I've been training with Clint for 5 months at this point and it's been one of the best investments I've made in myself for many years. Like a lot of people, I got busy with work, family, etc., and I had fallen way out of shape. I had a few old nagging injuries and physical challenges. I didn't have the energy or appearance I wanted. My occasional attempts to work out by myself went nowhere. I decided to try a trainer, and I'm glad I found Clint -- working with him has produced great increases in my strength, endurance, balance, and everyday function. My body fat has dropped dramatically and I'm adding muscle. I've *never* liked working out but that's changed. I can't recommend Clint highly enough: he's a born teacher and trainer. He pays attention to your goals and any physical challenges you have, and has the knowledge and experience to really personalize your training plan. And he's easy to work with: he's a really affable guy and keeps the workout fun but very focused. If you want to make some positive changes in your health, strength, and appearance, you can't go wrong with Clint.

Joey has been working with me for a few years and I find that he is one of the best trainers in SLC! He keeps the workouts varied and interesting and knows how the body works so he can determine how and what exercises will work for me on any given day. Besides being knowledgeable about what he does, he is a wonderfully kind and geniune person. You will not be disappointed if you choose him to help you to a road of fitness and health!

Nancy is a uniquely talented and skilled Relationship Coach. When my marriage was in crisis, I reached out to her through Thumbtack. I had 2 sessions with Nancy before my wife attended a session. That was a month ago. What a difference Nancy has made! Our relationship has been re-born!! We feel closer now than ever before and we see a bright future together. We know there will be challenges, however, we are now using important tools (we learned from Nancy) which STRENGTHEN our relationship, even when faced with a difficult subject or situation. Thank you, Nancy!!

I am so glad I invested in Blake and PIVOT. After years of therapy, it was so incredible to have someone that could help me process what was happening in my life *right now* on a deeper, more applied way. Blake's way of coaching is so powerful because of her experience in behavior and lifestyle change, but because she empowered me to discover and create a lifestyle that works for ME. She is so loving and enthusiastic about her clients, available for check-ins between sessions, and willing to invest in their process. Love my time working with Blake and will continue to develop that relationship for years to come!

I met Sam at my apartment gym and we immediately hit off. What started as a simple conversation led us to talking about fitness, my goals, tips on what I’m doing, and what I should be doing. Then I attended one of his Saturday sessions and I was hooked. He understands his clients and caters his workouts to exactly what they need. You’ll leave his session feeling great that you put in the work. Join a class and then immediately sign up for his training. You will get a plan that meets your needs, helpful tips around nutrition and a coach that you can trust. Best of all, you’ll get the results you want. Sam is the best!

Heather is excellent at listening and helping the client get perspective. As we worked through our 12 week program, she helped me realize that my lack of time was my own doing because I didn’t know how to say ‘no’ to others. She also gave me great insights on how to face my fears instead of hoping they would go away. She was very motivating at setting goals and then held me accountable to them. Our time together was well spent!

I keep going back to Tayla as my GO TO source for all things nutrition, dieting, food, and health. She has a passion for her field and uses the most up-to-date science in her approach. Tayla is a diamond in the rough. There are tons of misconceptions with dieting and weight loss, but Tayla knows the truth! I don't hesitate in recommending her to my friends and family, in fact, I already have.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
