Mr. Jones and wife are a good team and from what my husband and I observed, can do mostly anything dealing with repairs and upgrades. We called on a Tuesday morning for a paint estimate of our 20 foot walls, he came out the same day with an estimate and completed the job the next day, Wednesday. We also had a light fixture we wanted to change out and asked him if he could do it and he did that too for a marginal fee. We will call again and recommend to others.

I give them 5 stars because I can't give them 10. We hired them to stain our fence that was over a year old. He told me every step of the way what he was doing, what to expect, and why. They paid attention to details. I would highly recommend this company for any paint job as they do quality work. Excellent work and very happy with Highly recommended!

Great work for a great price! Took care of my laundry list of drywall and interior paint issues, from small screw holes to larger sections that had been removed for plumbing access.

The PaintPro team did great work at our house. There were some issues with scheduling and timing when it came to the actual days where someone was there painting but Bobby did his best to resolve quickly. I'm only rating 4 instead of 5 due to some minor cleanup not being completed. There was left over wall paper on top of our refrigerator and paint in the sink after the job was completed.

Ryan and crew were more than I could have hoped for. I provided exacting specs for the job I wanted done, and they delivered — even suggesting improvements along the way to yield an even better end result than I could have hoped for. They removed a pass-thru wall air conditioner for me, reinforced the structure once the hole was wide open, added insulation, and then covered the exterior with OSB plywood and hardie lap siding and painted, per spec. Interior, they patched with drywall, taped and floated, then painted. Great work, will use them again.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with ProCoat Painting on my house project. His estimate for the time it would take was right on point. Miguel and his associate did a fantastic job. They painted the entire interior of my home. Every room with crown molding and baseboards and a new paint color all walls. The detail in his work is phenomenal. I also asked him to paint my existing kitchen cabinets. They turned out a beautiful mahogany color. All in all, they did an incredible job, very courteous, very quiet, and very dependable work. I will be using his services again soon for painting in my garage.

Tex Painting did an excellent job. They were able to squeeze me in on short notice for an interior paint job which included all walls and ceilings. They were done on time and the job was done well. Very clean lines. I will definitely use them again.

Quality of work for level of experience was appropriate. Mario resolved most problems encountered as quickly as possible. I would hire him again because of his professionalism and the fact that he went beyond his scope of responsibility to help me with packing and moving my household items. I found two areas of my home that still needed exterior painting, called him, and he came out to try to finish the job. Due to the wintry weather, the paint would not adhere so he will be coming back to repaint the areas. I do trust that he will complete the the repainting.

We loved everything about working with Flying V's. Matt was knowledgeable and very friendly. He was quick to answer our questions and provide his expertise as we researched colors and paint finishes and what worked best for the rooms we had. We also liked that he encouraged us to pick out as many colors as we wanted. Next, the painting itself was very high quality. Matt strives for quality and integrity and we saw that clearly. Matt himself along with Jason and Mason did our project and all did exceptional work. Jason and Mason were both friendly as well. We would highly recommend Flying V's for any type of painting project.

Okay so the job I asked for was admittedly simplified, but when Bill and Tony showed up they immediately sized up the job and began work immediately. They removed the existing cabinets and placed them in my garage for later use. Then they installed the new light fixtures, patched and painted the wall and installed the new cabinets. I was impressed at this point, but when the Master Electrician came to inspect the electrical work, I was amazed! My wife is so happy with the work that I have been given permission to hire Fixed again to install the old cabinets in my garage! Stay tuned, guys! And great touch with the door mat and shoe covers! That was the icing on the cake for my wife! Thank again!

Matt and his business partner, Carlos, have done and are doing an outstanding job. I hired him to paint all the interior woodwork and doors. I have just extended the contract to include painting the interior walls as well, Matt was on time and within the budget we'd agreed to and the work is very professional. Both Matt and Carlos are very personable and friendly and easy to work with. I plan to rehire Matt when I'm ready to paint the exterior of my new house.

Everyone should hire Derek and his team. They are professional, courteous, on time, and honest. And more than fair when it comes to estimates. They tackled my exterior home paint project like champs, and it came out beautiful! I couldn't be happier. Thank you, Derek!!

I hired Sonny to install and paint two metal doors. He did a great job at both. I would highly recommend him and use his services again. He was professional, punctual, provided good recommendations and was willing to work around a tenants schedule. He did what he said he was going to do.

Marcos painted one room in our house. He was very prompt with his communication and very gracious when we cancelled the first time and set up a new time. He did a good job with the room and even did extra coats since the paint was lighter than we anticipated. After he finished he very quickly cleaned up and even helped us to get rid of some old furniture since we have a small car. I would hire him again if we need another room painted.

I hired Bud (a referral from my brother) to repair extensively the exterior of my home, paint and patch my interior ceiling. His attention to detail is pretty extraordinary! I travel alot for work and it was beyond comforting to know that I could completely trust Bud and his team to do the work while I was gone, no question! He even gave small jobs to my 19 year old son with disabilities, way above and beyond! Thank you Bud! I am saving my $ to have Bud build a tiny house in back. If you need help with a project, Bud is the guy.

I would give Galactic Construction six stars if I could. I took a number of bids for an interior paint job. Marco was the most helpful out of all of the people who came by. He listened to our needs, understood our budget limits and what we *didn't* need, and offered a very fair price. After Marco and his team efficiently completed the job, my wife and I were very glad to see that Galactic Construction completed what we asked to a high standard. But what really impressed us was that Marco decided to paint parts of the walls and trim that we didn't think we could afford. He didn't charge us extra. He did it because he thought it would look better, and he wanted to do a great job. So we have here a company with integrity, professionalism, affordability, and promptness. You couldn't ask for more.

Daniel is very handy. I gave him a variety of tasks to complete around my house including hanging blinds, mounting a TV, replacing bathroom mirrors, fixing some cracks in the drywall, and some minor paint repair. He did it all very efficiently. Highly recommend!

Johnny and his crew did amazing work at a great price. Hired for exterior and interior painting. They had a very high attention to detail and noticed some things I hadn’t and worked with me to make sure they were included in the job within my budget. They went above and beyond, making sure to remove shelves to paint inside closets and didn’t get any paint on the cabinet hardware. Very impressed. I will definitely hire them again for painting, and possibly tile or floor work as well.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
