Edie did some work in half the time it took another contractor. Would hire again. Was a little pricier than another but work was ten times better.

So I always try my best to give credit where credit is due...If you are looking for an Honest, Hardworking, Professional Electrician that services Austin, Buda, Kyle, San Marcos, New Braunfels, Wimberly and surrounding areas…LOOK NO FURTHER! C W Electrical Services Jason Davis, ME – 512-912-6517 – Residential, Retail, and Industrial electrical repair and remodel service. Jason Davis worked tirelessly on all my projects. He was upfront about things that he felt would not benefit me in the long run. How refreshing is that? A professional person looking out for YOUR best interest and not just looking to line their pockets with your hard earned money? Jason installed security lights to the front, back, and side yard. (It looks like daylight in the night time) He installed shower light in mom’s bathroom to add to her safety. (Huge differance) Last and not least, he installed my security cameras. In addition to all of that he helped me with some small projects that would have taken me a couple of hours to complete; he did them in a matter of minutes, because of his vast knowledge in home projects. So if you are needing any assistance with projects small or large, please keep Jason in mind. Thank you

Quality: The finish they did was great! Matched other rooms very well. Getting a good texture match was important to me. Professionalism: Team was polite and courteous. Responsiveness: Joel always responded via Thumbtack quickly. I always knew the status of the work and when he thought they would be finished. Value: His bid was not the cheapest nor the most expensive. I find you get what you pay for -- and for the quality of work, what he bid was very reasonable. Punctuality: In general, very punctual. Our first day the team was a little late (got hung up at the supply store), but they hustled over as fast as they could. Otherwise, they finished when I expected they would. Other remarks: Popcorn removal is a messy process -- this case was no exception. While they did an admirable job covering the floors, and trying to minimize the impact, dust still got everywhere - even in parts of the house where they weren't working. There was also texture splatter here and there, but they cleaned it up without complaint. Expect that this process will require you paint your walls in the rooms where it is done. The ceiling will look so much nicer it will make your walls look awful. If you plan to paint your walls, wait and do popcorn removal first. :D They also were game to take on a little extra item here and there (we negotiated $$ as we went). Saved me from having to hire separate contractors later -- so that was a bonus. Having worked with a lot of sub-contractors and home improvement projects, the work was done very well. The dust / mess I can clean-up (and frankly, it was expected). Solid A overall.

David did an outstanding job on various home renovations. He worked very hard, paid attention to detail, very competitive pricing, had a good attitude and always made sure to discuss both the process of his work and what next steps were in order. Our family trusts David and I plan on hiring him for other projects very soon.

Queta gave us a reasonable quote, and was willing to do extra items like trim trees over the roof. We had loads of questions and Henry answered every one of them without hesitation. They were very professional and did a very nice job. We will certainly use Queta for other home repair and remodeling services in the future. They are A+.

Work done: bathroom remodel How long it lasted: approximately one month What went well: Marco and crew were very receptive to feedback and made all necessary adjustments in a timely manner. Worked full days. Kept the area outside the remodel clean and were trustworthy. What could have been better: A more accurate estimate about how long items ordered take to arrive would have been helpful in completing the process quicker. Everything took longer than initial estimate. More attention to detail in tile work, but it is possible that my expectations may be a little high. Final thoughts: Work done was above average, and the price was competitive. I would use Sellmark for future projects. Recommendations to homeowners considering a remodel: Personally call vendors to find out how long items take to arrive and include the question when is your next appointment time for measuring if that is applicable. Make sure subcontractors are willing to work with each other in coordinating deliveries and installation. I experienced difficulty with cabinet delivery and counter installation contractors working together. This had nothing to do with Marco...just a suggestion! And lastly if the time estimate is two weeks for a project mentally prepare for that to be twice as long unless the job has very few moving parts!

Arthur with Resurrection General Contractors was my point of contact for my roofing project. It's not often I write a review or share my thought but when you have a company that delivers on their promise 100% I would recommend them. Arthur was very professional and went out of his way to ensure my needs were met. My roof and soffits are straighter than they ever have been. In addition Arthur was able to provide competitive bids on replacement windows and I'm looking forward to having them replaced next week. Thanks again for all your help! Best regards, Dena

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

    What is a general contractor?

When starting a home remodel or new construction project, you will probably hire a general contractor. A general contractor is a professional who is qualified to take a set of building plans and construct them as outlined. The general contractor may help perform the day-to-day building, or they may just hire workers and oversee all the work activities. In either case, the job of the general contractor is to see that your project gets built.

When you have a building project, ask for bids from various contractors. The bids tell you how much each will charge and what their scope of work will be. Once you have selected a bid, you sign a contract with that general contractor outlining the specifics of the project and the milestones during the project when they will receive payment installments. Once the contract is official, the general contractor will bring in their crew to begin construction. The contractor will manage the workers and subcontractors (anyone who doesn’t work directly for their company but that they need to outsource, like a marble installation pro), order all the materials, obtain work permits, and confirm that all the workers and subcontractors are completing their projects as planned. They typically handle all the payments to the workers and subcontractors, and send you invoice. For all these reasons, it’s also especially important to follow a few smart hiring practices when it comes to finding a general contractor.  If you are organized and competent to oversee construction projects, and are able to make sure everything is being built properly and meeting code, it’s possible you can be your own general contractor.

How do you choose a commercial general contractor?

A commercial contractor provides similar services as a residential general contractor but specializes in working with large-scale projects for businesses, schools, nonprofits, governments and development firms. When researching commercial general contractors, review their portfolio of work and confirm they have ample experience working in the area you need. For example, if you are building a small strip mall, ask if the contractors have experience successfully incorporating all the needed elements such as a parking lot, meeting ADA requirements, accessing the proper permits, and completing work on time.

Once you’ve identified several qualified candidates, request bids for your project and then compare the scope of work with your needs and budget. Your commercial general contractor should oversee design, permitting, construction, materials purchase, and adherence to building code and zoning regulations, as well as sticking to an agreed-upon budget and schedule. It’s important to establish clear communication with your future commercial general contractor, as this will mean a smoother process for everyone. For all these reasons, it’s also especially important to follow a few smart hiring practices when it comes to finding a general contractor.

Do I need a contractor for a kitchen remodel?

A kitchen remodel is one of the most important investments you can make in your home, and it’s critical to get the details right; that’s where a home renovation contractor comes in. A minor remodel usually includes new cabinet faces and hardware, replacement appliances, and paint, while an extensive job may enlarge the kitchen’s square footage, install new cabinets or an island, change the layout, and lay new tile or hardwood floors. Any renovation that includes filing permits, construction, or electrical or plumbing work is best completed by an experienced contractor who knows local codes.

How much will it cost to remodel my house?

The cost to remodel a home is highly variable — size and scope of the project, quality of materials, and the number of subcontractors required to complete the job all affect the total cost. The average national cost of a home renovation project is $13,500. The national average per-square-foot cost of a remodel ranges from $25 to $100. Nationally, kitchen and bathroom remodels are the most popular types of projects, in part because they typically have the highest return on investment when the home is sold. The national average cost of a major kitchen remodel ranges from $25,000 to $62,000, while the average bathroom remodel tends to cost $6,000 to $18,000. In addition to materials and labor costs, many remodeling project costs include permit fees, which, average $900 or more, depending on your location.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
