Emilio Negrete, with Quality Pro Finish & Painting, did an excellent job by overriding and redoing a previous painting cabinet job done by Cutberto Santana via Nextdoor.com. which was unacceptable. Emilio and Company gave me a break financially since the previous person did me wrong by ruining my cabinets. I am extremely satisfied with the work Quality Pro Finish & Painting did on all my cabinets. I will always use their services for anything and everything that requires top quality work! Thank you again Emilio and Company!!

Joseph replaced all the wood that was dammaged from a water leak. He is a wonderful carpenter. He put up all the sheet rock, placed the plumbing in my shower. He put in my sink and cabinet for my sink and put in my toilet. He is the best person on getting the job done right.

We hired RD & S to refurbish our kitchen cabinet doors by replacing the plain centers with beadboard. They did a fantastic job and we even expanded the scope to have RD & S prep and paint the doors/drawers as well. They were very professional and accommodating to our holiday schedule and we couldn't be more pleased with our "new" kitchen cabinets. We will definately use them again for additional cabinetry work.

Joe completed a complete bathroom and living room remodel for us. He was able to creatively solve the problems with our layout and we couldn't be more pleased with the result. He later updated our kitchen cabinets and laid our hardwood floors. His attention to detail is fantastic! There were no surprises with price or timeline. His experience gives him a well rounded opinion about what will work or won't.

Tom is the handyman everyone is looking for. Polite, knowledgeable and professional. He cleaned up and painted my kitchen and bathroom after water damage which included removing popcorn ceiling and painting cabinets. He has shown expertise in every task. His prices are a little higher than some but his pride in perfection makes him worth every cent. I will never hire anyone else for any project since I met Tom.

I had and existing closet door, frame and trim removed. Opening was then framed in, sheetrock installed and then textured. A built in cable box cabinet and power outlet was moved to prep for new closet installation. Corey was very professional and the finished result looks fantastic. His pricing is very competitive. I will use him again for future projects.

I was extremely pleased with the custom cabinets Val built for my home office. I drafted a design with all the measurements and he executed them to perfection far exceeding my expectations by including soft close doors/drawers, pre-drilling the holes for my handles (the screws that came with the handles I purchased were too short otherwise he would’ve installed them himself), and even cutting out small holes so I can still access the electrical outlet from within the cabinets. There was so much attention to detail that I appreciated how he was able to accommodate all my requests. I love how it all came together, you can see how amazing it looks in the photos..it’s even better in person! Very professional and easy to work with; I plan to use Val again for all my custom woodworking needs!

For all you people who need cabinet work, you could never go wrong in hiring Tony Lopez. This man is the epitome of a true professional. Our cabinets are so beautiful that my wife and I sat here admiring his work. Our son was calling his friends bragging about what a great decision I had made when I hire Mr. Lopez He is a genuine individual who gives more than 100% to his customers. I was impressed in seeing how meticulous he is in every aspect of how his cabinets will function once he leaves your home. Mr. Lopez should be very proud of himself not only as an individual, but as the impact he has on his customers with his professionalism. Hiring AFL Enterprises (Tony Lopez) was the best business hire that I have ever made.

They did a very nice job building a cabinet to replace the interior of an old linen closet. They matched the color of the vanity and medicine cabinet too.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
