Christine, Thank you so much for staging our home in Ft. Worth. Our son moved out and we put the house up for sale, however with nothing in the home it was extremely austere. Every flaw and imperfection seemed to glare at us when walking through. You suggested using minimal items in the staging and what a tremendous difference it made. Thank you for this sugestion because the cost savings was really appreciated. We feel your creative staging was instrumental in the sale of the home. Gwen felt you were most accommodating and a joy to work with. Your are welcome to use Gwen and me as references to future clients. Thank you again John & Gwen Wilson

I've worked with Chiara on 3 projects so far. I initially contacted her because we recently purchased a new home that needed to be completely updated. We did an initial consultation and also met at the house so she could see the space. She presented a paint selection which we were both happy with at the first try. We only made some minor adjustments to the first colors she chose due to the lighting in the house. In addition to the paint selection she found painters who were top notch - and they did the job in on a tight schedule. For the sake of this review I won't go into extreme detail but the week of our move we were on a previously planned vacation and I had no hesitation giving her a key to the house for access for herself and the painters while we were gone. She supervised the job while we were gone and we were extremely happy with the result and having that done before moving in. At the last minute we decided we wanted to have the master closet redesigned and installed. She quickly created a functional design and found a contractor to do the building of the closet. While the installation of the closet itself took longer than I thought it would (this was not due to Chiara - our communication and expectations of the contractor could not have been more clear and besides, these things happen sometimes), I'm very happy with the finished product. Most recently I contacted her for the kitchen space. I purchased and refinished a kitchen table & chairs but wasn't sure about the color so I reached out to her to talk about the kitchen design even though we won't be starting that remodel until a later date. We did a consultation and talked about the design for the kitchen in detail. I was again very happy with the initial design and only made a few minor changes while we were talking about some of the details. She was able to get the kitchen chair cushions reupholstered for me in beautiful fabric that fits with the design we are doing in the house for a reasonable cost. Before contacting Chiara for the kitchen I was trying to figure it out myself and did some driving around town looking at fabrics. If you have never done that before it is completely overwhelming! I'm so glad I gave up on the DIY plan! She has oodles of resources, contractors, upholsterers, painters, people who do wonderful, quality work for a reasonable cost. We are currently working on floors for the extra bedrooms in the house. Truly, Chiara has been a pleasure to work with. She is very professional, prepared, she listens and works to incorporate your "vision" for your space while giving good design advice. She has been able to work on our timeline, doing one project at a time, little by little. I know a lot of people think that with Pinterest and HGTV you can do it yourself. Not true!! The investment in a designer for your home can make all the difference and without reservation I would recommend Chiara for any size project of whatever style/taste.

My family had an unexpected emergency and we needed our home clean late in the evening for family and friends to visit after a death. Not only did they come and clean, once they knew what the situation was. They bought dinner.

It was such a pleasure working with Kyndra and the rest of the team at Atmospheric Home Staging. They were prompt, kind and courteous. We were selling a house that we still really loved but had outgrown due to additions to the family. In staging the house she was able to keep the modernity of the house while also making it feel like home. She also pointed out things that I would have never thought of. She insisted on staging the master with a queen bed, to make the room look bigger than it actually was. I was unsure, but she was able to convince me and when I saw the final product I thought 'This is the work of a genius!' The house was on the market for only 9 days even though we listed around the holiday season! I highly recommend Atmospheric Home Staging for anyone looking to sell!

Cheryl has been just perfection throughout the whole process of staging our home. There were no surprises or hiccups at any point, and the finished product was exactly what I was hoping for! She also had some great pointers and advice from her years of experience with staging and open houses that I found invaluable. I'm very much looking forward to working with her and her team on future projects!

The Bella's team did an amazing job getting my home ready for me to sale. After the first visit and we agreed that I couldn't do all this by myself I agreed to let them do the job. They cleaned off shelves they rearranged my furniture to make the room so adorable. I was amazed at what they had done with the home. It did take all day but we knew that going into it. Jamie worked really hard to make sure we got exactly what we paid for

Tamela did an AMAZING job helping us with a complete remodel on our kitchen, dining and front room. She was there every step of the way, offering advice but allowing my family to put the final details in place. She went shopping with us to pick the perfect pieces, cabinets, doors, pulls, lighting, decorations, furniture, floor covering, paint, you name it, she made sure we did not go wrong. She was there to help oversee the contract work and make sure that everything we wanted was done correctly. Most importantly, she stepped in and mediated between us and the contractors when our visions did not line up. We now have a space we LOVE and can't wait to get home to everyday. No job is too big or too small, she can do it ALL! Thank you Tamela for taking my dream and making it a reality!

