The job was to remove old flooring and replace with tile. Then I was. Needing a tub removal and replace with shower. Eddie responded with a yes and did the job that was trickie but he accomplished the task. I would recommend, Eddie, he is trust worthy and a good Christan Man. It has been a pleasure working with him. Anna Baldwin

Jose and Alberto came by and gave me an estimate on the job. It was $350+materials for a 19' section of fence replacement with two 4' gates. We arranged a time for 9 am Saturday. He texted to say he was on his way, but did not arrive until 9:30, no problem. I thought Jose and Alberto were going to work on this project together, but Jose left after the materials were off loaded, and it took Alberto 8 hours to complete by himself. The only major issue was with language. Neither of them spoke much English at all. The day of the estimate, I had to go ask a neighbor to translate for me. Jose does speak some, but then he left and we could not communicate AT ALL with Alberto. Overall the work was spot on, and Alberto did a great job. They cleaned up all the old wood from the fence, which I was very thankful for. I would hire them again any time.

Marco was very easy to deal with - professional and always on time. He took the time with us to explain advantages/disadvantages of different options and materials when making large decisions, left the design mostly up to us so we could create the bathroom we really wanted. The subcontractor he hired to do the tiling did such great work on our bathroom. Our custom-built vanity was exactly what I had envisioned. At the very end, it took longer than we expected to get the glass doors installed on our shower, but the bathroom was usable and house cleaned up once all the other work was done. He and his workers took care to not make a mess outside of the work zone and protect our wood flooring in our home, and when the work was complete a cleaning person came in and cleaned not only our bathroom, but all the rooms they had been walking through to get to the bathroom everyday. It was a nice and unexpected touch. The price was very fair, the work was very good, and we will definitely call Marco for our next home project. Original timeline was quoted as 3 - 4 weeks (not including glass install) and we ended up taking closer to 5 weeks (not including glass install) but I don't think I expected us to make it under 4 weeks anyway.

Dulce was absolutely incredible! She was quick to respond, and eager to get all of the details perfect for us. They designed, and installed a beautiful horizontal cedar fence with 2 gates, cleared out our old fence and trees, as well as putting on a new roof. All in under a week. I highly recommend J &L Concrete and Roofing for any remodel, fencing, or roofing project. They can do it all! Total pro's!

We recently used TUR Demolition & Construction for a back porch addition. We've never been happier with a service, and plan to use them for all our future home remodeling. It's a BBB Insured small family business. And within their family there doesn't seem to be anything they can't do. They did plumbing work, electrician work, custom cabinets, roofing, concrete. From the beginning stages, the communication was great and they were very flexible with me as we imagined what this porch would look like. They ended up delivering an even better product than I had imagined. The project was painless, they were consistent with their time every day and stayed and worked until they were in a good place for the next day. At the end of each day, they tidied up their tools and set them aside to keep the backyard clean. It was so nice working with the same people throughout the process. We've had work done in the past where the GC comes in, negotiates a contact, sends different crews day to day and checks in here and there. With this company you are working with the GC everyday. He's doing the work, alongside his team. I can't say enough about their quality work. You'll just have to give them a call and see for yourself :)

Juan and his crew handled a number of projects for me. He replaced the light fixtures in my kitchen ceiling, hung a pot rack and stabilized a ceiling fan. As a part of this, he patched and painted the ceiling. When we had problems with the light fixtures working, he quickly had a electrician on site who troubleshot the problem. Juan was prepared to absorb this cost himself, however the problem had nothing to do with the installation. It was a bad switch. My additional cost was very reasonable. He replaced my back door and installed a storm door. They found termite damage, showed me the damage and added a very reasonable fee to replace the wood around where the door was to be installed. As a part of this, he returned the door I had purchased in error and picked up a new one. He fixed a leak in my roof that was caused by the way an old satellite dish had been mounted on the roof. This necessitated cutting out part of the roof, replacing the plywood and re-shingling. I was very pleased and plan to use Juan and his crew on a regular basis to maintain my home.

JAVIER WAS ON TIME AND THE QUALITY OF WORK WAS NOTICED BY MY NEIGHBORS. THE ONLY THING THAT COULD HAVE GONE BETTER WAS THE WEATHER IT WAS PRETTY HOT OUT THERE BUT MR SARIANO AND HIS TEAM WORKED THROUTH IT. The asphalt roof on my house has had hail damage over the last couple of years. I contacted a few vendors for doing the work for price and scope of work comparisons. All were comparable in price, but Arran's business seemed more knowledgeable in the roofing business and in using modern technology in doing cost estimates. Overall, I was totally satisfied with the work that was done. However, I must mention that the clean-up activities was not 100%, nor the pre-roofing removal prep work. My AC unit and front window shrubs were not covered to prevent debris infusion. Other clean-up activities were excellent though, such as complete clean-up on my deck and neighbors patio. This review was done 2 days after the installation. My opinion of quality may change after the first rainfall occurs. But given what I observed of the installation, I suspect the quality will still be excellent.

I used Pure construction for the installation of new gutters as well as some door, window and wood rot removal at a new home I purchased. The quality of their work was excellent and they showed up as planned and worked with me to make sure all work was completed to my satisfaction. Such a good experience I hired them to do work on my other property too! Brook and his dedicated team led by Joel were people you can trust and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended, good value and highly responsive.

I have hired numerous contractors for home renovation projects over the years and this is the first I would not hesitate calling on again for future projects or home repairs. Anthony's agreeable personality and astute knowledge of most aspects of building and construction caused a very satisfied experience. He professionally installed two skylights, replaced the roof shingles on part of my house doing a better job than the specialized firm I had hired two years ago for the other half, took care of plumbing, drywall, floor tiles and some electric work for my new kitchen and back porch - all very well done and at reasonable cost, no surprises. He stays true to his quote and makes no shortcuts when encountering a snag, as well as offering solutions that helped me save money. I also found his honesty refreshing. All that definitely deserves a 5 star rating and I highly recommend Anthony and those on his team for any construction, repair or remodel project big or small.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
