I felt that Joel and his assistant did an incredible job. They were very thorough. The carpets look great. They even cleaned 3 stairs free. Some things I really appreciated were that they were punctual, professional and very respectful to me and my home.

Kevin came to the appointment as scheduled and showed me the carpet options. He was very nice and professional. The whole planning and payment transactions went great. They called me when the carpet arrived to schedule a time to install the carpet. I was told the installer was going to arrive that morning in between 9:00 and 11:00. At noon I had to call the office to ask about the installer who didn't show up or call. About half an hour later Carlos called saying that he couldn't come until 15:30, or we would have to reschedule. I told him he was supposed to come that morning and he acted like he didn't know. I had to be OK with the 15:30 appointment, since I already cleared my day to have the carpet installed. Carlos did an OK job. He finished within 3 hours. Everything seemed OK, but the next morning I noticed that he did a poor job around the tile in front of the fireplace. On one of the sides is not completely tucked and it looks like it was cut too short. I am afraid that when I vacuum or clean the carpet, that area is going to be a problem. I wish I could give a five star, but the company has to make clear to their installers that being punctual and doing a quality job is very important to the clients.

Did an amazing job! Got a quote by submitting pictures of the work that needed to be done, and we were able to schedule a time to do the fix. She did an amazing job on site, a fast job, and incredible job! I would hire again if the need arises for any work on my carpets.

We have had Aaron Higgs install carpets for us three times.. All the times we were pleased with the price and the service. He brought samples to our house so we could see how the carpet would look in the different rooms. The first time he did a carpet in our TV room. The second time he did two bedrooms in the basement and the stairway. The third time he did three bedrooms, the hallway and the living room. All the carpets look great.

I know alot of people who have used Hawk Cleaning. My friend was saying that her carpets were really matted down, and after Hawk Cleaning came out, she did not know her carpet could actually be fluffy. They have commercial grade equipment that will do alot better job than the cleaners you can rent yourself. I actually don't think you can even rent the equipment that they use anywhere. I have not left alot of reviews on here, but these guys are awesome and so I really felt compelled to let everyone know that Hawk Cleaning is a trust worthy business that offers a great value! I have joked that I think their name should actually be "Hot Cleaning" because their service is smokin! If you are looking for your carpets to be cleaned, windows, or whatever, I'm sure you will be very happy with their service. It's a great business.

When we moved into our home three years ago, the floors were horrible! Much worse than we realized once all the furniture was gone and I was just sick thinking what a mistake I had made! Angie's List gave Vama Floorcovering outstanding reviews and I emailed the owner, Vahe, who responded quickly. He assured me that he would make our floors beautiful and his confidence and calm were just what I needed. From the first visit when I chose the material (I went with a laminate) to the final day, all went perfectly. Vahe and his crew were always on time, cleaned up after themselves and did more than I could have hoped. Our floors are so beautiful and I can't tell you how often visitors say "Laminate? NO!!! It's too beautiful!" They have even gotten down to touch it because it looks that good! The quality of the product, the quality of the installation and the feeling of trust I have for this company deserves 10 stars!

Nate was absolutely amazing! I had to keep moving the install date back while I was closing on my house and he was so patient and kind. He was speedy with his responses and worked hard to install my carpet ASAP. He’s even coming back to scotch guard my carpet! I will absolutely be using him again with any future projects!

James did a fantastic job fixing our carpet. We had some tile work done and built ins installed, and needed the carpet re-stretched. The tile installer had installed on top of the tack strip, and James was able to carefully remove it without damaging or removing any of the tile so the carpet would look the way it should. He did great work, showed up when he said he would, and was very reasonably priced. Would use again any time.

He was fast to respond and fast to install. Maybe four days from when I posted on Thumbtack to carpet install. He vacuumed after he was done and saved me $200 over the Home DEPOT quote I got. Just what I needed for this flip project. Very happy, and I will use them again.

Needed to have carpet installed in my property before putting it up for sale. Currently live out of state and had a very tight deadline of when I needed the carpet installed due to only being in Utah on certain dates. Trent was very accommadating and understanding for my schedule. Work was done when promised, on time, at a good price, and well done. Would definitely hire Mountain West Interiors again if I every have anymore flooring needs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

    • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
    • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
    • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
    • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
    • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to install carpet on stairs?

The number of stairs you want carpeted in your home will directly affect your carpet installation cost. Putting carpet on stairs generally increases the labor time and requires a higher degree of detail than laying carpet flat. Where you live in the country also plays a role in your carpet installation cost. Carpet installation companies in smaller towns with a lower cost of living and a lower cost to do business (insurance, company vehicles, employee labor, etc.) can usually offer their customers lower rates than companies in large cities where the cost of living and the cost to do business are higher. Carpet pros will often quote you a flat rate per stair once they do a site visit to provide an estimate. They’ll take into account the size of each stair you want carpeted (including both the step and the riser), and what type of stair it is. For example, the cost might range between $3 and $10 per stair for labor only. On the higher end of the spectrum, box stairs or staircase stairs with spindles that must be worked around might cost between $15 and $25 per stair.