From the time we began to build our house, Jill was there to help with decisions that made everything much easier for me. From the architecture to colors, custom curtains & all decorating. She pulled everything together to create exactly what I envisioned. She is a master at knowing what look you are going for just by asking the right questions & that helps save both time & money. She is very professional & went above and beyond to help me. I am so pleased with Jill, and the outcome that has resulted from working with her.

Heather Kelley is the hardest working woman I know! We hired her to design a new master suite & she was our Project Manager. We're really glad she was too! She made sure everything was done correctly & made the contractors redo things that weren't done right. We love our new master suite! It's just beautiful! I would highly recommend her & have!! My brother has hired her to remodel his home. She gets stuff done!!!

      About

I love enhancing the beauty of people and the spaces we live in. I own two businesses. The first one is FLAWESS (beauty enhancer). I have been a freelance makeup artist for about 10 years and have worked with several brides in DFW to achieve their FLAWLESS look on their special day. I have also worked with well-known individuals and local upcoming music artists (male and female) on TV broadcast, webinars, photo shoots, music videos, live performances and special effects makeup for skits and plays. My second business is Ooh La La Decor (decorator). As a second generation decorator, I enjoy creating perfect spaces in clients' homes, that they would never want to leave, and decorating events of a lifetime that they and their guest can't take your eyes off of. It is a passion passed down from my mother who has been an interior decorator for over 20 years. My father is a painter and contractor for over 25 years. Needless to say, our home while I was growing up, never looked the same for long as they were constantly updating, modifying and beautifying our house. As a child I loved to be her assistant, observing her while she expressed her creativity in our home and the homes of her clients.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does it mean to stage a home?

Home staging is the real estate strategy of decorating your home to be as marketable as possible to your target demographic. Home staging is done by interior decorators and other design pros hired by the homeowner or realtor, prior to putting a house on the market. Think of it as setting the stage for potential buyers to fall more easily in love with their future homes — and to spend top dollar to get them. It’s likely to be worth the investment: The Real Estate Staging Association reports that staged homes spend 90 percent less time on the market than those that are not staged. Home stagers can also be hired even if you’re not going anywhere. Stagers can consult on new layouts for your current home, much like an interior decorator.

Home staging can take place while you still occupy the house you plan to sell, or when the home is vacant. For an occupied home, the home stager will clear out clutter, rearrange furniture, and bring in decor and furniture as needed to create the perfect environment. Usually an occupied home has far too much of the current owner’s personality stamped on it, which makes it hard for prospective buyers to envision themselves living there. A home stager should neutralize and beautify the space. In vacant homes, a home stager will bring in furniture and decor so that potential buyers don’t walk into an empty house, which can be equally hard to imagine living in as a cluttered, occupied home.

How much does it cost to stage a home for sale?

Nationally, the price for home staging ranges between $750 and $1,500. The price varies based on how many rooms in the house need staging, whether furniture and decor are needed or the stager can work with the client’s belongings, whether the home is occupied or vacant, and the sale price of the home. Occupied homes typically cost less to stage as they are already furnished, and can require less time and resources than staging an empty house. The main tasks when staging an occupied home are rearranging and decluttering. Staging an empty house can be more expensive as furniture and decor need to be trucked in, requiring transportation, physical labor and potential rental fees. Here are some examples of average home staging costs:

      • 2-hour consultation: $200, includes DIY tips and guidance.
      • 1- to 2-hour consultation and design session: $250, including written report.
        • Additional design consulting: $65 per hour.
      • 8 hours of staging an occupied home: $800.
        • Hands-on staging involving moving furniture, hanging and moving art, and decluttering.
      • Starting price for staging a vacant home could be $2,200.
      • A home stager may charge 1 percent of the home’s selling price.
