Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Having studied music pedagogy at the University of Texas at Austin, I know how to break down the vastness of music fundamentals and performance into bite-sized chunks that so that students can accomplish a steady string of achievable goals that add up to demonstrable, measurable improvement. I also am well-versed in both classical music and improvised styles such as jazz. As such, I can encourage creativity and improvisation without losing sight of fundamental skills or the great body of classical music that students traditionally use to develop sight reading and technique. I love seeing a student grow in musicianship, developing skills that empower a broad range of musical expression. I get to share in the satisfaction and pride a students exudes after a good performance.

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

My one my composition students recently won a composition competition. I assigned that he write a fugue (a tricky baroque form with lots of counterpoint) and he said he didn't know how. We worked on it and, after lots of hard work on his part he turned the winning entry. I am very proud of Thomas and his hard work!

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I just wish people knew how much fun it is to play music! Either playing solo or in a group with friends or colleagues, expressing yourself through music is a physical, mental, and even spiritual experience that everyone should have.
