Introduction: File Savers has its own research and development team that allows us to take data recovery to new levels. We do not give up easily and our pricing is amazing. Most companies are hundreds of dollars more expensive than we are for a single data recovery case. Our customer service is amazing and we keep you updated throughout the data recovery process because we understand your data is vitally important to you and we understand that. We treat your data like it was our data. I love saving the data and hearing the stories and comments from customers after we complete their recovery. Because we work with business of all sizes, government agencies, schools, non profit organizations and individuals, we see a variety of ways data can be lost. I am ever amazed at some of the situations that we recover data from. We have recovered data from natural disasters, flood, fire, lightning, abuse and accidents of all kinds.

I had a head crash on a drive and was convinced my data was turned to dust. I had originally sent my drive to a different data recovery company aside from File Savers, but they ended up really pushy, really expensive, and really shady. Before the other company actually touched my drive, I had it sent back and instead sent to File Savers. I did that pretty much based off of one phone call I had with File Savers. File Savers was honest in that when dealing with a faulty drive that you are to expect the worst but hope for the best. Within a couple days they called, gave me a quote, told me what was up, and within a few more days proceeded to recover everything. But here's the kicker, they recovered everything at literally half the cost of any other company I was checking out - and they didn't charge a return fee. Not only was the price worth it, but the staff was well worth it. Honest company with great prices who clearly know what they're doing. Awesome.

All in all File Savers does good work as a whole. They aren’t cheap and I do recognize other companies can charge even more. If you use File Savers be sure to get all the costs up front and ask them to send back your original drive when completed instead of them keeping the drive. For a total review of my experience PLEASE READ ON. Overall I’m pleased with the experience I had with File Savers. I sent in 2 drives for recovery, a My Book and a laptop drive. File Savers was able to save the data from the My Book, but was not able to save the data from the laptop drive. I was told the laptop drive is an SSHD drive which is a solid-state hybrid drive (something I’d never heard of). I was told by File Savers that this type of drive is harder to recover data from. They did give it a good try though which I appreciated. I was told to shelve the drive for a year or so and maybe technology would advance to where they could get the data then. When I first called the company they were easy to talk to and quick to send me a pre-paid shipping label. When they received the drives they quickly let me know. They were also quick to get an estimate for me on the cost, which came in at the highest cost on the list for the budget package I chose. After the evaluation both drives came in at just under $2,000.00. File Savers did tell me they would give me $100.00 off per drive as a break in the cost. So that would be just under $1,800.00. Now, as a blind customer, we have to just trust they are being truthful on the estimate because we would never be the wiser if they weren’t truthful. Anyway, at that point I signed an online agreement and all went well, good communication and etc. Just a side note. This was very expensive for my personal budget. But, considering the drives are my daughter’s and they contained every picture and video ever taken of her 2 little girls (ages 4 and 1) from birth to the present. Plus, the ultra sound photo’s and etc. of the little boy she is expecting next month, plus wedding pictures, honeymoon pictures and mission pictures for my son-in-law, the price was worth it to me. Back to the review. I received the bill and paid online. The final bill had charges that weren’t mentioned beforehand. Plus, it took much longer for them to ship the package than expected, which made me nervous. I emailed and didn’t get a reply. So, I was very happy when the shipment finally did arrive. The packaging was quite inadequate for a fragile hard drive. They didn't even use a box. Instead they shipped it back in a plain skinny bubble wrap FedEx envelope. Considering one of the costs was a #25.00 shipping fee I would expect better packaging. I think the overcharge on shipping is to cover the pre-paid shipping label they sent in the beginning….just a guess. I don’t expect free shipping, just reasonable and adequate shipping for the price paid and the fragile contents it contained. The next surprise charge was for $35.00 for the flash drive they sent the recovered My Book data on. They didn’t return the My Book either. I definitely expected that back. I’m glad I did ask for the laptop drive back in advance so I could save it for a future recovery try. I would have asked for the My Book back but I had expected it was just a given that they’d send it back too. These 2 charges put the price of the data recovery back up to nearly the cost before the $100.00 price break. I have to admit I didn’t expect to get an additional charge for a flash drive since it cost just under $1,000.00 for the recovery of 1 drive. I would think the cost of the flash drive would be covered in that cost.

Losing your data is scary stuff, but Phil was super helpful throughout the process. Though it was more expensive than I was hoping ($900), the peace of mind I have in having all of my data back is priceless. Plus, that price is relatively inexpensive compared to other companies. I would definitely recommend File Savers to others.
