FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It takes a couple of weeks to get a feel for where the disconnects are with a new student. So far this hasn't ever happened, but if after the first few meetings either I felt I wasn't the right resource or the parent wanted to look elsewhere for a tutor, we could part ways with no feelings. There is no contract. One thing I like is to be able to email the teacher and ask questions or see the work that's coming up shortly. If the student is confused, there is no way he/she can explain what the current subject matter is.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Once my own children had graduated from homeschool and moved on, I missed it! I was (am, for just a bit longer) a certified yoga instructor, and that was wonderful, too. I still got to teach. But I missed watching the light bulbs turn on in the younger set.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I've often helped middle school and high school students cram for tests, but I prefer working with a student or subject longer term. I have worked with children with autism, Asperger's, Tourette's, and brain injuries.
