Sharon made me feel like family member and understood how I felt about making a change of a lifetime. She has my best interest at heart.Jun 27, 2015Verified
Unfortunately I hired this woman based on thumbtack reviews, and couldn’t be more disappointed. She was horrendous. She actually did more harm than good in my custody case. My family thinks she is starting to suffer from dementia. She never knew anything about my case in court, made almost zero effort to fight for me, but instead wanted me to just give in most of the time. It’s sad because this was my child and my future with my child. I can’t say enough about how terrible my experience was. I actually caught her lying to me a couple of times to cover up that she was putting another case before mine. Please please please use anyone else If this case involves your children. Don’t risk it. She would forget extremely important details of the law and then later act like I was supposed to know them. Her aids do all her work. She just shows up and reviews for about 10 minutes before the court date. She talks down to you, and is NEVER wrong. But let me be clear. This is not a “She wasn’t nice to me situation”, this was a she almost lost my custody case. I have one child. Please use anyone else.Jun 22, 2018VerifiedLaw Offices of Sharon Merrick's reply
I am sorry that you your case was mismanaged. I generally have good success with custody cases and enjoy them. My other reviews prove this and I could provide many more on request. I have changed my in office procedure after your case to be certain my clients have a clear understanding of exactly what the judge orders in a temporary orders hearing. When you do not follow exactly what the judge says, there are consequences. I had only that one hearing with you and I am glad your new lawyer was able to guide you through a mediation that ended up with what you wanted and your child needed. I wish you and your child only the best,
Overall great experience!Dec 18, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I have a small practice. My husband, Rollie, recently retired and is now handles the "nuts and bolts" in the office. To keep costs down, I depend on my paralegal, to do the drafting of legal documents, letters and emails to opposing counsels or parties. My role is to fully review the paralegal's work and represent you in court, third-party meditations or negotiations with the opposing counsel. This proven model significantly reduces you legal bills...
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? All attorneys are required to complete courses in ethics and their legal specialty - Family Law for me. If an attorney doesn't keep up with the always changing Texas law, the attorney will lose their Texas Bar Association card and won't be able to practice law.
- How did you get started doing this type of work? The money in the business world was great, but it was time for me to give back and help those who are facing the life challenges I had to overcome...
