Rob was quick to respond. We conversed via text and set up a date and time for him to come. He showed up on time and ready to go. When he came he was very professional and explained what he needed to do. He gave a bid and stuck to the price. The repairs were done very quickly and the result was amazing. You can’t even tell there was a repair made. He was quick and did the job right. He was also very knowledgeable and answered several questions I had about other repairs I needed. He was flexible with my schedule and he was able to take a card as a payment option. When he left I was a very satisfied customer. We have already scheduled another time for him to come do some additional work on my home. I appreciate someone who has the skill and knowledge Rob does. I feel like I can trust him in my home and I didn’t have to watch him to make sure it was done right.

I booked my job with David on a Monday. He was at my house on a Wednesday to install 5 recessed lights. When I came home that night the lights looked great, the room was clean and he identified an exposed outlet on our exterior that he took care of for us. I looked it up and he's licensed and brought a copy of the license to the job. The work looked great and I will hire David again in the future when we upgrade our lighting in other rooms of the house.

The workmanship was very good. It is a father and his son. They work very well together and get the job done quickly and very well. There were some fine details like scraping the bits and pieces of concrete off the adjoining concrete, picked up the big drops of concrete on the lawn, covered a rock path that needed to be crossed over time and again with a wheelbarrow and yellow tape was put up to warn others to stay off. If you have lawn that is in the way of your project expect to pick up some concrete. We did not feel this was a problem. One star was removed because of communication. The job was to start on a Tuesday. On Monday evening I texted to see if the schedule had changed. I heard nothing back. I waited home all day Tuesday and heard nothing until a bit of pressure was added in another text. The price was very competitive and overall we were very happy and would recommend them.

I am not usually home when handymen usually want to come to my house because I work 8-5, but Christian came at 7:30 before I had to go to work so that I could show him around and he could give me a quote. Will update if I end up working with him.

Thank you Edgar. He was quick to respond and showed up when he said he would. He went above what was expected to make sure everything was good with my home - he also noticed a loose nut on my water heater and tightened it for me.

Jared did a great job on our TV wall mount over the fireplace. We were having issues running the cable thru the smurf tube. Jared went out of his way to go Home Depot and find a solution for it. I would recommend working with Jared!

Andy was great! He knew exactly how to install my items and made them work easily with our phones. When he heard we were finishing our basement, he offered to give us a quote. Best of all, he gave us great suggestions in where to place our home theater components to make the room look clean and uncluttered. Thank you Andy!!

I have had an excellent experience with Utah Audio. A few months back we decided to redo our basement which included a theater space. I already had purchased some components from Utah Audio a few years back. Tyler and team accessed what we had and what we needed to complete the system. No hard sell. No gimmicks. In the end we utilized what I had and added some great components to make an excellent theater room. We also added some Control4 switches for lighting control, etc. Very well done. Technical service was great by (Brad I think) and everything works very well. I would highly recommend Utah Audio.

Wired Wifi did a great job!! They were here right when they said they would be. They ran 2 cat 6 cables from my home office to my TVs, and ran a coax for a new antenna into the attic. They even mounted and pointed my antenna in the attic for me. They were very professional and communicative. I would definitely hire them again without hesitation.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

      • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
      • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
      • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
      • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
      • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
      • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

Can a TV be mounted above a fireplace?

You may be able to mount your flat screen TV above your fireplace for a more streamlined look in your living room. In fact, TV mounting professionals can hang your flat screen TV flush with a wall or from a tilting or full-motion bracket mount in any room in your home. A tilting or full-motion mount may be the best option above a fireplace so you can tilt the TV down for the best viewing angle. Whether the wall above your fireplace is brick, drywall, concrete, stone or plaster, most television mounting services can accommodate your needs. Hardier wall surfaces like concrete or brick will require more labor and expertise to mount, and will likely have a higher price range.

If you want your AV and cable wires hidden in the wall, you will also pay a higher price due to the added time and skill to properly drill the holes and run wires. Before mounting your TV above your fireplace, consult with the manufacturer about necessary distance from heat sources. If the space above your fireplace gets too warm, another location could be better for the longevity of your TV. Your television mounting services may take between one and two hours, or more depending on your home theater setup.

How much does it cost for surround sound installation?

If you’re installing your dream home theater, you want the perfect sound system to round it out. The cost for surround sound installation will vary based on the speaker system you select, the amount of wiring and prep required for the job, and labor rates in your region. Home theater installation specialists can advise on the best surround sound speakers for your space and the technology you are using. Here are some examples of average home theater installation costs and the cost of surround sound speakers:

      • TV wall mount and up to 5 wall-mounted speakers with hidden wires: $399.
      • 60-inch TV and small home system: $2,080.
        • Equipment cost: $1,680.
          • Five box speakers and subwoofer: $500.
          • Three HDMI wires: $30.
          • Surround amp: $250.
          • 60-inch TV and bracket: $900.
          • Labor cost: $400 Including setup, wiring and TV mounting.
      • Projector and screen system plus audio wiring throughout home: $12,900.
        • Equipment cost: $9,900.
          • Approximate wire costs: $2,700.
          • Projector and bracket: $1,500.
          • 110-inch screen: $600.
          • Surround amp: $500.
          • 5-inch ceiling speakers and sub: $1,400.
          • Remote control system: $400.
          • Eight zones of speakers and volume controls: $2,800 ($350 each)
          • Labor cost: $3,000. Includes prewiring for 5-inch ceiling speakers, one subwoofer, one 20-inch to 50-inch HDMI, Cat. 6 control wire to projector, 1.5-inch tube for future wire changes, and wiring for two to eight additional audio zones throughout the home. All equipment (audio boxes, amps, cable box, etc.) is concealed. The audio zones are controllable by iOS devices from anywhere in the home.
