Cakes are priced by the serving. Buttercream layer cakes start at $3.50/serving. Fondant layer cakes start at $4.50/serving. Sheet cakes start at $1.50/serving. Shaped cakes start at $4.50/serving. Extra details like flowers, jewels, or extensive detail add to the cost. Cupcakes start at $20/dozen. Decorated cookies start at $2 each. Other dessert options are available. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know the customer and exactly what their needs are in a cake. I take requests if the customer already has ideas about what they want their cake to look like and taste like, or I can make suggestions and create something to fit the design and theme of the wedding or event if the client is unsure what they want in a cake. I ask lots of questions and try to think of every detail that might be important to that customer.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started out making cakes as a hobby. I enjoyed cooking and wanted to learn to make a good cake that was both moust and delicious, so I started playing with recipes. As I found recipes I liked, I began studying techniques to make them beautiful. I learned cake decorating techniques mostly by reading and watching videos on the internet. Friends and family began requesting that I make them cakes and offering to pay for them, and things grew from there.
