I am extremely please with Clean Green Carpet Cleaning. I've used a number of different cleaning companies in the past, but Clean Green blew them all away. The tech talked me through what he was going to do. He did it and the carpet looks new. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants a thorough, quick drying carpet cleaning. Five stars.....

My furnace quit blowing hot air. I hired Ted. He came the next day and was clearly expert and identified and solved the problem quickly. I heard him shopping around with multiple suppliers for the part I needed to save me money. The repair cost more than expected, but I still feel he was fair. I should mention that my furnace is near the end of its life, but he never tried to tell me I just needed a new furnace, a common tactic among some HVAC service companies.

There is nothing worse than coming home from vacation to find your AC is broken. I called 5 HVAC contractors to come out, and the soonest they could come out was 5 days later. I found Monarch Heating and Cooling on thumbtack and had my problem solved in less than 24 hours. We're happy and back to being cool.

We were in the process of getting a new a/c installed in our home, we were so tired of the swamp cooler. We had several HVAC companies come out to give us estimates and felt they were way overpriced for just an a/c. I was given Cody's number and I'm so glad I called him. He came out and gave me an estimate for a brand new a/c and a new furnace. He was very organized and prompt and completed the work within the same day. Thanks to Cody our home is nice and cool on these hot summer nights! I would highly recommend Cody for any of your HVAC needs.

I was getting my daughters sprinkler system fixed as her dogs ate up the outside sprinkler box. I do not live in the same city as my daughter and all of my communications were over email or text. I knew the project was going to be a big one so I asked for bid which was provided. After the work began Roger kept me updated on the progress of the job. When it was all said and done I think Roger had more time and parts in this than what was quoted, but he never asked me for more money. He honored his pricing and did a quality job. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing sprinkler maintenance or repair. He is responsive and professional. I greatly appreciate all of his help and time in fixing my daughter's sprinkler system.

Jerry Puente installed a large bracket which pulls out from the wall and tilts for a 65 inch TV in my basement. It was his first bracket of this type he hung and did it carefully and professionally. It took 2.75 hours as he also hung my electrical strip and made sure the components and cable were working. He was on time and states he has other contractor / maintenance skills to offer which I plan to take advantage. His appearance was tidy and truck clean.

My window well kept filling with water and flooding my basement. I called my landlord, who in turn called Kore Investments LLC Property Maintenance Solutions. They were out the SAME morning, getting the flooding stopped and finding out the cause. There was ahuge snowstorm and it wasn't safe on the roof and i thought Christmas was ruined because it wasn't supposed to stop until after Christmas. But the 23rd Jen emailed and said she wanted to try and work a Christmas miracle. She sent Roofers out ASAP and now my basement is better than new. They were prompt, they kept their promises and cleaned up after themselves. They kept me informed and never left me guessing. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Beau came out and did an inspection. He was very professional and gave me pointers on how to perform maintenance myself. During the process he pointed out that my units were very old and had not been well maintained. With that said he gave me a discount on the maintenance and was honest about his intentions on wanting to be the guy to sell me my new units when it came down to that decision.

Brandon did a wonderful job installing a new High Effeciency furnace and new central A/C system! He uses only Lennox equipment, which holds the highest ratings for durability, functionality, and longevity. His work is very clean and precise, and he took great measures to not disrupt the integrity of the walls/ceiling more than was absolutely necessary. While he was installing the HVAC system, he noticed some building code issues with my hot water heater and fixed them on the spot at no additional cost. Quality, knowledgeable, honest contractors are a very rare thing anymore, but Brandon is certainly all three. I can not recommend him highly enough!

I was a little skeptical with the pricing at first. It seemed almost too good to be true. Chris came in 2k less in some cases 4k. Fact of the matter is Hvac companies are making a killing. I found the parts online for 3k and these other companies wanted to charge me 6-9k for parts and labor. So we are talking about a ton of profit for a day's worth of work. I took a chance on Chris knowing it could be too good to be true. Well it was the best deal I've ever taken. Chris and his team came out and within 6 hours they installed a new furnace, AC unit, and lines. They were all very professional and always answered any questions or concerns I had. It's nice knowing that o have a got to Hvac guy now that charges a very very very fair price.I love my new setup!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

        Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

        • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
          • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
          • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
          • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
        • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
        • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
