I was so happy with my choice for movers this time around. My last move with All My Sons went as wrong as could be on every level. The 3 guys with Cordobe Solutions and the woman who works in the office kept in communication with me from the very beginning of the day. There were no hidden fees or extra fees. The $75/hour and the $40 trip fee were clearly stated so I was able to accurately budget. AND, to top it off, they finished 1 hour under my 4 hour limit!!! I have never moved and been under budget so this really made my day. The guys were professional, polite, and so efficient! The guys from the last company I used (All My Sons) actually told me that they were still tired and sore from a move they did the day before and it absolutely showed - which must be why they did not complete my move within time or budget! So, you can imagine my worry about whether Cordobe would do the same. My fears were put to rest as soon as they showed up. They hopped out of the truck, introduced themselves, had me sign a paper, and then just got to work. Their attitude was excellent even though my bedroom furniture is soooo heavy. But, they never complained like the last movers did. I was amazed how quickly they loaded up! I am so happy I chose Cordobe Solutions, LLC. I hope I don't have to move again any time soon but, if I do, then I will 100% use Cordobe Solutions, LLC again.

This group of four men were AMAZING!!!! They wrapped everything so carefully and none of the furniture was damaged in the move. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! We even had an issue with getting the key and they did us a solid favor by taking their lunch then so that we could buy some time which we got the keys with 5 minutes to spare of them arriving. It could have not been more perfect and we really appreciated them working with us. Only side note for future reference for anyone reading this. If you plan for 2 hours a lot 3 in your budget. If you plan for 4 a lot for 6 in your budget. You get the idea. Anyways, it was worth every penny for them to move us! Thank you!!!

I've hired movers many times for previous moves and I can tell you hands down, that Lori's team at We Can Do It is the absolute BEST I've ever hired! Lori is a pleasure to work with! She was so considerate of our moving budget and worked with us every step of the way! Chris was our head mover and he was very knowledgeable! He worked at a careful, but consistent pace and made sure to wrap all our furniture for moving! I will definitely be working with Lori's team again and if I could give them 10 stars I would!

Be warned. Think twice before booking with this company or else pray that nothing goes wrong. Hired this company for a local move on June 10th, the moving crew showed up on time and were quick in unloading and loading. However, several pieces of appliances were damaged during the move. It was pointed out to the moving crew and I was told that the owner will be in contact with me. No calls was received. I contacted the owner and I was told to provide more information and pictures. No updates whatsoever after that. Contacted them again and was told to provide the same information again. This goes on for several weeks until I realized that this company has no intention to do the right thing. I sent them another message today asking for partial refund to cover the damages caused but my message was ignored. I understand accidents happen but this company claims that they are fully insured and bonded, it should not be so difficult to file a claim. It will not end here. Pictures attached is just one part of the damage.

Hiring Jackye for the cleaning house we were moving in was a worth of money. Her bid was little higher than other cleaning service but I hired her since she had great reviews and it was the right choice. She was very patient also on my change of schedule(twice) due to the painting of the house. My house is now sparkly clean! Thank you Jackye!

Easy process to set up. The two bellhops contacted me before and showed up on time. My only complaints are that it is a little bit pricey. $120 for 10-15 min of work moving two couches from downstairs to upstairs seems too much. And then when they moved the couch upstairs they put a hole through my wall....which was the primary reason I wanted to hire professionals instead of doing it myself.

The guys showed up, did a solid job loading a budget truck, and were very fast. They moved an 800 sq foot apartment in 1 hr and 10 minutes. It would have only been an hour but I caused some delay by not having everything completely ready to load or it would have been just an hour. They loaded they truck very well. When we unloaded it everything was in good condition.

These guys did a great job of: - Calling me he day before to confirm the appointment - Showing up on time - Being professional and courteous during the entire move - Hustling the entire time (these guys were jogging between loads!) - Not taking any unnecessary risks with moving too much at any given time I'm very happy with our move and would highly recommend these guys!!! Thanks, Josh G.

These guys did a great job on very short notice. I couldn’t be at the property, but without my asking they started sending photos of their progress. This was voluntary accountability that made me feel comfortable with their work. I could see by photos they were the right people for the very fast job I needed on a property with a new tenant moving in with in hours. They were punctual, professional and I will hire them again!

They responded by phone quickly, provided a quote and were easy to contact. The only issue was that they were delayed both in pickup and delivery by truck issues. We had flexibility so it did not create any time issues on our part.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.
