Introduction: I like to start all students with a low-risk trial lesson. This allows the student to see how I teach, how I enable them to explore music.
Usually, first-timers leave the lesson feeling excited about the possibilities!
9 of 10 times, both the student and I CAN'T WAIT to keep learning!
Music is a tool that can liberate you. Music can help you see clearly. Music is a way to attack your stress and anxiety and expel it from you.
That's what music is for me atleast. It's my medicine. My friend. My blanket. My language.
I can't stand it when people use music to enslave. When music is used to make someone seem bigger or better it is a bondage. I can't stand for it. I stand for music as a source of liberation and joy.
I know my words are dripping with the cheesy sauce of cliché, but I don't care. When I am feeling my best, my words are bold. Sometimes too bold for the person hearing them without the context of my silly smile. So, with no shame, I'll continue…
Now is the time to use music as a tool for liberation.
We are in an artistic renaissance of such magnitude the universe has never seen before. There is a whole cosmos of beautiful art erupting from the hearts and minds of young people. Amplified by the technological tools, and ease of sharing, Gen X Y & Z are literally re-molding our world.
I can't sit still and watch the huge waves of music and energy pass by me. I'm drawn to those waves. I want to get on my rocket-powered surfboard and carve them up with everyone else. I want to ride along with millions of other young people doing awesome stuff. (especially the ones that haven’t even gotten their creative surfboards yet)
My dream isn't to become famous or sell lots of albums. My dream is to be a gardener . To get my hands dirty preparing the ground. To help nourish the seeds of creativity. To create a structure for the flowering of conscious art.
I won't apologize for flowery writing or long sentences. I won't apologize for typos, or errors. But i will simplify:
I want to make kids into musical superheroes.
Who's with me?
