My water heater was in a very tight space. Other plumbers said they'd have to remove a wall. ProCareMan got the water heater replaced despite the tight conditions - and my wall is still intact :)

Aaron is extremely responsive and communicative, which is very rare these days. He installed a second water heater for us and we plan to use him again for fixing some bathroom plumbing for our remodel. I'm definitely keeping his number for when plumbing needs come up after that.

We just purchased a home where they had moved the washer and dryer into the kitchen, but the plumbing wasn't working there, and we wanted the washer and dryer back in the laundry room in the basement. The job ended up being more complicated then originally expected, but they stuck with their original quote, and I was very happy with the work done and the price paid.

City creek plumbing fixed my leaking kitchen sink and replaced my disposal. They were very accommodating to my schedule and showed up exactly when they said they would. Very respectful of my home and kept a clean work area while performing the repairs, and ensured it was clean prior to leaving. I was so pleased with the price for the work performed that had them return to finish a basement bathroom that otherwise would not have been done if I had not found such a good business to go through. Thanks City Creek Plumbing Keith

He was on time and finished the job in a timely manner without running off on other jobs or errands.. I would definitely recommend him to friends who have a project they need done especially in plumbing and I will use him on another plumbing project here in the near future.

I really enjoyed working with these guys. I had a tricky bathroom remodel and a difficult tile pattern to have done throughout my condo. I found out about them and decided to give them a call after a botched full bathroom remodel and tile that my “friend” left for me. Since he never completed it, I needed to get the project done fast since it was my ONLY bathroom. They got the job done and my bathroom and hallway look amazing!! Will definitely hire them again!!

We had an awesome experience. Very easy to work with, and he did a very professional job at a great price. He worked with us on our older sink that we love (from the 50’s) whereas two other plumbers just told us to replace it.

Our water heater went out and thumbtack referred us to Murray Plumbing, and he called us right away. We told him the situation and he gave us his best quote over the phone. We contacted same day and Home Depot and their bids were hundreds of dollars more, so we went with Murray. We had already been without hot water for 2 days, and Matt went out of his way to work late and came the same day. We found him to be pleasant, helpful, honest and fair. He did a great job. I would definitely use him again, and recommend him to friends and family.

Had cabinets installed in my laundry room. After seeing how amazing it turned out, I immediately hired him again to install a cabinet in my bathroom water closet. Both jobs turned out beautifully and Deni was great to work with. There was some miscommunication with the installer, but Deni resolved it quickly. Highly recommend.

Stefan does a great job and has a good eye for detail. He provided good professional advice while designing and constructing a whole new bathroom. It is very clear that Stefan knows what he's doing and takes pride in doing things correctly. I would have rated five stars, but there were several delays in construction that I had to ask about rather than being updated on. Nothing terrible, just construction delays. I will recommend and work with Stefan in the future.

Repaired some holes that a plumber had to make. Being aware of my time limits (trying to sell house) he was able to start and finish the job quickly. He was even willing and able to come on a holiday to make sure the job got done! Highly recommend.

In an attempt to open up a beauty salon, I acquired services from Mr. Anthony Bivens. As both time and money were issues in my new business venture, Anthony came highly recommended. Services rendered included, but were not limited too the complete install of a water heater, revamp of HVAC, the plumbing and install as it relates to a bathroom sink and utility sink, two (2) shampoo bowls, and ventilating doors, etc. As I hired Anthony for services directly related to "Plumbing, Heating and Air," I have to admit that I became uneasy when he advised that he was also comfortable with areas surrounding electricity. With that said, Anthony also installed a minimum of seven (7) lighting fixtures. It is important to note that my "Master Electrician" wanted in excess of $400 to just "install" these fixtures at his own convenience. Not only did Anthony install timely, but charged me a fraction of the cost. Needless to say, Anthony saved me a great deal of money during this project as the term "HandyMan" is an understatement. Finally, as getting the work done is already stressful in itself, Anthony comes with the knowledge, skills, and ability to articulate your problem in a way that you will be able to understand, but more importantly, offer viable solutions without any hidden agenda or desire to upsell. With that, I will only use Mr. Bivens who I deem reliable, timely, and affordable, going forward. I found Mr. Bivens to be a pleasure to work. Do not be fooled by his small stature as his capabilities as it related to my project, were unlimited.. It is important to note that all work was signed off and approved by the City Building Inspectors. Thanks Again Anthony... Design Extensions

I usually never leave reviews but I feel like this is necessary. If you are looking for excellent workmanship look no further!! It is very hard to find someone that is fair, reliable, honest, and gets the job done! Working with Matt on my remodel for my bathroom was a really great experience! He was able to get things done that I thought would pretty much be impossible! Matt also accomplished this job in a very timely manner and I was very impressed with his workmanship and professionalism! I highly recommend choosing and working with remodel Master's I too think that you will have the same experience that I did.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do I plan a bathroom remodeling project?

