems from (hopefully) arising. The PS to the story, Taylor promises to come back, any time my "friends" return. I would definitely recommend - and have - Taylor Crabtree & Quick Capture to anyone, however I hope you don't have the same "friends" I do... :) Quick Capture Animal Removal Taylor Crabtree 817-941-2091 www.quickcaptureanimal.com Please let him know that "DallasYogi" says Hello

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