If you’re stumped on how to plan a bathroom remodeling project, it pays to hire a designer. This is especially important if you’re changing your bathroom layout in any way. Designers create contractor-friendly drawings indicating exactly where each tile and fixture will be installed, down to the light switches. This investment might cost you $300-$500 but save you significant frustration and miscommunication, while ensuring you get precisely what you want.

If you’re going to do your own design, planning a bathroom remodeling project means being organized and planning ahead. Create a general outline of what you want and the budget you have. Identify the specific fixtures, tiles, paint and vanity you prefer. Get all this organized before requesting quotes from two to three reputable general contractors. Once you find the right pro, get a written contract outlining scope of work, materials that will be used, timeframe and payment schedule. Communicate clearly about when to order your materials so they are ready and waiting by the time the contractor gets the permits. Your job from here is to communicate clearly, pay the contractor as the work progresses, and enjoy your remodel when it’s done.

Where should I start when remodeling a bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Before starting a bathroom remodel it’s crucial to know what you want and have a clear understanding of your maximum budget. If you’d love all marble fixtures but have $3,000 total, you will have to compromise. Being realistic about materials and money before you even contact a contractor will have you on the road to success. Here are some simple steps to follow in the planning stages of bathroom remodeling:

  • List your remodeling priorities in order of importance (e.g., 1. New shower head, 2. Replace flooring, 3. Install recessed lighting, etc.).
  • Calculate what you can realistically afford to spend on your bathroom remodel. Identify an “all in” price — meaning the absolute maximum you’re willing to pay, as well as what you’d prefer to spend.
  • Gather ideas from Pinterest about colors and finishes.
  • Research the costs of the materials and finishes you want and begin making choices about what is and isn’t possible to fit into your budget (once labor is included). If you’d like to stay under $10,000 total, but really love a $2,000 tub, plan to downgrade in other areas.
  • Request quotes from at least three reputable general contractors, share your vision and ideal materials, and work together from there.

How long should a bathroom remodel take?

With proper planning and a good general contractor, your bathroom remodeling project doesn’t have to take forever. The construction phase of the project will always vary based on your scope of work, the square footage and the condition of your bathroom under the surface layer. Inevitably an 80-square-foot master bathroom with major changes will take longer than a 25-square-foot guest bath undergoing a minor renovation. For a smaller bathroom, a facelift — the industry term for sprucing up the surface layer (such as paint, vanity, tiles or light fixtures) but keeping the existing footprint of the space — may take five to eight working days, as long as there are no surprises like mold waiting when the old vanity comes out. A more complex bathroom remodel that revamps the shower area (customizing the plumbing, installing tile and changing the shower door), updates the flooring and cabinetry, and adds new paint and new lighting could take anywhere from one week to three weeks. A full bathroom remodel that guts the room, changing the footprint and moving the electrical wiring and plumbing lines, could take four to eight weeks or more. To keep your bathroom remodel on schedule, have your materials ordered and waiting, and don’t make any change orders once construction begins. Planning is key to keeping a bathroom remodel on schedule.

How do I remodel my bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling is made up of three general phases. The first phase is the planning and permitting phase, in which you determine exactly what you want, what materials and finishes will be used, and what the end product will look like. If you’re competent with design you can handle the planning yourself, or you may hire an interior designer to guide you. During this phase you’ll also hire a general contractor who can help execute your remodel vision, coordinating and overseeing all the subcontractors required to do the bathroom remodeling (plumbers, flooring pros, etc.). When your plan is finalized, your contractor should obtain permits for the work you want done. During this time you’ll work together to order all the materials so they’ll be ready and waiting when it’s time to start construction.

The second phase is construction. Bathroom remodeling typically starts with demolition, removing the old floors, shower and vanity to make way for the new. Delays in delivery of materials, or changing your mind and ordering different materials halfway into the project, will mean that construction has to pause until the new materials arrive. Each subcontractor is dependent on the next to do their work, and the general contractor should keep things moving along at the proper timeline, ensuring that the right materials are available and dealing promptly with any unexpected repairs, such as damage discovered behind the walls or under the floor. The general contractor will also coordinate inspections from the necessary officials if you’ve moved load-bearing walls or done electrical or plumbing work. After construction is complete, the final phase of bathroom remodeling is addressing your punch list. These are all the items that need to be corrected before final payment is handed over to the contractor.
